Be amazed at what you can do!
SOEC Ltd is a wholly owned subsidiary company of Scottish Environmental & Outdoor Education Centres Association
Limited, a charity which owns and operates 3 residential outdoor education centres in Scotland.
We believe the work we undertake with young people has never been as important as it is today. The world is changing
and young people will face major challenges in the coming decades. SOEC aims to provide the young people who visit
us with positive experiences to enable them to acquire the values, qualities, attributes and competencies that are
essential in this changing world.
There is strong convergence between these needs and the outcomes sought in the Curriculum
for Excellence and Getting it Right for Every Child and Young Person.
SOEC programmes therefore aim to deliver these outcomes. Curriculum for Excellence signals a
major shift to developing in young people the values, qualities and competencies necessary for
them to become successful learners, responsible citizens, effective contributors and confident
individuals. Schools are responding to this new agenda but there can be fewer media able to
deliver these areas better than Outdoor Learning.
As a social enterprise SOEC has an important role in supporting the delivery of these
Government polices. We have been providing outdoor learning since 1947 and need new team
members to help us continue this work.
About Us

Our Programmes
SOEC offers set educational programmes to schools including
• Transition to S1 programme.
• Multi activity programme
• Environmental programme
In addition to our school programmes Tutors will deliver a range of other programmes to a wide variety of group types.
These include environmental and outdoor activities and we are therefore seeking a number of people for our staff team
who hold NGB qualifications and/or a degree in an outdoor learning or environmental subject to deliver these
educational programmes.
In addition we have groups visit us for fun and learning as part of their own programme, for example study or music and
need experienced outdoor tutor staff able to deliver safe, enjoyable and fun learning opportunities.
