Prep steps for longarm quilting• Square your quilt top and back • Press back and top. Press back seams to the sides. • Avoid using selvedge edges in the seams of your quilt back. It’s fine to leave them on outer edges, where you don’t quilt.• Measure the width and length. Write it down!• Assure that your quilt back and batting are 6” - 10” longer and wider than the top. For example, if your quilt top measures 60” x 80,” you back and batting should measure 68” x 88.”• Cut away loose threads to prevent “shadows” on your quilt top.

Learn to use Gammill Longarm hand or computerized Statler Stitcher guided machines and quilt it yourself! Laurena covers the basics in an Introduction to Longarm Quilting small group class. The cost is $60, lasts 4 hours and gives you $20 credit toward your first studio session. After you take the Introduction class, book your studio block:

• Mini (3 hours for $60)• Half day (4 hours for $80) • Full day ($140 maximum 8 hours)
