CANVAS  MOBILE  APPS  –  ANDROID  TABLET  

WHAT  YOU  NEED  TO  KNOW  

1. How  to  find  and  install  the  Canvas  –  by  Instructure  app.  The  Canvas  app  is  a  free  app.    2. The  layout  on  the  mobile  app  is  slightly  different  than  on  a  web  browser.  3. Not  everything  is  available  to  access  on  the  mobile  app.  

INSTALLING  THE  CANVAS  –  BY  INSTRUCTURE  APP  

CANVAS  HAS  SEVERAL  D IFFERENT  APPS  AVAILABLE   IN  THE  APP  STORE .  TO  ACCESS  THE  YOUR  COURSES   IN  CANVAS ,  DOWNLOAD  THE  CANVAS  –  BY   INSTRUCTURE  APP .    

• To  download  the  Canvas  app,  first  go  to  the  Play  Store  on  your  Android  tablet.    • Once  in  the  Play  Store,  search  for  “Canvas    -­‐  by  Instructure.”    • The  app  that  you  will  need  to  install  will  look  like  this:    • Select  Install.  Once  the  app  has  successfully  installed,  open  the  Canvas  app.  

LOGGING  INTO  THE  CANVAS  APP  ON  ANDROID  PHONE  

THERE  ARE  SEVERAL  PAGES  TO  NAVIGATE  BEFORE  HAVING  ACCESS  TO  YOUR  CANVAS  COURSES .    

   

       

1.  Type  in  the  canvas  URL.  For  the  mobile  apps,  its  baylor.instrucure.com  

2.  Type  in  your  BearID  and  password.  

3.  Select  Log  In  to  get  started.

NAVIGATING  THE  CANVAS  APP  

THE  CANVAS  APP  LOOKS  DIFFERENT  THAN  CANVAS   IN  A  WEB  BROWSER .  HOWEVER ,  THE  FUNCTIONALITY   IS  ALMOST  THE  SAME.    

   

COURSE  NAVIGATION  IN  THE  CANVAS  APP  

AFTER  LOGGING  INTO  THE  CANVAS  APP,  THE  FIRST  SCREEN  THAT  APPEARS  IS  THE  DASHBOARD.  TO  ENTER  A  SPECIFIC  COURSE,  SELECT  A  COURSE  FROM  THE  COURSE  LIST  VIEW.  

The  Home  Page  of  each  course  will  look  different  for  each  course.  However,  the  Course  Navigation  menu  is  always  available  from  the  left  side  of  the  course  screen.  

   

1. This  shows  a  list  of  your  courses.  

2. This  provides  a  list  of  To-­‐Do  items,  i.e.  assignments  needing  to  be  

submitted  

3. This  takes  you  to  your  Notifications  –  a  list  of  all  unread  

announcements,  discussion  posts,  etc.  

4. This  takes  you  to  view  your  messages  in  the  Conversations  inbox  

5. This  takes  you  to  your  personal  profile.

WHAT  CAN  I  DO  IN  THE  MOBILE  APP?
