Root of the Problem

Current Traffic Demand Entering / Leaving KL CPA via MRR 1 = 111,000 vph

(a) At LOS “C” (1,000 vph/lane)

Total Lanes Required = 111,000/1,000

= 111 lanes

(b) At LOS “E” (2,000 vph/lane)

Total Lanes Required = 111,000/2,000

= 55 lanes

(c) At LOS “F” (2,200 vph/lane)

Total Lanes Required = 111,000/2,200

= 50 lanes

KL City Bypass provides easy, efficient and congestion free passages to the Integrated Park & Ride Facilities;

KL City Bypass can become the new city limit;

Integrated Park & Ride Facilities encourage motorists to switch from self-drive to ICM Modal;

Congestion Charges could further compel the use of public transports;

Commercial Developments within the Integrated Park & Ride Facilities could cross subsidize Parking Rates and make these facilities lively even at night.

Conclusion

All Rights Reserved29

Investing in Integrated Park & Rides Facilities:

» Remove street parkings in the City;

» Allow developers to construct less car parks and channeled the money saved into construction of more Park & Ride facilities;

Less congestion = less fatigue and stress

Less congestion = less carbon emission

SMARTER CITY!!
