Christ the King Parish: A Community of Grateful Disciples
It is more than a year ago when we envisioned our parish to be a community of grateful disciples where God reigns and the love of God is experienced through acts of goodness towards our neighbor, and bringing hope and fullness of life to all. We have been experiencing its fruits through your generous participation in our parish programs. I would like to recall the generosity of a young man mentioned in the miracle of the loaves (John 6:1-15). It was not just a miracle witnessed by thousands of people. It is a story about the all-sufficiency of Jesus Christ to meet the vast needs of the crowd through His inadequate disciples. He could have called for bread to come down from heaven. Or he could have asked everybody to share. He didn’t. Instead, he asked Philip to buy bread to feed the crowd. Philip calculated that a workman’s 200 day’s wages worth of food would not be enough to give each one a little. The others asked Jesus to dismiss the crowd so that they could go buy their own food. Problem solved! However, Jesus was showing Philip and the other disciples their woeful inadequacy to meet this need, along with His all-sufficiency. The story, at the end, highlights the young man’s generosity who entrusted his five breads and two fish, the little he had, to Jesus who blessed it and multiplied it. Although the disciples were completely inadequate to meet the needs of the hungry crowd, the people gave the little they had to the Lord so that they could distribute it to the people. Christ uses inadequate people who surrender whatever they have to Him to meet the overwhelming needs of others. That has been my experience for the past 30 years as a priest. Currently, we participate in the Diocesan Campaign, “Let Us Go Forth, Juntos Sigamos Adelante.” The needs of our parish and the Diocese, at large, seem to be overwhelming. And we may not have enough money or time or talent to get the gospel to everyone. But Jesus isn’t limited by the scarcity of our resources. All we need to do is to yield whatever we have for the Lord to bless. In this campaign, I, as your pastor, am offering myself to the Lord to use me to meet the needs of others. God bless, Fr. Rolyn Francisco

Actualmente, estamos participando en la Campaña Diocesana, “Let Us Go Forth, Juntos Sigamos Adelante.”

A Prayer for Generosity
Dear Lord, teach me to be generous,
teach me to serve you as you deserve,
to give and not to count the cost,
to fight and not to heed the wound,
to toil and not to seek for rest,
to labor and not to ask for a reward,
save that of knowing that I do Your will.
~ St. Ignatius of Loyola
Oración para la generosidad
Señor Jesús,
enséñanos a ser generosos,
a servirte como Tú mereces,
a dar sin medida,
a combatir sin temor a las heridas,
a trabajar sin descanso,
sin esperar otra recompensa
que saber que hemos cumplido
Tu santa voluntad.

Lord of all hopefulness, Lord of all joy, Whose trust, ever childlike, no cares can destroy, Be there at our waking, and give us, we pray, Your bliss in our hearts, Lord, at the break of the day.
Lord of all eagerness, Lord of all faith, Whose strong hands were skilled at the plane and the lathe, Be there at our labors, and give us, we pray, Your strength in our hearts, Lord, at the noon of the day.
Lord of all kindliness, Lord of all grace, Your hands swift to welcome, your arms to embrace, Be there at our homing, and give us, we pray, Your love in our hearts, Lord, at the eve of the day.
Lord of all gentleness, Lord of all calm, Whose voice is contentment, whose presence is balm, Be there at our sleeping and give us, we pray, Your peace in our hearts, Lord, at the end of the day.

Tim & Julie Smith © 1989 Troubadour (Verse 5 by Craig Colson)
We are called to serve, we are called by grace, To cherish Christ in every face. We are called to serve, we are called by name. And in all we are, God's love proclaim.
Called beyond our human understanding; Called before the world came into view. In your mother's womb, your name was known to Me, for you did not choose Me, noa, I chose you.
Called to be a light amid the darkness; Called to help a doubting world believe. Empowered by My spirit, anointed with My love, you are called to give and share what you've received.
Called to build our gifts to build the kingdom, called to be a steward wise and true. In Your will divine, sanctify our time, to glorify and serve in all we do.
Called to be a beacon for the searching. Called to be a rock amidst the storm. Welcoming the stranger, embracing foe and friend, in our families a place that’s safe and warm.
Called to help the needy and the broken. Called to be a light unto the world. Giving what we have; asking nothing in return. Following the way, the truth, the life.
ACT OF FAITH DURING COMMUNION Lord Jesus Christ, I firmly believe that you are present in this Blessed Sacrament as true God and true Man, with your Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity. My Redeemer and my Judge,
I adore your Divine Majesty together with the angels and saints. I believe, O Lord; increase my faith.
COMMUNION ANTIPHON Cf. 1 Cor 10: 16 The chalice of blessing that we bless is a communion in the Blood of Christ;
and the bread that we break is a sharing in the Body of the Lord.
PICARDY, Sr. Cladia Foltz, SNJM and Armand Nigro, SJ© 1973 OCP
Christians let us love one another as we share the true living bread Jesus is our God and our brother;
with his flesh and blood we are fed.
Everyone who loves is born of God Jesus is our life, God is love.
We who break this bread are one body, we who share this cup are all one Children of our Father in heaven, we are heirs of God’s only Son.
We who eat and drink at this table die and rise again with our Lord.
Drawing from our rock living water giv’n to all who thirst for accord.
On the path of life we may falter earthly food alone leaves us weak. Always you invite from the altar,
“Hungry souls their food here must seek.”
Wheat and grape incarnate a mystery; Jesus is the true living bread
Let us eat with joy and thanksgiving, trusting in the word he has said.

By Your body and blood By Your life and Your love renew us
May Your sacrifice be Forgiveness in me heal us
We come to You, we come to You
broken, hungry We come to You, we come to You
Make us whole again
In the body of Christ We are brought to new life restore us
May the flesh that we eat And the blood that we drink save us
By Your love By Your grace We are one

All the colors of the rainbow, all the voices of the wind. Ev’ry dream that reaches out, reaches out to find where love begins. Ev’ry word of ev’ry story, Ev’ry star in ev’ry sky. Ev’ry corner of creation lives to testify.
For as long as I shall live I will testify to love. I’ll be a witness in the silences when words are not enough. With every breath I take, I will give thanks to God above, For as long as I shall live, I will testify to love.
From the mountains to the valleys, from the rivers to the sea. Ev’ry hand that reaches out, ev’ry hand that reaches out to offer peace. Ev’ry single act of mercy, Ev’ry step to Kingdom come. All the hope in ev’ry heart speaks what love has done.
STRENGTH FOR THE JOURNEY Michael John Poirer © 1992 Peartree
I will be, I will be, I will be strength for the journey. I will be, I will be, I will be strength for the journey.
There is a road meant for you to travel. Narrow and steep is the Shepherd’s way.
And as you say “yes,” letting me guide you, I will be strength for the journey.
There is a cross meant for you to carry, There is a cross meant for you alone.
And as you bow down in humble surrender, I will be strength for the journey.
And how many times have you doubted my word? How many times must I call your name?
And as you say, “yes,” letting Me love you, I will be strength for the journey.
