INtools is also known as "Smart Plant Instrumentation". It is a software

developed by "Intergraph" USA.

Intergraph® is the leading global provider of engineering and geospatial software that enables customers to visualize complex data.

Basically Intergraph, USA developed "smart plant Electrical, Smart Plant Instrumentation, Smart Plant P&ID etc which are required for Engineering

Project database.

Now, coming to SPI or INtools - It is a software which is very wonderful &

similar to Elecdes. However, INtools is more powerful in terms of bulk editing / export - import functionality with Excel, bulk generation of loop

diagrams, auto generation of wiring diagrams - JB wise, Marshalling Wise

etc.


What is SmartPlant?

SmartPlant Instrumentation was formerly known as INtools.

• SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI) is part of the schematics package of Intergraph, for plant engineering this is the leading database package for

storing a comprehensive set of Instrument & Control System data.

• Smart Plant Instrumentation (INtools) is useful for Design and detailed

engineering and executing engineering projects in Oil&Gas, Power and

Other sectors based on Instrumentation, Electrical, Mechanical and Piping using Intergraph Smart plant software like INtools (SPI), PDS & SP3D and

SPEL.


What is SmartPlant electrical?

An easy and flexible tool for electrical engineers to design and maintain

electrical power distribution networks.

We can create and maintain the instrument index either using imports / updates via SQL or manually entering data in SmartPlant Instrumentation (INtools). where you can create the complete instrumentation index -equipment wise, area wise, sub equipment wise, signal type, etc.

Datasheets Module:

Importing bulk data into datasheets or manually entering data using the

SmartPlant Instrumentation (INtools) forms. By using this module, you can create datasheets for all instruments. (See slide 14)

Process Data & Spec BinderProcess Data & Spec Binder

Process Data:Importing process data from various data sources, or exporting data in different formats for calculation tools.

Spec Binder:

Coupling of datasheets to corresponding spec binders, using binders to

revision control report the data.

• Documents can be Grouped according to a common property.

• Create a New Technical Specification.

Wiring ModulesWiring Modules

Wiring Modules : Using this module, you can create JBs, PLC panels,

DCS panel wiring etc. For this, first we need to have all the individual vendors software (INtools connectivity software) loaded into user INtools

database.

We can create default panels, junction boxes, cables and cable schedules up till cable routing & cable routings. (See slide 17 & 18)


• Default Panel (DCS/ PLC/ JB --) & Cables.

• DCS Management (I/O assignment).

• Multipair cable wiring, Automatic Cross Wiring.

• Tracing Signals, Connection Report.

• Real-time Tag number signal propagation.

Calculation Module:Importing process data from various data sources, or exporting data in different formats for calculation tools. (See slide20 &21)

The Calculation module includes Four sub-modules:

Loop diagram Modules:

You can generate loop drawings using this module. Once the wiring is

complete, you can auto generate loops. Even wiring can be done automatically. (See slide 23 & 24)
