STATE TIMES NEWS JAMMU: Several State Government employees on Saturday attained superannu- ation in their respective departments. Department of Forests bade an affectionate farewell to Chief Conservator Forests (CCF) Abdul Gani (IFS 1995), who attained superan- nuation after serving the Department for 35 years. Services of the retiring offi- cer were highly appreciated on the occasion. On the occasion, Gani was presented a shawl and a memento as a token of appre- ciation to his services for the Department. The officers and officials of the Department wished the retiring Chief Conservator a happy and pros- perous post-retirement life. Besides, Mohammad Farooq Bhat, Head Assistant and Shakeela Bano were also given a warm send off on their superannuation. In this regard, a farewell function was held in the Directorate under the chair- manship of Anuradha Gupta, Director School Education, Jammu in which all the employees of the Directorate participated and wished both the retiring officers a happy and healthy post retirement life. Born in 1959 in Kupwara district of north Kashmir Khan was appointed in J&K police in the year 1977. Employees attain superannuation 13 Sunday March 31, 2019 STATE TIMES NEWS SHOPIAN: Deputy Commissioner Shopian, Dr Owais Ahmed along with offi- cials of Mechanical Engineering Department, R&B and Mughal Road Division Shopian on Saturday took a detailed stock of snow clearance work on Mughal Road Mughal road that connects Kashmir through Shopian with Poonch and Rajouri in Jammu region. Deputy Commissioner said that men and machinery are working on war footing, but the avalanches on most of the areas hampering the work. He urged the officials to make proper use of safety gadgets while execut- ing works to ensure complete of safety measures. He also advised people and tourists to visit the area after consulting the authorities to avert any kind of accident, adding it would take more time to clear snow from the road. He said the road would be thrown open more probably in the third week of April for transport, but subject to favor- able weather conditions. The snow clearance process was started this month and almost 23 kilometers of road stretch has been cleared by the author- ities. NC Minority Cell seeks support of displaced electors for strengthening secular ethos STATE TIMES NEWS JAMMU: The Jammu and Kashmir State Pollution Control Board (SPCB) on Saturday carried out an anti- polythene drive in industrial area Gangyal Jammu and seized around 1,380 kilograms of banned polythene material. The drive was conducted under the direct supervision of Member- Secretary J&K SPCB, B.M Sharma and Regional Director Jammu, Shally Ranjan on the directions of Chairman SPCB, Ravi Kesar. Regional Director SPCB directed the anti-polythene squad to intensify the raids in the Jammu city, outskirts and industrial areas as well to curb the menace of banned stuff of polythene bags. The SPCB team called upon the traders, shopkeepers, hawk- ers and the general public to avoid storage, sale and use of banned polythene materials and helping the authorities in nab- bing the culprits by sharing information at J&K SPCB website: www.jkspcb.nic.in.or by calling on 0191-2476925, 26, 27. Pertinently, the use of poly- thene carry bags, packaging material and other allied prod- ucts having thickness less than 50 microns has been banned by the state government. SPCB carries out anti-polythene drive STATE TIMES NEWS JAMMU: The Directorate of Samagra Shiksha, Jammu & Kashmir organised a one- week training programme for teachers of High and High Secondary schools of Jammu province on 'Adolescent Issues'. The pro- gramme was conducted at the University of Jammu from 25th to 30th March, 2019. The entire training programme was co-ordinated by Dr Sarika Manhas (Associate Professor) PG Department of Home Science (Human Development), University of Jammu. Dr Arun Manhas, Director Samagra Shiksha addressed school teachers emphasising that adolescent years are most crucial for an individual's devel- opment and well-being. Adolescents are highly vulnerable on account of the varied physiologi- cal and psychological changes taking place in them, he added. He mentioned that the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Govt. of India has taken an initia- tive to reach out to every adolescent girl for bringing about some sustainable changes in their lives. In this context, the training has been organised, for creating a pool of 'Master trainers' who will be equipped to successfully manage the issues the adolescents of their schools, he added. Manhas further said that the training is an initial step toward developing a trained resource group and will be followed with more interaction and training programmes. Dr Sarika Manhas (Programme Incharge), while presenting a brief overview of the training pro- gramme, mentioned that 150 teachers belong- ing all 10 districts including Jammu, Reasi, Doda, Ramban, Poonch, Samba, Udhampur, Kathua, Kishtwar were trained to become Master Trainers. The themes covered in the training programme included Health & Nutrition during adolescence, Positive Youth Development, menstrual hygiene management & sexually transmitted diseases, child/sexual abuse, drug and substance abuse, human traf- ficking, gender discrimination and counseling needs of adolescents. STATE TIMES NEWS JAMMU: Congress, People's Democratic Party (PDP) and National Conference (NC), all have ganged-up against BJP only to defeat honest, dedicated, commit- ted and a statesman leader, Narendra Modi. These polit- ical outfits have lost their own credibility and were now trying to put-up a joint front against BJP only to keep secular forces away. This was stated by State Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) General Secretary, Yudhvir Sethi on Saturday during a meeting of party workers, Corporators and supporters of Jammu East and Jammu west Assembly constituen- cies held here. Ex-MLA Rajesh Gupta, State Treasurer Parbhat Singh, Pardhuman Singh, District President Ajodhya Gupta and members of Elections Management teams were also present in the meeting. Yudhvir Sethi further said that having failed to come- up to expectations of people, these political parties have started praising Pakistan and even raising slogans in favour of anti-national forces. He urged people not to give any chance to such pro-Pak forces, who are out to loot exchequer and jeop- ardise country's interest. The BJP General Secretary asked party work- ers to gear up and intensify campaign for exposing polit- ical outfits like NC and PDP, who are working against the interest of nation. STATE TIMES NEWS JAMMU: On third day of ongoing 10th Natrang Theatre Festival in connec- tion with celebrations of Natrang's 35 glorious years, 'Daftar Mei Ek Din', a play in Hindi was presented on Saturday at Natrang Studio Theatre here in Kachi Chawni, Jammu. The play was written by Pratap Sehgal and directed by Neeraj Kant. Natrang has been organis- ing theatre festival of four plays every month since last eleven months in commemo- ration with celebrations of 35 eventful years of Natrang. In his welcome address, Natrang Director, Balwant Thakur informed that Natrang has already created a record in the country by showcasing 40 different plays in a period of eleven months. He complimented all actors, directors and techni- cians associated with holding of theatre festivals. Tessy Thomas, the Director General of Aeronautical Systems and former Project Director for Agni-missile programme in Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), is the first woman-scientist to head a missile project in India. She is known as the 'Missile Woman' of India. She joined DRDO in 1988 and was placed in the Department of design and development of new generation ballistic missile Agni. For Agni pro- gramme, she was appointed by Dr APJ Abdul Kalam. Tessy was associate proj- ect director of 3,000 Km range Agni-III project. She was the Project Director for mission Agni IV, which was successfully tested in 2011. Tessy was appointed as the Project Director for 5,000 Km range Agni-V in 2009. The missile was successfully tested on 19 April, 2012. She was appointed as Director-General, Aeronautical Systems of DRDO in 2018. Thomas has also received Lal Bahadur Shastri National award for her contributions in making India self-reliant in the field of missile tech- nology. FSA declares two brands of packaged drinking water unsafe STATE TIMES NEWS JAMMU: The Food Safety Authorities of J&K has declared the two packaged drinking water brands being sold in the market under the brand names "Aqua Nice" and "McDowell's No. 1 Platinum" as unsafe for human consumption and urged all the stakeholders to stop sale and supply of such articles immediately and recalling the additional stock from the market. In a communication, the Commissioner, Food Safety J&K, Dr. Abdul Kabir has informed that the samples of these articles were lifted and found unsafe and misbranded by Public Health Laboratory, Jammu. He has further called upon the stakeholders who are in possession of any stock of said food product (s) to inform the local empowered authorities (Designated Officer Food Safety) about the stock position of above products and recalling the same from the market. STATE TIMES NEWS JAMMU: An awareness programme on the use of Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) machines under Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) was conducted at the Directorate of Agriculture, Krishi Bhawan, Talab Tillo here on Saturday. P.S Rathore, Director Agriculture Jammu launched the Voters Awareness Forum (VAF) in presence of Nodal Officer SVEEP Devinder Singh Manhas and other senior officers of the Department on the occa- sion. Nodal Officer SVEEP said that the aim of launching Voters Awareness Forums is to create awareness of the electoral process and its importance for strengthen- ing democracy. It was said that VAFs will help in increasing the voter turnout besides encouraging ethical voting among the voters. Various activities were carried out during the programme including a hands-on train- ing of EVM and VVPAT by the SVEEP team. The drive was conductedunder the direct supervision ofMember- Secretary J&KSPCB, B.M Sharma andRegional Director Jammu,Shally Ranjan on the directionsof Chairman SPCB, RaviKesar.

Regional Director SPCBdirected the anti-polythenesquad to intensify the raids in

the Jammu city, outskirts andindustrial areas as well to curbthe menace of banned stuff ofpolythene bags.

STATE TIMES NEWSJAMMU: The Directorate of SamagraShiksha, Jammu & Kashmir organised a one-week training programme for teachers of Highand High Secondary schools of Jammuprovince on 'Adolescent Issues'. The pro-gramme was conducted at the University ofJammu from 25th to 30th March, 2019. Theentire training programme was co-ordinatedby Dr Sarika Manhas (Associate Professor)PG Department of Home Science (HumanDevelopment), University of Jammu. Dr ArunManhas, Director Samagra Shiksha addressedschool teachers emphasising that adolescentyears are most crucial for an individual's devel-opment and well-being. Adolescents are highlyvulnerable on account of the varied physiologi-cal and psychological changes taking place inthem, he added. He mentioned that theMinistry of Human Resource Development(MHRD), Govt. of India has taken an initia-tive to reach out to every adolescent girl forbringing about some sustainable changes intheir lives. In this context, the training hasbeen organised, for creating a pool of 'Mastertrainers' who will be equipped to successfullymanage the issues the adolescents of theirschools, he added.

Manhas further said that the training is aninitial step toward developing a trained

resource group and will be followed with moreinteraction and training programmes. DrSarika Manhas (Programme Incharge), whilepresenting a brief overview of the training pro-gramme, mentioned that 150 teachers belong-ing all 10 districts including Jammu, Reasi,Doda, Ramban, Poonch, Samba, Udhampur,Kathua, Kishtwar were trained to becomeMaster Trainers. The themes covered in thetraining programme included Health &Nutrition during adolescence, Positive YouthDevelopment, menstrual hygiene management& sexually transmitted diseases, child/sexualabuse, drug and substance abuse, human traf-ficking, gender discrimination and counselingneeds of adolescents. In a communication, theCommissioner, Food SafetyJ&K, Dr. Abdul Kabir hasinformed that the samples ofthese articles were lifted andfound unsafe and misbrandedby Public Health Laboratory,Jammu.
