PRESIDENTmessage from the

It is that time of year when all things

seem possible once again. Just getting outdoors more often is so sweet and inspiring. While it has been a busy spring at the Foundation, you will certainly

see a noticeable uptick in engaging the community in more ways than ever this summer!

You’ve probably noticed the new look of this edition of The Pillar. We will continue to provide information and perspective on all of the services of the Foundation, but with a fresh contemporary feel we are confident you will enjoy.

Come mix and mingle with the region’s most active business people when we co-host a “Business Before Hours” with the Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce and our nonprofit neighbors on Tuesday June 7th 7:30 – 9:30 am.

This summer we will celebrate the 5th anniversary of The Women’s Fund with a luncheon on June 24th from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Dove Pointe. Please join us in celebrating five years of supporting programs and projects that specifically benefit women and girls on the Lower Shore of Maryland.

Foundation board members and staff will be attending many charitable events this summer with our nonprofit partners. We look forward to seeing you soon and wish you the best for a safe and enjoyable Spring and Summer!

With warmest regards,

- EricaErica JosephPresident, CFES

Marilyn and Marty Neat

It’s not unusual to see Marty and Marilyn Neat involved in a variety of wonderful causes around the community, so

it is no surprise that they would choose to become Legacy Society Members. With a wide variety of interests and a soft-spot for philanthropy, the Neats wanted to create a resource that would be an everlasting benefi t to the community. They feel that the Community Foundation serves and provides support for so many of their interests, that it was a natural fi t to establish these gifts through the Community Foundation.

Marty, President at First Shore Federal, believes that planning for the future in all aspects of life is important. It is Marty’s hope that through the Legacy Society he and Marilyn can give back to a community that made his own good fortune possible.

“The growth and good work of the Community Foundation over the years that we’ve been together has been a great inspiration to us,” states Marty. “It’s an opportunity to make a difference, even on a comparatively modest level, even if we’re not here to see it.”
