We have requested assistance from neighboring cooperatives that are unaffected by the storm. A crew from West Central Electric (Murdo, SD) should be arriving later today to help with power restoration.

12:10 p.m. 14Apr2018: Union County Electric: Crews responded to reports of several broken poles during the overnight hours. We have received additional reports of broken poles late this morning. In the event you experience a power outrage, please notify us by calling 356-3395. Crews will respond as quickly as possible, based on the weather conditions. As always, if you see a downed powerline, assume it is live and do not approach the line.

11:30 a.m. 14Apr2018: Charles Mix Electric: At 10 am, the line crew was able to restore power to the LA Housing just southeast of Lake Andes.

11:12 a.m. 14Apr2018: Southeastern Electric: Outage update: All members currently have power restored! Hopefully the crews will get a chance to get some well deserved rest. But If you still do not have power or you experience an outage please call 800-333-2958 as soon as you can. Once again, we appreciate your patience during this storm.

11 a.m. 14Apr2018 – Sioux Valley Energy: We still have just under 600 members without power. The line crews will begin work as soon as it is safe to do so. We have lined up heavy equipment to move snow once the weather lets up—this will allow us to get to the areas we need to reach to restore power.

9:40 a.m. 14Apr2018: Southeastern Electric: Outage Update: We only have about 70 members out of power at this time. Most of the outages are in the Salem, Montrose areas. Crews are out in these areas but progress is slow due to the weather and traveling conditions. The line crew have reported some broken poles and ice build up on overhead lines as the causes of outages and blinks. Crews will be working on getting everyone back one as fast and safely as possible. Again, we appreciate your patience.

9:35 a.m. 14Apr2018: Bon Homme Yankton: It has been reported by the line crew that the ice is the size of pop cans. This puts quite a bit of weight on the lines and then the wind blows or the ice drops off, the lines can break or touch causing major issues. Please be patient with our line crews as they are working in challenging conditions with roads that are designated no travel advised.

9:25 a.m. 14Apr2018: Charles Mix Electric: With a slight lull in the wind, the LA crew is working on restoring power just south of Lake Andes. Hopefully the weather will improve as the day goes on so that crews can get to some of the major line outages. Stay tuned for updates.

9:15 a.m. 14Apr2018: Bon Homme Yankton: Bon Homme Yankton Electric outage crews have responded to several outages north of Avon. There is a light coating of ice aggravated by the wind. Report your outage or damage to electric lines by calling 605-463-2507. EMAIL 8:39 a.m. 14Apr2018: East River Electric Power Cooperative: Operations Manager Dan Coomes sent the following message to all ER employees: Last night WAPA lost the 230 kV feed coming into VT Hanlon. Most substations have been transferred to other sources. Orland is still out of power due to broken poles (two poles) on the Orland tap. We also had some issues with line galloping causing breaker operations out of Arlington, Armour, the 115 kV lines on the east side of Sioux Falls. We did have a report of a line down east of Corsica. This line section was switched out from a previous operation last night and is not energized. We have contracted the local sheriff. We currently do not have any crews out due to the extreme low visibility and poor road conditions. We will keep people updated as the situation changes. Give me a call if there are any questions: 605-291-6284 Approx. 8:15 a.m. 14Apr2018: Charles Mix Electric: Heavy snow and whiteout conditions have made it impossible to Travel or make any attempts at power restoration at this time. Crews Have been asked to shelter in place until further notice. We will continue to monitor weather conditions and will dispatch crews when we can safely do so.

Approx. 8:10 a.m. 14Apr2018: Central Electric: OUTAGE UPDATE: Our system began accumulating ice late afternoon on Friday which has caused blinking and outages in the eastern part of our territory. The majority of the power outages are in southern Davison County along with some scattered outages in Hanson, Sanborn and Miner Counties. Visibility and road conditions do not allow our crews to travel at this time. Our crews are anxiously waiting and will begin the work of restoring power as soon as conditions allow. We thank our members for your patience and understanding. In case of an outage, please notify our dispatch at 800-477-2892.
