7. The Dashboard box shows the latest activity and the courses you are enrolled in.

9. Scroll Down. Click on UB Sample Course square on the dashboard. There are icons indicating announcements, folders, assignments, and

discussions. The navigation for a Canvas course is shown below.

The green global navigation is the same for every course and incudes the account holders name and optional picture, a link to the dashboard, all their

courses, the global calendar for all courses, email for all courses, and the help. On the phone the global navigation is white and is accessed on the left

with three horizontal bars

The Course navigation varies based on what the instructor chooses to include. The UB Sample course main navigation is Modules. The Home Page is

therefore Modules. Modules groups assignments, quizzes, pages, discussions, and files together into themes. The first module is Intro to Upward

Bound. The second Course Menu Item is the Syllabus which lists all the Assignments and their due dates.

The Files menu shows the specific files the teacher has uploaded that can be accessed by the student. The files may be organized into modules or

pages.

The Discussions Boards allow you to interact with the students and teacher by posting your opinion on a topic and making comments on each other’s

posts. This is like being in a classroom but the ideas are more thought out and the teacher sets the rules for the posting.

Assignments are activities a student completes that an instructors has created and assigned, usually for a grade. They can be submitted or given

points for. One type of assignment is a Quiz another type of Assignment is something the student uploads for the teacher to read such as an essay.

For this Mind Map assignment, a student may draw a mind map and take a picture of it or use Microsoft Word.

Then they click on Submit Assignment.

6 Next the student browses with their computer or phone, to their assignment with the Browse button until they locate the file and Click Submit Assignment.

Next you will find the Quizzes Menu item which is where you can go over what you have learned about the navigation in Canvas with the Exploring Canvas Quiz.

Lastly you can view your grades in the Grades menu item. The only grade you will need to have is the Exploring Canvas Quiz.
