Faith Hope Love

Dear Children, Parents and Caregivers, Yesterday a wave of excitement took over the school. Mathematics was being used in earnest to ‘estimate’ the number of Jellybeans in the Jar. The prize? Not only the jellybeans, but the chance to be Principal for a Day. This morning, the results were announced. The correct number was 446 and the ONLY person who guessed correctly was Amelie Prentice from Miss Dobson’s Class. I heard from reliable sources that the children in 4D used some serious mathematical applications to try and determine reasonable estimates. It paid off! Congratulations to Amelie who will no doubt use her Principal Powers for good on a date to be determined. Special thanks go to Fete Coordinator, Mrs Jess Lothian and our Parents Association President, Ange Horton, for their organisation.

Grandparents and Special People Day

9:15am Mass 10:15am A few words from Mr. Moore (still in the church) The children then return to their classrooms 10:20am School Choir Performs for the Visitors 10:30am Special Visitors visit Classrooms then come to the Hall for Morning Tea

See you all tomorrow!

Fresh Dance Crews The Fresh Dance Crews work all term to learn a routine which then gets filmed and turned into a music video for all the children to keep. The children work to a movie camera and gain an amazing amount of self-confidence. They are an enthusiastic and creative group of children. Last term they paid tribute to Red Foo (hence the afros and animal print). Congratulations St Monica’s students Valentino Condello and Henry Carew, along with their fellow Aberfeldie Football Club team mates completed their Under 8’s season on the weekend . With no finals for under 8s the last game was greatly anticipated. Although most Sunday mornings were absolutely freezing, it was a highly successful season, with Valentino’s dad Dominic coaching the team to many great footballing moments.

We warmly welcome back Yas Berrill to St. Monica’s after six months of Long Service Leave. Yas used the time away to rest, relax, garden, travel and cook. We have missed Yas’ smiling face and her wonderful work as a Learning Support Officer. Over the next few weeks, Yas will also do some work in the Office in Chris James’ absence. We wish Chris James a happy month of Long Service Leave. Chris will be taking four weeks of leave, which coincides perfectly with the birth of her Grand-daughter last week (good planning on Grandma's part). Chris has no plans to travel, but you never know! We may find a postcard in the mail from an exotic destination. Last minute deals are always popping up! Over the next two weeks, Janine Turville will be taking some Long Service Leave as well. Janine is heading off to the United States of America. While her husband learns more about tyres (Janine’s husband owns the Bob Jane franchise in Mt. Alexander Road), Janine will be checking out the sights. A highlight of Janine’s trip will be a visit to New York City with her family.

Good Luck to the Netball Blue Team who will play St. Therese’s

in the Final

When: Tomorrow (Friday 24th July) Where: Senior Yard What time: 12:30pm

Music Lessons with Musicorp A reminder that a representative from Musicorp will demonstrate various instruments at tomorrow’s assem-bly at 3:00pm. This will give the children an opportunity to see the variety of instruments on offer and also give the parents a chance to meet with the coordinator afterwards, to answer any questions. Visitors in the Symons Centre Tomorrow we will have visitors in the Symons Centre from 1:00pm-4:00pm. Don’t head in there by mis-take, or you might be asked to do a presentation for the Catholic Education Office! Representatives from various schools will be coming from far and wide to attend the Student Services meeting. Our school will be represented by our Student Services and Student Wellbeing Coordinator, Mrs. Michelle Lawlor-McNamara.

Yesterday’s Bright Colours Casual Clothes Day was a huge hit (see a multi-coloured mix of students above). No doubt Amelie will be looking forward to helpful suggestions for her BIG day. I have heard three letters being repeated across the school: KFC. I can assure all students that when Amelie and I talk about being Principal, those three letters will be nowhere in the conversation! Regards and best wishes,

Peter Moore Principal

cessful methods and strategies. Make grants and award prizes to teachers and leaders who have demonstrated a particularly
