North Carolina Gun violence

It is illegal to carry a concealed pistol or gun in North Carolina without a concealed carry permit, unless you are on your own premises. A first offense is a class 2 misdemeanor, and second or subsequent offense is a class 1 felony.Research published in the New England Journal of Medicine found that living in a home where guns are kept increased an individual’s risk of death by homicide between 40 and 170%.In 2010, guns took the lives of 31,076 Americans in homicides, suicides and unintentional shootings. This is the equivalent of more than 85 deaths each day and more than three deaths each hour.

There are many purposes as to why an individual would use a gun. Some of the uses are sports, protection or violence. Our goal is to help eliminate the amount of guns used for violence and to educate the youth as to how to deal with bullies and gangs without using a gun. There are consequences which will never have a positive outcome if a gun is used. Therefore, we looked to motivate the youth by offering advice, counseling, and other solutions to solve problems other than using gun for violent reasons.

more D.A.R.E classes.• We can increase the age to smoke cigarettes and to buy

alcohol.• We can put smoke free conventions in the community.• Make every place non smoking.
