RosaryEach Wednesday morning after the 8:15 a.m. Mass, join us as we pray the Rosary.

It is with joy and thanksgiving we announce and celebrate that Scott Kopp (son of Mike and Mary Lou Comignaghi) was ordained to the priesthood on Saturday, June 17th at the St. Columba Cathedral in Youngstown.

We congratulate Father Scott for his many years of sacrifi ce and discernment as he begins a new life given over to Jesus. By the nature of Holy Orders, Father Scott has begun a lifetime vocation within the Church.

Please continue to pray for Father Scott and his ministry.“This is the day the Lord has made. Let us rejoice in it and be glad!” (Psalm 118:24)

Spiritual Notes:We move from celebrating God as mystery on Trinity Sunday, to focusing on God’s desire to be united with us as we celebrate today’s solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ. For us as Christians, God is both immanent and transcendent: within and beyond. The manna with which God feeds the Israelites in wilderness for 40 years foreshadows the Eucharist, the true bread from heaven. During their time in the wilderness, Israel learns to trust the Lord. Moses calls the people to remember how the Lord, your God, has directed all your journeying, in order that they might learn to depend on God. The water…from the fl inty rock, is a sign of God’s concern for them and anticipates the living water given to us in Jesus, as seen in John 4, the story of the Samaritan woman. In the Gospel, Jesus declares himself the living bread that came down from heaven. By sharing in this heavenly food, we receive the promise of eternal life. Jesus refers to manna, the bread that came down from heaven in the time of their ancestors, but they still died. He gives something greater than manna. The bread he gives enables us to have life because of him and live forever. Paul’s fi rst letter to the Corinthians is prompted by some concerns he has about their behavior. One of the problem areas is the manner in which they are celebrating the Lord’s Supper, the Eucharist. In today’s reading Paul reminds them that in sharing the cup of blessing and the bread that we break, we share in the life of Christ. Eucharist unites us with each other and with God, for we though many, are one body. Therefore we should strive to approach the Lord’s Table worthily. For Refl ection: How does receiving the Eucharist impact my life? Do I see myself united with the church as well as with God, when I share the Eucharist?

Here we unite in worship, proclaim Your word, celebrate the Eucharist, and are sent forth to share Your love and make disciples. Lord, we take Your Great Commission seriously and long for our parish to be so on fi re that we draw people to You. Help us in that endeavor, as we strive to work together – ordained, religious and laity. Please make our parish amazing, through Your power and Your grace. Amen.
