all for love.
St Therese
What a week we’ve had! On Monday, we started Advent with a beautiful Mass led by Year 5. Thank you for preparing such a wonderful Mass Year 5 and a big thank you to Fr Tony P for celebrating with us. Fr Tony P and Fr Tony S also came to school on Monday for Year 4 Reconciliation. Year 4 had prepared a very special service and the two priests were very impressed. On Tuesday & Thursday we had the first of our Christmas Nativity Plays and Nursery & Reception blew us away with their singing and acting. A massive thank you to the staff in the Early Years for preparing the children so well. We definitely have some super stars in the making! Our Faith Ambassadors went to Westminster Cathedral on Wednesday to take part in an Advent Carol Service. They had a wonderful time and were very moved by the experience.Year 1 had the most wonderful time at the Living Nativity on Thursday! What a special treat to see a live scene! It was a chilly day but the children were wonderful. Thank you to the staff and parents who made the trip run so smoothly. This morning we have had a very special visitor in our school. Father Christmas has caused a great buzz this morning; the children are VERY excited! Thank you to the wonderful outgoing PFA for organising his visit.A final reminder that our Christmas Social is this afternoon. Our choir will kick off the proceedings at 3.30pm and the whole afternoon is always a brilliant occasion. Please do come along to support the school. This weekend is the second weekend of Advent and the candle which is lit this weekend signifies Love.Have a wonderful weekend.Mrs Thornton

Final Call for the Christmas Toy AppealThe deadline for bringing toys in for Northwick Park Hospital was today. However, if
you would still like to donate, we can accept toys up until Tuesday 10th December. We’ve
had a tremendous response; thank you so much!
Healthy Lunches
Children have been bringing packed lunches recently as they have been on a variety of
wonderful trips. Unfortunately, staff have been horrified by the contents of some of these
lunch boxes! In general, packed lunches at school seem to be relatively healthy, but the
ones sent in for trips are often full of unhealthy treats. We are a healthy school and
expect to see healthy lunches if children bring packed lunches from home. A sandwich,
wrap, pasta or salad is appropriate for the main meal, along with water and fruit as a
snack. Fruit juices, squash and fizzy drinks are not permitted. Other snacks could include
raisins, cheese or veg sticks. Children may bring a small treat but bars of chocolate,
crisps and sweets are not permitted. We suggest something like a flapjack, a biscuit bar
or an individual cake bar. Children should only bring enough food for themselves; they
should not share food due to the risk of allergies. Thank you for your support in ensuring
we remain a healthy school.
Lunch Money ReminderUnfortunately there are still parents who are not keeping their ParentPay account in
credit. Children are physically not able to order a lunch if the account is not in credit as
their name does not appear on the selection page. Please set a reminder for yourself to
top up at the weekend. The office is very busy and we cannot phone to remind you in the
morning. Thank you to the majority of families who keep their accounts topped up; your
support is greatly appreciated.
Birthday Treats
If you are bringing in treats for your child’s birthday etc., please only send in non-
edible treats or as a last resort Haribos. Non-edible treats could include a pencil,
sharpener, yo-yo or small puzzle, all of which can be found in discount stores. Thank
you for your cooperation.
Autumn 2Growth Mindset Mantra
It’s not about being the
best; it’s about being better
than you were yesterday
Resident Complaints
Unfortunately, we have had numerous complaints from residents over the
past two weeks. They have complained that parents from our school are
parking inconsiderately and illegally while dropping and collecting their
children. Parents have been parking in resident only areas, have parked so
close to people’s front doors they are unable to exit, have blocked driveways
and exit points causing serious risk and causing residents to be unable to get
to work or appointments and have even parked in people’s driveways
without permission.
Several residents have said that members of our school community have
been verbally aggressive and intimidating and have also used offensive
language.
It is so disappointing to hear that a very small group of inconsiderate
parents are ruining the reputation of our school.
We have been in contact with Harrow Council and will also contact the
police should this behaviour continue. If you witness any of this behaviour;
please do let us know.
Thank you to the majority of our families for taking the time to park
considerately and for being mindful of the rights of our neighbours.
The God Who Speaks – The Year of the Word
This year we are focusing on ‘The God Who Speaks’ and the diocese
have named it ‘The Year of the Word’. This year runs from Advent 2019
right through to next November. We are planning many activities in
school and will share more information with you over the coming
months. At the moment, we are looking for unusual bibles, perhaps in a
different language or from a special place. We want to display them
with the bibles we already have so the children have experience of a
range of different examples. If you have one at home that you would
like us to share with the children, please drop it in to the school office.
We will return it to you once we have shared it with the children.
Thank you.

Dear Parents/Carers
As part of our work to become an Eco Schools Green Flag School we are
taking part in Switch Off Fortnight. For us this will begin on Monday 2nd
December. Each class or Year Group has made a pledge to do something
to save energy during the two weeks. It could be making sure lights are
turned off at lunchtimes and playtimes or closing doors when they go out.
We will be monitoring the classrooms to see if they are keeping their
pledge.
Please encourage your family to save energy during the next fortnight by
reading the attached information. You could save your household a lot of
money.
Please help us to save our world for future generations.
