Preface
Narula Institute of Technology has proudly constituted Student Life Center on 17th January, 2014 with an
aim to promote all round development of students by organizing several co-curricular activities through-
out the year by various clubs and societies at the college campus. Through student life center, there will
be a steady growth in student’s participation at various levels, where they will get an opportunity to
demonstrate their skills and talents in fields of sports, dance, music, photography, social service etc.
Earlier, various committees were used to conduct these co-curricular events in the institute premises
before the formation of SLC. For smoother functioning of these activities in a more organized way, SLC
was formed.
Objective of SLC:
To assist the student for exploring their innovativeness and activities, related to various technological and
non-technological aspects in order to enhance their latent talent and creativity.
Values:
Student Life Center defines and inculcates strong values to its student body.
Wish to enhance the quality of student life by promoting a safe, secure and
environmentally conscious campus.
Will strive for innovation and continuous improvement in all that we do to increase the
level of service we offer to students.
Seek to maintain a fair and reasonable academic environment providing affordable,
accessible and quality education.

Chapter - 1: Sports
Sports club of Narula Institute of Technology organizes various events including indoor and
outdoor sports throughout the year to inculcate sporting talents among the members of the
institute. The summary of the events are given below to give an idea of the various events that
have taken place under sports club.
JIS Group Inter College Cricket Tornament
SLC faculty members of the Sports Club won the 5th Sardar Jodh Singh Trophy – 2016,JIS
Group Inter College Cricket Tournament from 15th – 18th Jan 2016. It was a tough competition
but very smoothly with a lot of team spirit our bold and aggrssive team won the tournament.
Annual Sports 2016:
Narula Institute of Technology hosted its Annual Sports 2016. The Annual Sports is hosted every
year with a motive to explore the hidden talent of athletics in the Institute. The following games

ANNUAL FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP
The Student Life Center of Narula Institute of Technology organized the Annual Football
championship at GNIT grounds March 28th,
29th, and 31st. 16 teams participated in this
Qualifying league of the Tournament,
followed by Quarter finals and semi finals.
The inter departmental witnessed a total 29
Matches. The Teams in the semi finals were
CSE (2nd Year), IT (3rd and 4th Year Combined), ECE (2nd year) and ECE (3rd and 4th Year
Combined).
In the Semi Finals CSE (2nd Year) were defeated by ECE (2nd Year), while ECE (3rd and 4th
Year Combined) got the better of the IT team. The fantabulous performance by both the IT teams
led to an all ECE finale. This was a rematch of 2012 tournament. The finale was contested with
added intensity. Both the teams tackled, dodged and tried their best to score a goal but in vain.
FACULTY VS STUDENTS FOOTBALL EXHIBITION MATCH
The Student Life Center of Narula Institute of Technology hosted an exhibition match of football
between the faculty members and the students of the college on 28th March 2016. The match
was unique because of its content. The 1st half of the match was a goal less draw. Every offence
from the teacher’s side was defended well by their students. In the 1st half there were several
instances when students could have scored goal, but a solid defense and an equally effective
goalkeeper made sure that the match was a draw. In 2nd half, the teachers changed their strategy;
they went on for a full attack.

Community Connect
National Love A Tree Day
The Enviroment and Community Connect Club under SLC observed National Love A Tree Day
inside the campus on May 16th,2016.The students and faculty members planted trees and took a
step towards enviromental clenliness. Love a tree and save a life this was the spirit of the event.

World Earth Day and Blood Donation Camp
The World Earth Day was celebrated on 22nd April, 2016 by the Enviroment & Community
Connect Club under SLC at Narula Institute Of Technology with the pledge to make the Mother
Earth safe and clean. A tree plantation drive was organized within the campus noth students and
staff members participated for this cause of green enviroment.Later in that day around 255
students and faculties voluntarily donated blood to meet the crisis of Blood Bank.

celebrated 66th Republic Day at the college premises.
Sardar Jodh Singh, Chairman of JIS group and
Principal, Dr. M. R. Kanjilal were present in the
occasion. Children and people from local community

International Women’s Day:
The bystanders and the residents at Kamarhati witnessed a brilliant show of harmony on March
8th,2016 when around five hundred partcipants ran gleefully in the 3.5km Mini Marathon
organized by the Enviroment & Community Connect Club under SLC along with all the students
, faculty members and staf of Narula Institute Of Technology, under JIS Group Educational
Initiatives. The marathon echoed the sloga “Run with gaiety, Pledge for Parity” on the occasion
of International Womend’ Day.

Chapter – 3: Art and Literature
Art and literary club of SLC has performed a series of programmes throughout the year. The
objective of the club is to bring out the literary talent from the students, and train them for
participation in various forms of competitions like debate, extempore and other competitions.
Following events showcase the breadth of variety of activities performed by art and literary club
of SLC.
Walk for Books
The students along with facult members of theArt & Literary Clun under SLC of Narula Institute
Of Technology participated in the ‘Walk for Books’ rally as a part of the National Library Week
from 10th to 16th April 2016. The Public Affair Officer and Director, American Center flaged
off ‘Walk for Books’ from American Center to Victoria Memorial(West Gate) . The objective of
such a programme is to enhance the reading habit of students which is almost becoming an
extinct activity among the students. We feel proud to be a part of this wonderful venture and
students of Narula gleefully participated in the programme.

Chapter – 4 : Cultural Club
Cultural club which also includes the drama club is an active part of student life centre. There is
abundance of cultural talent in college premises, and the cultural club of SLC provides platform
for those talents to flourish. The major event of every year is pre-independence day celebration
performed by cultural club, along with farewell to final year students and the annual fest.
Farewell for Batch 2011-15
Bidding Adieu 2k16, the heartful tribute to the final year students of Narula Institute Of
Technology was organised by the 3rd year student on May 30th,2016 by the Cultural Club under
SLC. It was celebreated in an euphoric way and students had tremendous enjoyment. Their
gleeful faces reflected the attitude, values and love they share with NiT family.

155th Birthday of Rabindranath Tagore
Tagore was a man ahead of his time. For the world he was the voice of India's heritage, and for
us, he is a great living institution. To commemorate his 155th birthday all the Cultural Club
under SLC and the faculty members of Narula Insitute of Technology organized a programme
"Laho Pronam" on 18th of May 2016 at its Auditorium. The faculty members showcased their
love and respect for Rabindranath Tagore through various performances composed by their own
"Kabi Guru". The program started with a wonderful recitation by the Honorable VC JIS
University Prof. Dr. B.C.Mal followed by the lighting of lamp by our own principal Prof. Dr.
Maitreyi Kanjilal and an invigorating speech from her where she emphasized that Rabindranath
Tagore flows in the bloodstream of every Bengali. Through a euphoric cultural performance of
dance, recitation, musical performances and "Shruti Nattyo" the faculty members celebrated the
spirit of universal brotherhood. Rabindranath being a true patriot, the celebration concluded with
all faculty members singing the Indian National Anthem "Jana gana mana adhinaayaka jaya hay,
Bhaaratha Bhaagya Vidhaata".

NiT Jewels
“NiT Jewels” the Annual Day celebration was organized by the Cultural Club under SLC at the
heart of NIT on May 7, 2016. It was observed in a glorified way and the entire programme
showcased the essence of Narula Institute of Technology. The award ceremony started with the
rendering performance of our musical stalwarts and with the heartiest best wishes from the
honorable Principal of NiT, Prof (Dr) M R Kanjilal.

Navodaya 2k16
The final day of Navodaya organized by the Cultural Club under SLC on 16th April,2016
witnessed a dazzling show by the students and the guest performers. The college students rocked
the stage with group dances and the evening shone brighter with the glittering fireworks and
band performance of PRACHIR. The fest ended with the rhythm of DJ and a note of true spirit
and harmony.
Saraswati Puja
Cultural Club under SLC along with all the students of the college celebrated Saraswati Puja in
the institute premises on 12th February 2016. The Puja ritual took place at 3:30pm followed by
lunch and then brief cultural programme and felicitation of the College Cricket Team (Students)
at SJS cricket tournament and cultural performers in the literary meet at the Kolkata Book Fair.

Birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda
The Cultural Club under SLC celebrated the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda on 12th
January 2016 from 3.30pm onwards in the Seminar Hall. Our students observed the day with
speech, drama enumerating the sermons and preaching of Swamiji. They dedicated their love and
respect through their cultural performances.
PARICHAY 2k16
SLC Cultural Club organized PARICHAY2016, Freshers welcome on 30th Jan 2016 in the
College Campus. 1st year students with pomp and grandeur participated in the event to get
themselves acquainted with the culture of the college.

40th Book Fair Performance
Cultural Club under SLC performed at the JIS Stall in the 40th Book Fair 2016 on 29th Jan, 4th
Feb and 5th Feb 2016. It was a grand success. From drama to quiz, musical rendition to dance,
band performance to recitation; bewildering performances astounded the bystanders.

Chapter – 5 : Photography Club
There are plenty of photographers available among the students in NiT, and they often take part
in various events across the state and sometimes out of the state competitions. Photography club
of SLC has organized a photowalk where students and faculty members participated.
The photo walk was organized by ‘SLC Photography Club’ of Narula Institute of Technology on
29th December 2014 from 7am onwards. Students and faculty members assembled near
Sovabazar metro station. Then they moved towards Burrabazar Howrah via Ahiritola.
Photographers took snaps based on their subjects (street photography, Portrait or nature
photography) through their 5km photo walk.

Society
Chemical Phenomena and Waste Recycling
The Basic Science & Humanities Department of Narula Institute of Technology and the Science
& Tech Club under SLC organized a project fair at its own campus on “Chemical Phenomena
and Waste Recycling” on 25th of May, 2016 at 3.00 PM to 5.00 PM sponsored by the Technical
Education Quality Improvement Programme (TEQIP). The purpose of the event was to consider
the different chemicals and chemical processes with a view to reduce or eliminate negative
environmental impacts. The fair was chiefly associated with the exhibition of Physics and
Chemistry based projects on recycled materials by the students of 1st and 2nd year B.Tech.
courses.A competition was held separately for Physics and Chemistry projects where best three
projects for Physics and Chemistry each have been awarded by a memento and certificate.

Kritanj – 2k16 & Innovation Club
Narula Institute of Technology under the aegis of JIS Group Educational Initiatives witnessed its
largest ever Annual Techno Management Fest Kritanj 2K16- Crossroad of Innovation organized
by the Science and Technology Club under SLC on 7th & 8th April, 2016. The idea of Kritanj
was conceived with the aim to provide the technically inclined youth a successful platform where
their talent and expertise would be recognized and duly rewarded.
On this occasion The CII NiT Innovation Club was launched at Narula Institute of Technology in
association with CII which aims at developing a fundamental change of instilling the innovation
and entrepreneurial attitude and creative thinking at academic and industry level among students.
In this platform students could showcase their projects and ideas through various activities such
as hardware and software Project Demonstration and Multimedia Presentation. The Projects were
displayed by the budding genius of the school and the technocrats of different colleges which
was extremely innovative and flooded with magnificent ideas and were highly appreciated by
eminent dignitaries, industry stalwarts and dignified guests.
Various events covered under Kritanj-2016 included Robo Ranger, Robo Soccer and Robo War,
which were truly exciting and had huge participation. The other fascinating events were:
Gaming, Bridge It, Electrocution, Concrete, Cad It, Code It and Ad-Mad. Kritanj 2016 also had
some online events like The Selfie Contest and Treasure Hunt. The most interesting and crowd
pulling events were The Takeshi's Castle , Paintball and Zorbing. The students were almost
transported to a frenzied world of ecstasy, away from the mad pressure of their assignments.

They laughed, enjoyed and truly had a blast with all these eye catching events. There were also
various on spot events organized where exciting gift hampers brought gaiety among the ever
enthusiastic students.
