QUOTE OF THE WEEK
Don’t ever save anything for a special occasion.
Being alive is a special occasion.

“For whoever is not against us is for us.” Mark 9:40
The practice of stewardship should not provoke quarrels and factions. There are many different ways a person or a parish can practice stewardship. Anyone who is trying to practice
stewardship is part of a common journey in faith.

cese. The only other requirements are patience and love.
* 3 meetings to make cards for our home-bound and elderly in the St. Bernard Parish Community (2 of these
meetings include an 8:15 a.m. Mass.)
* Read 6 times with your foster grandchildren once
a month if your schedule allows.
REST IN PEACE
Please pray for the family and friends of Robert Stinson, father of Annie Barker and grandfather of Emma Greenfield and Owen Barker; Douglas Schmidt, son of Mary Jo Schmidt; and Kenneth Vincent, father of Paula Schreck and grandfather of
Julia, Lauren and William Schreck, who passed away recently.
May they enjoy the Eternal Peace of the Risen Lord.

THIS COMING WEEK
UNLOCKING THE MYSTERY OF THE BIBLE
This Monday, Oct. 1, in our "Unlocking the Mysteries of the
Bible" Study, only the afternoon group (Noon – 1:00 PM in
the All Saints Room) will be meeting. We will be taking a
look at the Bible Narrative Books of Exodus and Numbers. In
this week’s segment, we will be learning about the time periods
of "Egypt and Exodus" when God freed his people from
slavery so they could worship him. God also taught Israel to
trust him through forty years of "Desert Wanderings." Join us
to get the full story and find out what you DON’T know about
this period of Bible history and how it relates to your life
today.
PLEASE NOTE: The evening session will not meet on Oct. 1
due to school conferences. Evening sessions will resume
Monday, Oct. 8.
“The Connection” quarterly parish newsletter announcements and information for the months of November 11, through February 9, 2019, should be in the marked envelope located on the bulletin board by the school office, by next weekend, October 7. Information may also be emailed to

Fifth Street on Sunday, October 21 at 2:00 p.m. Family members are also invited to the celebration. Each couple will receive a certificate commemorating the
occasion.

SPECIAL MASS FOR THOSE GRIEVING THE LOSS OF
A CHILD THROUGH MISCARRIAGE OR STILLBIRTH
The Family Ministries Office is offering a special Archdiocesan Mass for those mourning the loss of a child through
miscarriage or stillbirth.
The Mass will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, October 14, 2018 at Our Lady of the Woods Chapel, located on the campus of Bellarmine University at 2001 Newburg Road, Louisville, KY 40205. Please contact the Family Ministries Office at (502) 636
-0296 or [email protected] for more information.
This Mass is intended to provide comfort and an opportunity to grieve together in Christ's presence with others who have experienced this particular type of loss. With this in mind, we ask that only those actually affected by it, along with their
families, attend this special liturgy.
DAY OF PRAYER AND FASTING
Archbishop Kurtz invites Catholics throughout the
Archdiocese to join him in a Day of Prayer and Fasting on
Friday, October 5. This day is being observed to inspire
solidarity with victims of sexual abuse, to highlight efforts to
renew and repair our Church, and to renew our clergy in
their faithfulness to Christ in virtue and in service. The day
will end with a prayer service, 6 p.m., at Holy Family Church,
3938 Poplar Level Road, Louisville. The prayer service at
Holy Family is open to the public; Catholics also are invited to
observe a time of prayer in their homes or parishes.
HEALING MASS
The Heart of Jesus Prayer Group will host a Charismatic Heal-
ing Mass on Wednesday, October 17, at 7:00 p.m. at Holy
Family Church, 3938 Poplar Level Road. Father Bob Ray will
preside, and an opportunity will be provid-
ed for the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

Furmanek at 502-608-3529.
