World Literacy DayThursday,September 8

The main aim of world literacy day is to emphasize the importance of literacy to individuals, communities and societies. Based on certain global researches of UNESCO there are still many adults who are illiterate. With an international day that celebrates literacy, this allows people of all ages to have a chance to experience literacy. World literacy day also aims to raise awareness of the importance of literacy in today’s current society,

World Literacy Foundation

The World Literacy Foundation is a global not-for-profit organisation working to lift young people out of poverty through the power of literacy.

They believe that every child should be able to read and write so they can enjoy lifelong learning and empowerment.

They are also committed to building strong partnerships, providing assistance to grassroots literacy organisations and maximizing our impact through innovative solutions that bring quality education materials to classrooms across the world.

What made the Social Entrepreneur come up with this initiative? They believe that education is a fundamental human right, and that all individuals should be afforded the same opportunities for their future – including access to basic education that made the social entrepreneur come up with this initiative.

Since its establishment in 2003, the World Literacy Foundation has steadily grown

to align with the needs of a continually evolving education sector. They have

forged partnerships with other leading educational organisations, and have built

long-lasting relationships with communities around the world.

Did it cause anything to pursue the venture? What did they hope to achieve?

The World Literacy Foundation spent lots of time and resources to pursue the venture.

They aim to advocate better global literacy standards, and is excited to establish new, innovative programs in this next phase of the organisation.1 out of 5 people in the world are unable to read or write and they are here to change it.

Social Entrepreneur

They are people who establishes an enterprise with the aim of solving or affecting social problems. What we feel is inspiring about them is that they would spent their time helping others and not expecting anything in return.

They place others before them, willing to leave familiar and comfortable surroundings to help others.

We have realized that providing financial capital alone is not enough to encourage

innovation and to scale and replicate solutions that work. We have also came to

know that introducing new concepts such as “social business” is useful, but only if

such concepts are filled with meaning and attain legal status.Lastly, a new industry

aiming at financing social impact can be built only “along with” and not “on top of”

existing funding mechanisms and vehicles for social initiatives.

Our Reflections
