Experience It! Carnival in New Orleans While many people outside of New Orleans believe that Mardi Gras is a one day

event, it’s an actual season that begins January 6th and ends on Fat Tuesday, or

Mardi Gras (the day before Ash Wednesday). The two weekends leading up to

Fat Tuesday are when the larger parades start rolling down the main streets of New Orleans, and the celebratory spirit of this season goes into full swing. On

this special departure, you’ll be captivated by two parades – the first at night, the

other during the day. These are made possible by some of the many “krewes” who build parade floats each year. Each Mardi Gras parade krewe has a unique

history and theme. While some have been around for decades, others have been

in existence for just a few years. To be in New Orleans on the days leading up to

Mardi Gras is one of the most unique experiences you’ll ever have; to the locals, it truly is “The Greatest Free Show on Earth!”
