Dec 6th - Christmas Party Bring a $5 wrapped gift for our
annual gift exchange
Dec 13th - Tasty Tunes and Treats Show up ear ly to help set up
the tables for the treats, then enjoy singing with the church. We slip
out early to help with final prep of the treats as well as cleanup.
Dec 20th - Cookie Exchange and Games Bring cookies or baked
goods to share while we play games led by Travis.
Dec 27th - No UMYF Merry Chr istmas & a Happy New Year

Children’s Ministry
Family Drive-In Movie Time! Please join us this Saturday in the back room to watch The Polar
Express. We will have hot chocolate, popcorn, and other fun
yummy treats. The movie will start at 6:30 pm; and you can bring
blankets and wear your jammies to be comfy.
Christmas Musical - Dress Rehearsal! Dress Rehearsal for the Christmas Musical is Sunday (Dec. 6), from
3:30 to 5:00 pm in the Sanctuary. Parents, please bring your child to
this rehearsal and make sure he/she has the music binder.
Happy Birthday Jesus Party This Sunday at the 9:45 service time, the Steppers and Preschool
Sunday School classes will be celebrating the birth of Jesus with a
“Happy Birthday Jesus” party. The 11:00 am Steppers class will
also be celebrating. Your little ones are sure to have fun!
Celebrate Advent as a Family The Advent season is a time to prepare ourselves for Christmas and
remembering Jesus’ birth. Mrs. Lindsey has created an Advent study
for families. This is a chance to slow down and remember the reason

Sunday Morning for Kids Kids' Connection (9:45 am) Children's Worship for K-5th grade.
We begin with worship in the Sanctuary then transition after the
Children's Message to the backroom.
Adventure Zone (11:00 am) Rotation based classes for ages 3
(since last Sept 1) through 5th grade. We meet in room 127 then
break into groups for Bible study, craft, and games.

Christmas and 5th Sunday Salute In the hallway on the 5th Sunday Salute tables, you will see
Christmas cards for each military personnel. Please take a moment
to sign the cards to let our military know we care. The cards will be
out for two Sundays - Dec. 6th & 13th.

It’s time for our annual Christmas ornament
exchange! Bring an ornament - homemade or store
bought, ranging from $5 - $10, wrapped; and join
us this Saturday, from 10:00 am to noon in room
127 (backroom).
Kids Against Hunger SJA Packing Event There is one scheduled packing events remaining - this Saturday,
Dec. 5th and it’s here at SJA! Please volunteer! This is the last
chance to sign up on-line: click here. We are hoping to pack a lot of
meals this time, so invite your friends and family. We are going to
have 5 lines set up and the start times will be 9:00 am,10:30 am, and
12:00 pm. The nursery will be open from 8:45 am to 12:00 pm.

December Graduations We would like to celebrate the accomplishments and recognize
those who graduate in December. If you have a loved one that
graduated from college or early from High School, please let us
know. Send a picture, his/her name, degree, and the name of the
school/university, to [email protected] or drop off a picture
to the church office during regular business hours. We will feature
him/her in the January Monthly Newsletter.

Upward Sports
Upward Sports Registration for Soccer Begins! SJA is gearing up again for soccer in the spring and registration has
begun for K4 - 6th grade boys and girls. Look for brochures located
in the hallway to sign up or click here to sign up online.
Drop off the completed application and fee either at the church
office during regular business hours or place it the box provided on
the Upward display table. Early registration ends January 14th - sign
up early to save $. Final deadline is February 13th.
Volunteer and Make Upward Soccer a Success! The 2016 season for Upward Soccer will be here before you know
it. We need volunteers to make this season a great success. Sign up
at the Upwards Soccer display table in the SJA hallway.

Musical
All are invited to see the
Christmas musical that our
own SJA children are
performing on Sun., Dec.
20th at 4:30 pm.
There will be a “Cookie Social” immediately following the musical.
If you would like to do so, bring cookies to share.
Thanksgiving Bags Your SJA Missions Team, Arlington Urban Ministries, and
Arlington Charities would like to thank all those who helped make
someone else's Thanksgiving possible this year with your generous
donations. A total of 67 bags, turkeys, and ham were delivered this
year. Thank you for your loving support.
Hanging of the Greens Parents, grab your cameras! Invite family! It’s time for Hanging of
the Greens. This Sunday, our SJA kiddos will be hanging ornaments
on the Christmas (Jesse) tree in the sanctuary, and our littlest ones
will put up the Nativity scene in the 9:45 am service.
White Gift Sundays We at SJA are helping those who need life’s essentials through
“White Gift Sundays”. Click here to learn more about this and to get
a list of suggested items or pick up the same information in the
hallway. Purchase gift(s) and place it under the Christmas tree in the
sanctuary on either Dec. 6, 13 or 20th.
Looking for Sunday Morning Counters We are looking for members who would like to counting the
offering and prepare the deposit. Here is what you need to know:
1. As a counter, you work with another person and count the
offering once every 8 weeks.
2. Each counting team decides when they want to count the offering.
Some teams count during the 11:00 service; other teams count after
the 11:00 service. Counting the offering and preparing the deposit
usually takes about 1 hour.
3. You need to be able to use a calculator and an adding machine
and to maintain confidentiality.
4. Training will be provided.
5. Contact Barbara Wood at [email protected] or at 817-378-
4338 if you are interested in serving or if you have questions. If you
are interested, please let Barbara know if you would be able to count
during or after the 11:00 service.
Life Groups Christmas Party Please join us for an evening of festive fun! If you are considering a
Life group or would like to come and enjoy Christmas with friends,
all are welcome! Bring your favorite holiday dish to share!
