Stop for lunch at the Mountain Inn Restaurant at DeSoto Lodge ($7-20/person) Return to Fort Payne to visit Big Mill Co. to shop for local artwork and antiques. Stay in the historic downtown area for dinner at a local gathering place in Fort Payne, The Strand. If you’re lucky, you might see country music artist, Randy Owen from the country music group, Alabama. Take the short hike or drive to Little River Falls. Continue along the Little River Canyon National Preserve scenic drive and stop at the overlooks. In the wet season, stop at the Grace Falls overlook to see a waterfall comparable to what you might see in a jungle. At the end of this scenic drive, stop by Orbix Hot Glass to shop for locally made, refined glassware. If the artists are blowing glass, visitors are welcome to watch. Blow your own glass ornament classes are also available upon appointment. Return to Fort Payne for Dinner at Ol’ Tymers BBQ. Visit Material Girl’s for fabric, sewing patterns, quilting and embroidery supplies and lessons upon appointment.

Walk to the Alabama Gift Company to shop for baskets, food, books, pottery and more, all made in Alabama.

Drive to Hobby Lobby to shop for your own craft supplies.
