The drive was conductedunder the direct supervision ofMember- Secretary J&KSPCB, B.M Sharma andRegional Director Jammu,Shally Ranjan on the directionsof Chairman SPCB, RaviKesar.

Regional Director SPCBdirected the anti-polythenesquad to intensify the raids in

the Jammu city, outskirts andindustrial areas as well to curbthe menace of banned stuff ofpolythene bags.

STATE TIMES NEWSJAMMU: The Directorate of SamagraShiksha, Jammu & Kashmir organised a one-week training programme for teachers of Highand High Secondary schools of Jammuprovince on 'Adolescent Issues'. The pro-gramme was conducted at the University ofJammu from 25th to 30th March, 2019. Theentire training programme was co-ordinatedby Dr Sarika Manhas (Associate Professor)PG Department of Home Science (HumanDevelopment), University of Jammu. Dr ArunManhas, Director Samagra Shiksha addressedschool teachers emphasising that adolescentyears are most crucial for an individual's devel-opment and well-being. Adolescents are highlyvulnerable on account of the varied physiologi-cal and psychological changes taking place inthem, he added. He mentioned that theMinistry of Human Resource Development(MHRD), Govt. of India has taken an initia-tive to reach out to every adolescent girl forbringing about some sustainable changes intheir lives. In this context, the training hasbeen organised, for creating a pool of 'Mastertrainers' who will be equipped to successfullymanage the issues the adolescents of theirschools, he added.

resource group and will be followed with moreinteraction and training programmes. DrSarika Manhas (Programme Incharge), whilepresenting a brief overview of the training pro-gramme, mentioned that 150 teachers belong-ing all 10 districts including Jammu, Reasi,Doda, Ramban, Poonch, Samba, Udhampur,Kathua, Kishtwar were trained to becomeMaster Trainers. The themes covered in thetraining programme included Health &Nutrition during adolescence, Positive YouthDevelopment, menstrual hygiene management& sexually transmitted diseases, child/sexualabuse, drug and substance abuse, human traf-ficking, gender discrimination and counselingneeds of adolescents.
