From the Executive Director Excited to share that we are ending 2018-19 with SPEF funding over $118,000 back to Stillwater Public Schools this school year! This is a record high and the SPEF Board of Trustees and I are extremely proud! It's amazing to see what a difference the additional funds from SPEF make across the district for both our teachers & students! Grant Title: Impacting Our Future Through Seeing the Future School Site: Stillwater Junior High School and Stillwater High School Grant Writer: Robby Branscum Amount: $4,000 Livestock ultrasound machine for Ag Ed students to test for pregnancy rates, determine gender, measure growth and development, and predict due dates during animal husbandry lessons, as well as offering one-day workshops for elementary school students. Grant Title: Taking Code to New Elevations School Site: Stillwater Middle School Grant Writer: Garrett Sullivan Amount: $4,000 Provides for students to learn basic coding and aerial technology and drone skills, utilizing Mambo drones for a hands-on approach to computer science, math, and science. Grant Title: Transitioning to the Next Phase of Life School Site: Stillwater High School Grant Writer: Austin Hula Amount: $3,200 Tools to prepare students with special needs items to increase independence, explore future careers, and improve skills that can be utilized for employment and life post-graduation. Grant Title: 3D Models for Hands-On, Minds-On Science School Site: Stillwater High School Grant Writer: Traci Richardson Amount: $3,620 Provides models and materials to learn about biological phenomena in order to synthesize and analyze through visual interactions and make predictions about relationships using the components of molecular structures.

Tech 2 Teach  Happy  to  report  that  SPEF's2018 Tech 2 Teach campaignexceeded our goal! With closeto  $36,000, we were  able  topurchase  119  new  iPads  foruse  in  Kindergarten  acrossthe district, as well as providefunds to purchase educationalapps  for  students  to  use  onthe  iPads!  Thank  you  againfor your great support of thiseffort  to  increase  neededtechnology in our district!

Adopt-an-Author In March, secondary studentswere treated to a visit fromauthor  ! SheJennifer Lathamfocused on her book (aSequoyah  Award nominee)"Dreamland Burning," which is ayoung adult, historical fictionnovel about the 1921 Tulsa raceriot. The students were captivatedas she shared the history andincredible side-stories she learnedduring her research for the book.She walked them through thepublishing process as well. Soglad SPEF is able to sponsor theseamazing author visits through ourAdopt-an-Author fund! 

 

Partnership withOSU Museum of ArtAdvocates  At the beginning of this schoolyear, SPEF received a generousdonation from the OSU Museum

 to support visualof Art Advocatesarts in Stillwater schools! Thisspring, a $1,500 grant wasawarded to create a traveling artexhibit to incorporate the artsinto core classes! It was writtenby Crista McCann-MS (pictured),Susan Yeager-JH and SuzanneTackett-WW!

student news reports for the school.  Grant Title: Applying Math and Building STEMSchool Site: Skyline ElementaryGrant Writer: Seth BermanAmount: $750Provides funds for BrickLAB materials forschool use in STEM activities.  Grant Title: Let’s Shake it Up: A Structural EngineeringGrant

School Site: Westwood ElementaryGrant Writer: Rebecca PalmataryAmount: $725Provides funds for several structuralengineering kits and tool-sets to createstructures and measure stability inearthquakes and other effects.

Outgoing Trustees It's always sad to saygoodbye to wonderfultrustees! Thank you to theseindividuals for their hard workto further SPEF's mission! Wetruly appreciate their time &service! Each will be missedas they step away from theSPEF Board at the end of thisschool year.

 Taste of Stillwater 2019 was a big success! Thank you toall  who  attended,  donated  and  supported  our  event  onMarch  12  benefiting  public  education  in  our  community,which raised over $15,000! More than 1,100 ticket holderscame  through  the  doors  to  sample  delicious  food  &beverages  donated  from  35+  area  restaurants  andbusinesses! We truly appreciate all those who continue tomake  this  tasty  fundraiser  possible  with  their  generouscontributions and attendance! Extra special thanks to the following 2019 Taste ofStillwater participants and donors!
