KABHI KHUSHI, KABHI GHAM (2001) (PG)- BOLLYWOOD SEASON
The final, and most recent, film in our great Bachchan trilogy is the story of Rahul (Shahrukh Khan), the adopted son of multi-millionaire Yashovardhan Raichand (Amitabh Bachchan). When Rahul disappoints his father by marrying the wrong girl, Anjali (Kajol) he is disowned. Rahul and Anjali move to London. 10 years later Rahul’s younger brother, Rohan (Hrithik Roshan) tracks them down in an attempt to re-unite the family. Khan, Bachchan, and Roshan have a wonderful three way chemistry, and the bubbly Kajol is the icing on the cake. Also admirable is Jaya Bachchan as the family matriarch who never stops longing for her elder son’s return... she and Shahrukh Khan share a screen relationship that is authentically warm and completely believable. Not to be missed! With subtitles. 2pm

STEAMBOY (PG)- DIR. KATSUHIRO OTOMO
Katsuhiro Otomo, director of the groundbreaking anime feature Akira, returns with this visually striking fusion of the past and the future. It’s the Industrial Age in England, reimagined, and sundry inventors and scientists are arriving in Britain to hawk their products while capitalism rears its ugly head. Most amazingly, the first piece of action takes place on the beautifully drawn stretch of rail track between Bury and Rawtenstall! A complicated and wandering storyline but a must see for fans of Steampunk. 7pm

Deep below snowy, cobblestone streets, tucked away in winding tunnels, lives a civilization of hardworking mice, terrified of the bears who live above ground. Unlike her fellow mice, Celestine is an artist and a dreamer and when she nearly ends up as breakfast for bear Ernest, the two form an unlikely bond. This is a world where Bears live above ground in cities, and rodents are forced underground. Our two heroes stand up for love in the face of bigotry and achieve the impossible… a film for all the family. Hard to fault… the lead duo are among the most engaging cartoon characters ever! 7pm
