Dear Parishioners,
We have completed our fiscal year of 2018/2019 and we are grateful for God’s blessings over this past year.
Being a disciple of Christ naturally leads into Stewardship. These linked realities, discipleship and
stewardship, make up the fabric of a Christian life rooted in our Lord. We recognize that everything we have
is a gift from God, to be used for the purpose of sharing those gifts with others.
Here at St. Paul we do well in creating a welcoming faith community that welcomes and makes believers and
unbelievers know they belong with us. We are all born into this world belonging—accepted by God who has
reconciled himself to humanity in and through the incarnate Son of God, Jesus Christ. It's our commitment as
the Body of Christ (the church) to help people experience the stunning truth that they truly do belong. And
so we reach out to all people.
Belonging creates an openness to believe with a desire grow through Lifelong Faith Formation. As a person
experiences that they belong, they begin to see themselves and God in a different light. This change is a gift
from the Holy Spirit—an openness to believe that we seek to nurture in many ways of Life time Faith
Formation.
As you grow in faith, the Holy Spirit will be at work uniting you in a spiritual union with Christ so you become
the person God created you to be.
As you believe, the Holy Spirit will be at work uniting you in a spiritual union with Christ which will lead to
your transformation from the inside out. As this occurs, you will become the person God created you to be in
Christ. You will begin to live into the purpose and plan God had in mind when he created you. As you grow in
that direction, you will discover gifts that God gives you to serve others in and through his church.
As you read our annual report, you will see how we have used God’s gifts to build up our faith community at
St. Paul’s I pray that our parish will continue to be a vibrant faith community by sharing our prayers, talents,
and treasure.

Pastoral Council Report 2018-19
Fellow Parishioners;
The Parish Pastoral Council in its consultative role is charged with the responsibility to support the mission of
the church by developing our catholic identity, promoting evangelization and fostering stewardship. Our
council Norms established by the Archdiocese challenge us to build a community of disciples recognizing our
call to lead lives of holiness, witness and service. Throughout the year we meet regularly for this purpose as
well as to discuss policies and activities that support the needs and priorities of our parish.
Two years ago through a collaborative process we revised the Parish Mission Statement. It reads “ as a
welcoming faith community centered in the Eucharist and guided by the Holy Spirit, our mission is to give
glory to our Lord Jesus Christ through: Inspirational Worship, Faithful Discipleship and Service to Others.” At
our annual fall retreats we devote time and attention exploring ways can live our mission with continued
emphasis in fostering greater stewardship through prayer, service and sharing of our time, talent and
treasure with others. Both the past as well as the upcoming retreats center on the theme of developing
stewardship as a Christian lifestyle. As written in the book Stewardship a Disciple’s Response “Once one
chooses to become a disciple of Jesus Christ, Stewardship is not an Option.”
This past December, the Council participated in a Stewardship Assessment led by the Archdiocese of
Milwaukee. From that assessment came the revitalization and formation of the Stewardship Commission.
Their purpose is to develop a long term stewardship and communication plan for the parish. This plan is
currently being developed and will be rolled out in the spring.
Another purpose of the Council is to support and assist our standing committees; Prayer and Worship,
Stewardship, Human Concerns and Faith Formation as well as the Finance Council. These committees work
in collaboration with staff and are entrusted with the day to day implementation of parish plans and goals.
You will read about their many accomplishments, including Rich Curran’s fabulous presentation to the faith
community and many others, in the following pages. This past year we reinstated our Semi-Annual Ministry
Summit. The Summit provided a forum for each committee along with the Pastoral and Finance Councils to
meet and share activities, accomplishments and plans for the upcoming year. We have another planned for
November of this year.
As a welcoming committee you will see our council members greeting and interacting with parish members
before and after each mass. We also serve as ushers, Eucharistic ministers and readers for select masses
during the Advent and Lenten seasons. We are proud and humbled to be of service to the St. Paul Parish.
We would like to thank Barry Leis, Tom Quinn, Mark Sanderson and Elle Hazi for their work on the Pastoral
Council. We welcome Amy LaRoche, Nancy Kubacki and Jacqueline Beaudry as the newest members of the
Council.
All of the Pastoral Members are dedicated to you and St. Paul Parish. If you have any, questions, comments
or concerns, feel free to reach out to any one of us. As a representative body of the parish, we are the eyes
and ears of the Parish but can only be effective when used as such by our members.

Update on the mortgage /Debt Reduction as of 6/30/19
The mortgage balance as of 6/30/19 was $507,259.21. Due to your generosity and prayers, we have
been able to significantly reduce our balance by $334,189.07 during this last year.
Building and Grounds Summary for 2018-19:
In addition to the upkeep of the campus grounds, the Building and Grounds committee has been focused on
the long-term maintenance of our campus as well as improving operational efficiencies.
The Parish Life Center is approximately 22 years old and the Church is 13 years old. In recent years we have
replaced major components of the PLC heating and cooling system as they have fulfilled their useful life. It is
our goal to try to monitor and maintain all these systems to maximize their useful life. We have incurred
minor roof leaks in various locations and are repairing them as necessary as well as possibly implementing a
yearly maintenance on the older “flat” roofs.
We also took on an initiative to change over all lighting in the PLC and Administrative Office Building from
florescent to LED. After several months of usage, we will compare our electrical consumption to previous
months from past years and calculate our realized savings which preliminary calculations appear to be
significant. A final phase of this project would be to convert the exterior lighting to LED also (this will be
presented to the finance committee later this year).
In addition, we will review the operations of the heating and cooling system programs to again minimize
electrical consumption.

St. Paul Catholic School Accomplishments for 2018-2019
● Started the transition into Standards Based Grading and scoring using rubrics and spreadsheets to track student learning
● Eliminated non-parishioner tuition rates, created a Sponsor a Child fund, opened up tuition assistance to all St. Paul School families, and created a Refer-A-Family program
● Implemented Virtues in Practice and Writing Our Catholic Faith to bring the religious component into other subject areas of our curriculum and enhanced our faith through all school living rosaries, Saint Museum, and lessons from Father Dan
● Enhanced our curriculum by taking educational field trips including two trips to the Meta Space at the Mukwonago Community Library, participating in the Crusaders STEM Challenge, Library Club field trip to Flora Elements, and more
● Completed school-wide service projects including food drives, cards for Veterans, penny drive, and books for Peru. Two Peruvian sisters came to visit our school and share about the many ways St. Paul helps our sister parish, St. Clare
● Enhanced STEM education throughout the school by implementing a Coding and Makerspace class

Child and Family Ministry:
Trainings: We began the year with Kathie Amidei giving a morning of reflection for
our catechists.
Sacraments:
We prepared 27 children to enter into a deeper relationship with Jesus in the
Sacraments of First Reconciliation and 26 for First Communion! They attended
retreats together and completed family faith activities at home.
Families Served:
We maintained an amazingly high standard for formation on both Tuesday nights,
Sunday mornings, and Sunday evenings. We helped 159 children and youth grow
closer to Jesus through instruction, prayer, discussion and engaging activities and
lessons.
Other Wins:
The middle schoolers began the year with a retreat with Josh Dietrich; over
half of the kids attended
About half (which would be about 30 kids) of the Middle School Youth
attended the Wisconsin Catholic Youth Rally – Middle School edition on
March 17, 2019
We continue to have a lot of families take advantage of going to the
RiverWest Food Pantry
Approximately 10-12 girls attended a Summer Girls group that met on
Thursdays over the summer; they had a talk or activity related to faith and
then played games
21 adults volunteered to help bring the Gospel to kids
Parent volunteers helped to ensure safety for the kids as door monitors for
both Sunday and Tuesday evening; allowing the doors to both remain locked
AND children who arrive late to be able to get inside safely
Tuesday night families also provided snacks for the children in the program
Family Program continues to grow in their sense of community
A number of girls and their mom’s came to St. Paul’s to learn how to knit and
crochet with members of the “work and pray” group on a Sunday afternoon
Several middle schoolers signed up to become youth readers at the 5:30
Saturday night Mass
About 10 children came to St. Paul’s to help make cookies for Reformation
Lutheran
Middle Schoolers were given journal prompts as a part of their formation. Their
answers were often breathtaking and faith filled
Mom’s group began and is flourishing – grew to 12-15 moms who regularly
attend
Karen participated in the Missionary Discipleship Institute to grow in her ability
and knowledge to help bring people closer to Jesus.

John 10 Youth Ministry High School Formation for the cluster of St. Paul and St. Bruno:
The 2018-2019 Catechetical High School program continued with the video based Y-Disciple
catechetical formation program for 9 & 10th grade students and Confirmation candidates. 11 Adult
catechists led the small group discussions based on the information presented in the Y-Disciple
program and led the teens through various other prayer, activities, service and bonding
experiences. Each teen enrolled in the program was also asked to complete service hours; a
minimum of 16 hours for 9th & 10th grade and 20 hours for Confirmation were expected.
In addition, all students had retreat opportunities; 9th and 10th Graders had the option of attending
the Room for the King retreat in Advent of 2018 or the Wisconsin Catholic Youth Rally in the spring
of 2019. Confirmation candidates attended the Blinded on the Boulevard retreat in October 2018 to
help them prepare for the Sacrament of Confirmation.

39 - 11th Grade Candidates from St. Paul Catholic Church were confirmed on May 2, 2019.
16 – 11th Grade Candidates from St. Bruno Catholic Church were confirmed on May 2, 2019

The Catholic Experience Fund:
Began in 2018 with generous donations received at the annual parish auction.
The Catholic Experience fund was created as an evangelization initiative to help jump start the
youth and adults faith – beyond what we already offer. We want to ignite a fire for Jesus in
people’s hearts by continuing to engage them throughout the year. Whether it be through getting
our youth to conferences, hosting a parish mission, or bringing amazing speakers to us – we want to
proclaim the love of Christ alive in our lives, in our parish and offer this AMAZING love to as many
people as we can!

Committee Highlights:
Liturgical ministries were covered by committee for both the fall event with Rich Curran
and the Parish Mission with Dan Scholz.
Offered an Advent Season Daily Reflection Booklet created by parishioners for the 3rd year
in a row. The booklets were made available to parishioners through improved
communication and assistance of ushers.
Provided full liturgical ministry support for all masses/services throughout the liturgical
year including Advent/Christmas Season/Lent/Triduum/Easter Season as well as for
Confirmation, First Communion, Reconciliation, school masses, funerals and weddings.
Usher ministry engaged in safety committee and completed the hands-on CPR and
defibrillator training with the Genesee Fire Department. Other new safety guidelines were
in-process, especially in regard to safety during masses.
Art & Environment ministry utilized more volunteers during the Christmas and Lenten
seasons. For Christmas, decorations were refreshed and new greens and window lanterns
were added to enhance the altar trees and poinsettias.
Committee members donated 2 large Wine & Cheese Party Baskets to the St. Paul auction.
Greeter ministry, along with Pastoral Council and ushers welcomed all attending mass with
open arms, smiles, friendly hello’s and conversation.
Work In Progress:
Creating a Prayer & Worship Standard Procedures book to include ministry “job”
descriptions, St. Paul’s liturgical calendar, and contact information for all ministry leadership
and ministry servers.
Mass/Event Check Sheet to better plan and manage special events, holy days, funerals,
weddings, confirmations, first communions, communal penance, etc . and to ensure all
people, materials, timing and communication is in place
Support the Parish efforts toward a stewardship lifestyle and the living out of our Parish
mission.

Human Concerns 2018-19
Our parish Human Concerns Ministries are the hands and feet of Christ.
Bereavement: supported 15 families during funeral visitations, funeral luncheons, cards for Christmas, Easter, 1 year anniversary. Casa Maria House of Hospitality $175 monthly for groceries provided for the homeless women and children they serve. Easter Food Drive: 38 families enjoyed Easter meal through donations of non-perishables and Loaves & Fishes $ for perishables. Elizabeth Ministry: Support for women/families in childbearing years through prayer, baptism bags. Free Clothing Share: Each Spring and Fall for 29 years: provide free clothing to our community and beyond for anyone who needs it. Giving Tree: 805 angels/stars are fulfilled by you providing needy families with relief at Christmas through 12 different agencies. Health Ministry: Wednesday mornings Linden Grove rosary and communion; home communion visits for sick/homebound. Heavenly Babies Layettes: 35-50 Baby Showers in a Bag distributed to needy mothers through 10 agencies every month. Hope Center: 120+ guests served by parish volunteers at Meal Program twice/year in October and March. Hospitality: Welcomed 36 new families. Loaves and Fishes: Money, non-perishable donations 3rd Sundays to support KM and other food pantries and meal programs. Reverse Giving for the needs of KM Food Pantry Milwaukee Rescue Mission: Each Monday, 1 of 4 drivers delivers leftover Panera breads on behalf of St. Paul Parish. Mt. Meru Coffee: fair trade Tanzanian Coffee for sale in Gathering Space. Peru International Outreach Mission Trip June 2019, team of 23! 108 water filtration systems delivered Reformation Lutheran ADVENTure Day Christmas gifts created with youth of both parishes, Advent; backpacks/school supplies, August. Respect Life awareness and education; WI Right to Life ad; baby bottle collection ($5000+)for Life’s Connection. Sew Warm for the Needy: Volunteers cut/sew mittens, hats for the homeless. St. Ben’s Community Meal: Annually (since 1983), our parish alone feeds 3500+ struggling residents of Milwaukee 3rd Thursdays. St. Michaels: We support their parish efforts for new immigrant families from Southeast Asian countries in the areas of housing, jobs, computer education, English classes, etc. Work & Pray: knitted/crocheted prayer shawls for health ministry, baptismal blankets, and hats/blankets for Heavenly Babies. Card ministry creates and sends handmade “St. Paul Cares” cards to parishioners. GOALS: Continue to bring awareness and education to our parishioners about the many ministries and recruit additional volunteers to support these ministries with prayer, time, talent, and treasure.
