CONTEXTUALIZAO CONTEXTUALIZATION
Entre 1908 e 1970, Mllerpier abrigoua empresa porturia H. Mller & Co Stevedoring.Aps a suspenso de suas atividades, a reaserviu como local para feiras, parque de diverses,entre outros usos. Entretanto, desde o final dosanos setenta, j havia planos para torn-la umarea residencial.
Em 1979, o arquiteto Ingls James Stirling propsum plano geral para a rea, no executado. Nadcada de 90 o planejamento de Mullerpier foiretomado. O plano eleito foi o dos arquitetos KeesChristiaanse e Ruurd Gietema, com 575 casas,centros de vida assistida, um berrio, umrestaurante e lojas.
Between 1908 and 1970, the companyH. Mller &Stevedoring Co was installed in mullepier. After the
suspension of its activities, the area served for local tradefairs, antique markets and amusement park,
among other uses. However, since the late seventies, there wereplans to make it a residential area. In 1979 the English architectJames Stirling proposed a masterplan for the area, that was not
executed. In the 90 planning Mullerpier was resumed. The chosenplan was the one by architects Kees Christiaanse and
Ruurd Gietema, with 575 apartments, assisted-livingcenters, a nursery, a restaurant and stores.

MOBILIDADE MOBILITY
A rea pblica composta por uma superfcie contnua em torno dosespaos verdes, parques infantis e campos desportivos.Vista de perto, a rea d a impresso de ser um labirinto urbanocomposto por espaos ntimos em contraste com a ampla viso dagua.
O movimento de carros se d ao longo da borda, mas um amploespao tambm reservado para os caminhantes.
Os blocos geralmente seguem os alinhamentos do terreno, trsquadras so girados e focada em elementos-chave do ambienteurbano.
The blocks generally follow the alignments of the ground, three of the blocks are turnedand focused on key elements of the urban environment.
The public area consists on a continuous surface around green spaces, playground and sportsfields. A closer view seems to be an urban maze formed by intimate spaces in contrast to thebroad vision of the water.
The car traffic occurs along the edges, but a wide space is also reserved for walkers.

The blocks were designed to allow maximum activity on the groundfloor
The depth of the buildings creates specific typology,often with semi-public indoor spaces.
The public space is constituted by a continuous layer of cobbles,which differs only in the quay area.
Landscaped areas, playgrounds and sports are arranged on thesurface.

Os edificios foram estrategicamente posicionadosde forma a permitir que todos tenham livre visodas bordas dgua e sejam protegidos do vento.
Arelao dos habitantes com a gua se d deforma indireta, no sentido em que h apreocupao de permitir a contemplao da linhadgua, e a utilizao desta para o transporte (taxi
aqutico), e tambm de forma direta, paraatividades de lazer.
The buildings were strategically positioned to allow a free view ofwater and to be protected from the wind.
The relationship between the inhabitants and water is an indirectone, in the sense that there is a concern to allow the
contemplation of the waterline, and the use as transportation(water taxi), and also a direct one, for leizure activities.

Lloydpier was in the past
century, the bustling hub of maritimeactivities. The functions of the harbor overthe years have givenrise to a new interpretation ofthe dynamic life, work andleizure. The former docks nowhouse several companies, whose focalpoint is the former powerstation, Schiecentrale. Recently, a plan wasdeveloped for the installation of dwellings inthe area.

MOBILIDADEMOBILITYAs vias de maior fluxo foram dispostas preferencialmente nasbordas e no centro da ilha, contemplando tambm espao para acirculao de pedestres.
As vias secundrias passam entre os prdios de maneiraperpendicular, permitindo uma conexo direta entre as bordas(transversalidade).
A intermodalidade bastante intensa em Lloydpier. Pode-se teracesso ilha travs de carro, trem, bicicleta, txi aqutico, almdos passeios.
The increaesd flow routes are arranged prefencially at the center andedges of the island, including also space for pedestrian circulation.
The secondary roadsa re perpendicularly among the buildings,allowing a direct connection between the edges (transversality).
Intermodality is very intense in Lloydpier. One can access the island throughmany ways, such as: car, train, bike, water taxi, besides on foot.

O plano de Lloydpier prev a construo de 700habitaes, com tipologias variadas.
Ele combina uma nova rea residencial, dearquitetura inspirada na tradio construtiva,com edifcios renovados do antigo porto.
A localizao central da ilha favorece odesenvolvimento de atividades diversas:teatro, restaurantes, cafs, hotis, campos deesportes, escola primria, e muitas outrascomodidades a curta distncia.
Lloydpiers masterplan envisages the construction of 700 dwellings,
with varied tipology
It combines a new residential area of architecture inspired bythe Constructivist tradition, with refurbished buildings of the old port.
The island's central location favors the development of variousactivities, such as, theater,restaurants, cafes, hotels, sportsfields, school, and many other activities.

Diferentemente do projeto do Mullerpier, os espaospblicos em Lloydpier esto dispostospreferencialmente no centro da ilha, margeada poredificaes. Porm apresentam aberturas quepermitem o livre acesso s bordas dagua.
H tambm considervel passeio ao longo do cais.
Unlike Mullerpiers design, public spaces are designed in Lloydpier
preferably in the center of the island, bordered by buildings. Theyalso have openings to allow free access to the waterfronts.
There is also considerable walking path along the pier.

Em Lloydpier h uma estao permanente detxi aqutico, o que sugere que haja aincorporao do rio vivncia da comunidade.
A distribuio espacial dos espacial dosedificios e o diferente gabarito garante que
todos tenham uma vista privilegiada para todosos lados.
In Lloydpier there is a permanent water taxi station, which suggests theincorporation of the river into the community experience.
The spatial distribution of buildings and their different template ensures thateveryone has a privileged view of all sides.
