    Stewardship

    THE GIFT OF PEACE

“There arose no li le dissension and debate.” Did that happen at work this week? Most of us can recall run-ins with coworkers, even with the boss. Did it happen while socializing with friends? Go easy on poli cs, religion . . . even sports. At home? Even the most peaceful household experiences a li le “give and take” now and then. So where was it that “there arose no li le dissension and debate”? That tumultuous conflict occurred among our first Chris an ancestors, disrup ng the community life of the early church. But today’s Acts of the Apostles shows how beau fully the Holy Spirit, promised by Jesus in today’s Gospel, helped the church achieve a grace-filled resolu on. What evolved was that “reconciled diversity,” o en encouraged by Pope Francis and even envisioned in today’s Revela on passage; and a wondrous experience of Jesus’ promised Gospel gi : “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you.”

Alay Kay Maria (Floral Offering to Mary) On Friday, May 10, the Filipino Community of St. Norbert Church celebrated the 9th Alay Kay Maria (Floral Offering to Mary). We began with a floral

offering to Mary by the children. The Mass was celebrated by Father Fredy and followed with fellowship, dinner, and raffle. The signature Filipino dinner of lechon (roast pig), pansit (noodle), empanada, and many more was enjoyed by everyone while listening to the piano played by Guadalupe Sosmena & singing of Lucille Jus niani. This celebra on is a tradi on in the Philippines. Every day during the month of May, parents bring their children to offer flowers to Mary while they sing the tradi onal offering song "Dios de Salve Maria" and other hymns to Mary. The St. Norbert parish bulle n will publish the invita on again some me in April 2020. Also, every Sunday the Filipino Community core group of St. Norbert brings the statue of Mary to a family. • EL DON DE LA PAZ

“Surgieron no pocos desacuerdos y debates”.
