There are some best practices to keep in mind when using a SMART board.
Do not do “blind” internet searches on the board—meaning check all searches
before showing results and search to students.
Keep your computer backgrounds professional since students will be seeing it.
Do not open Skyward while the SMART board is on.
Do not unplug the board unless a tech tells you to.
Do not write on the SMART board with any marker, including dry erase
Do not use magnets on the board while it’s on—it confuses the board.
Turn off email alerts in Outlook. (See notes below)
Use SMART exchange - “don’t reinvent the wheel”
Always feel free to ask a tech for help.
Turning off Email alerts in Outlook
An email alert is that little pop up window when you get a new email.
If you are a SMART board user you should not have those turned on as sensitive emails and
information could pop up during your lessons.
Right click on the outlook icon in your task manager
(lower right corner of tool bar)
Uncheck “show new mail desktop alert”
This will hide those alerts now.
