TRIP TO ITALY April 15-24, 2015
Book Now & Save Discount Deadline: October 9, 2014
PICTORIAL DIRECTORY If you have not yet signed up for an appointment for our new parish pictorial directory, please do so today! The best times we have for appointments are going fast. The dates of photography are Oct. 2-4 and Oct. 7-11. Weekday times will be 2-8:30; Saturday times will be 10:30-4. We will be happy to help you sign up after all Masses. There is no obligation to buy. In fact, the company we are using guarantees a NO PRESSURE approach! Also, every family photographed gets a free 8x10, a free parish directory, and earns extra books and pages for the parish!
PICTORIAL DIRECTORY VOLUNTEERS Would you like to get to know more people in our parish? Are you looking for a simple way in which you can help our church? In addition to having your photo taken for the new pictorial directory, would you consider helping by simply being available in the gathering space and Conference Room A while photos are being taken? A parish representative needs to be here at all times while the photographer is here, during the first two weeks in October. If you can help for a few hours, or even just for one hour, please contact Heather Schultz at [email protected], or at (734) 878-6493. Thank you!

DRIVE FOR THE KIDS IS COMING
TO ST. MARY SCHOOL! On Sunday, October 5, 2014, from 8:30 am to 1:00
pm Pinckney Chrysler will bring the Chrysler’s Drive for the
Kids fundraiser to our Men’s Club Breakfast – to help us
raise money for our students!
It’s fun! It’s easy! Look for the Chrysler tent.
Here’s how it works: Licensed drivers, age 18 and over, can
take a short test drive in an award-winning Town & Country
minivan and earn $10 for the school from Chrysler (one
donation per test driver). Everyone is invited to join in the
fun. There is no limit to the number of drives or Chrysler’s
contribution.
Just take a few minutes to check out the latest in
automotive innovations and “talk cars” if you choose with the
knowledgeable volunteers from Chrysler. Test the comfort,
safety, and driving features of Town & Country for yourself!
We hope you will support this project, and help us put our
fundraising goal over the top for St. Mary Catholic School.
PRAYER ICON COMING TO ST. MARY The Knights of Columbus has a traveling, framed image, of
the Immaculate Conception of Mary that will be on display at
St. Mary from September 24 to September 30. The image
used is a reproduction of a painting of Mary as the
Immaculate Conception that hangs above the main altar of
the Basilica-Cathedral of Notre-Dame de Quebec. It was
painted in 1925 by Sister Mary of the Eucharist, a sister of
Charity of Quebec, to replace the 18th-century painting
destroyed during a fire at the cathedral in 1923. The Knights
will hold a prayer service on Saturday, September 27,
after 5:00 Mass (at about 6:10) and should conclude at 6:30.
All are invited to attend.
St. Mary Catholic Parish – Sunday, September 21, 2014
VIRTUS TRAINING The Knights of Columbus will be hosting a Virtus training
class on Tuesday, September 23, at 7:30 pm, in the multi-use
room. This class is a requirement of the Diocese of Lansing
for anyone that is involved in any program or dealing with
children. Anyone who wants to attend is welcome. The class
is free.
MISSION TRIP TO THE DOMINICAN
REPUBLIC Have you always wanted to go on a mission trip but never
had the opportunity? Do you want to make a small difference
in this world? Are you curious as to what a mission trip
entails? If you answered yes to any of these, please attend an
information meeting about an upcoming mission trip to the
Dominican Republic. We will be working with medical
clinics along the border of the Dominican Republic & Haiti,
working in the newly opened preschool, and working with
the elderly. This meeting is open to the entire parish. Please
come and learn more. The meeting will be held
at 7pm on Tuesday, September 23rd
in Conference Room
B. A bonus for this trip is that it will be in February, therefore
giving the opportunity to escape the cold Michigan winter for
a week of warmth in the sun. We hope to see you at the
meeting.
DIVINE MERCY CENACLE On Monday Mornings
Right After 9AM Mass In Conference Room B
Come Learn About A Divine Mercy Cenacle It is a small faith-sharing group. We gather to learn how to
integrate the message that Our Lord shared with St. Faustina
in her Diary into our daily lives, along with readings from
Scripture and the Catechism of the Catholic Church, to have
a deeper trust in God, a greater ability to forgive others and a
stronger desire to be merciful to others. Please feel free to
come and visit our group! Questions contact Peggy White

ROAD RALLY
Mark your calendar for October 18th. St. Mary will be
holding a Road Rally Fun-Raiser at 6:30 pm. A Road Rally
is like a scavenger hunt. You solve a “clue”. That clue sends
you to a destination to find “something”. Join us as we
unravel clues, have a lot of fun and win fabulous prizes. The
evening includes the road rally, prizes, food, pop, beer, and
wine. Everyone is welcome so invite your friends, family
and neighbors. All proceeds go to the Student Enrichment
programs. Registration forms can be found in the church
gathering space, the school office or download the form;
www.stmarypinckney.org (current news & bulletin/current
happenings) hope to see you there. Thank you.

RCIA INVITATION “I have called you by name, you are mine.”
(Isaiah 43:1)
The invitation to respond to God’s call is extended to all who are interested in exploring the Catholic way of life. The RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) process is open to adults, teens, and children of catechetical age (7 years of age or older) who * Have never been baptized.
* Have been baptized Catholic but have not completed full initiation into the Church through Confirmation and/or Eucharist.
* Have been baptized in another faith.
* Would like to explore Roman Catholicism and make no commitment at this time.
RCIA Inquiry Meeting will be held September 25 at 7pm in Conference Room B. Meetings are open to EVERYONE! Please contact the parish office at 734-878-3161 for further information.
Also, if you are already a fully initiated Catholic and would like to be part of our team, please contact us!
RING THE BELL CAMPAIGN We as a faith community are praying that every parish
family will make a pledge, to the “Ring the Bell” campaign,
committing to help us to reach our much-needed goal. The
goal of this campaign is to raise $300,000.00; the first
$250,000.00 will go directly on the principal of our parish
debt, and the remaining $50,000 will be used toward building
a simple bell tower. Pledge cards are available at the back of
church. In addition to the pledge drive we have a box in the
gathering space each weekend for weekly “pocket change”.
If you are relatively new to St. Mary, consider joining
your fellow parishioners with a pledge to the Ring the Bell
Campaign. New donors to St. Mary Catholic Parish Capital
Campaign will have the opportunity to have your name(s)
placed on the recognition plaque in the gathering space. May
we place our trust in God knowing all things are possible
with Him.
Please join us on October 5th, at the Men’s Club
“Birthday Breakfast Bash” Fr. Bill’s Birthday; the proceeds
will go toward the “Ring the Bill Campaign”.
If you have any questions, please contact Debbie at the
parish office 734.878.3161 x 219.
Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts,
since as members of one body you were called to
peace. And be thankful. -Colossians 3:15

LIFE CHAIN Sunday, October 5th
from 2-3:30pm Life Chain is a peaceful, prayerful, legal, family friendly, nationwide PRO-LIFE demonstration! Members of communities throughout the nation will be forming a virtual life chain across the country on this day in support of life. Take a stand for life with hundreds of others in this visual statement against abortion. We will line the sidewalks of Main Street in Pinckney. Friendly signs will be available at the gazebo in the Pinckney Town Square. Feel free to bring folding chairs. Come rain or shine and bring a friend! Stay for whatever time you can, but please come! Donations are welcome to cover the cost of the signs. Please do not park on Main Street. Together, with Christ, we can make a difference. SPECIAL COLLECTION – SEPT. 27-28 Thank you for making last year’s Help Spread the FAITH
Appeal a success. Thank you for answering Christ’s call to
evangelize. The Help Spread the Faith makes our own local
evangelization efforts, like FAITH magazine and the
televised Outreach Mass, possible.
By supporting St. Mary Parish and our diocese in this
Help Spread the FAITH Appeal, you will enable us to carry
out evangelization efforts in St. Mary, our diocese, and the
nation. Your support ensures that FAITH magazine will
continue to be sent to every Catholic home in the Diocese of
Lansing. You will ensure that the Outreach Mass will
continue to be broadcast and the U.S. Bishops will continue
their national evangelization efforts. Christ called us to
proclaim the Gospel from the mountaintop. In today’s
society, that is a big challenge. We all know the power of the
media. With your support, we can use that power to reach
out with a positive message – a message that we belong to
someone – Jesus. Thank you for your consideration.
