SPARWOOD CONNECTOR
In 2011, the new Elk River Bridge was constructed, creating a new link between Lower Sparwood and Sparwood Heights. Now the main trail in Sparwood, the Sparwood Connector provides access to the Elk River, Michel Creek and the Elk River Trail.
ELK VALLEY TRAIL (EVT)
The EVT is a new trail being developed in 2016 that will connect Elko to Elkford. This 143 km trail utilizes the Coal Discovery Trail and designated as part of the Trans Canada Trail, the EVT will be a premier single track mountain biking and hiking trail. Explore sections of the trail or even take a weekend and travel the length of the Elk Valley visiting all the communities along the way. We hope to have the full trail open by June of 2017.

YOUTH ACTION SPARWOOD (YAS)
Youth Action Sparwood, or YAS, is a youth-directed, community-supported organization for Sparwood Youth aged 12 to 18. We are generously supported by funding from the Columbia Basin Trust, as well as the support of District of Sparwood, who provide administrative oversight and a 3-year grant-in-aid which supports access to the Leisure Centre for our programming. We are overseen by a commission which includes community stakeholders from Teck, District Council, SD5, District staff, RCMP, Interior Health and three Sparwood youth.
Our main objective is to make more recreation opportunities available to ALL Sparwood youth and engage teens in community life. Youth Action Sparwood supports a community culture of safety and wellbeing for youth. For more information on upcoming YAS events see page 10 of the brochure.
