History The first cinematographic exhibitions in Spain took place in Madrid in May, 1896. From 1896, many they were, foreign or native, those who exploited the new invention for the whole Peninsula: Charles Kalb, Eduardo Moreno, Eduardo Gimeno, Antonio de la Rosa, Juan Minuesa, Alexandre de Azevedo, Joseph Sellier ... the first tapes rolled in Spain were in Barcelona and Madrid, in June, 1896. The first Spanish director of international success was A Segundo de Chomón, which was employed at France and Italy.

First Movie The first movie with argument was A “Riña en un café”(1897), of the prolific photographer and the Barcelonian director Fructuós Gelabert.
