Skeletank®
DesignThe Skeletank® 1500 rainwater storage unit has beendeveloped to provide a simple and cost-effectivemethod of collecting, storing and managing the runoffof rainwater from the roofs and hardstandings ofdomestic properties.
Skeletank® 1500 units are extremely robust, utilising proprietary BBA certificated storage modules which are suitable for trafficked loadings when placed with the required depth of cover above. Modules are factory pre-assembled and then encapsulated within a welded 1mm PP membrane and geotextile protection fleece. This process ensures that each unit is guaranteed to befully watertight. Inlet/outlet stubs are pre-fitted, including high-level connections to provide venting if required. Straps are also provided with each unit to ensure safe and efficient handling.
Skeletank® 1500 storage units are manufactured in the United Kingdom.
Storage CapabilityEach Skeletank® storage unit has a storage capacity of 1500 litres. Storage volumes can be increased by linking together multiple units using standard 110mm diameter PVC-u drainage pipework and fittings. This offers designers significant flexibility and thus the opportunity to provide bespoke designs for individual properties.
Standard ConnectivityEach Skeletank® 1500 storage unit has 6no. 110mm diameter Spigots; four at invert level and two at soffit level (for venting purposes). These spigots are sized to fit standard 110mm diameter PVC-u underground drainage pipe and fittings. Units are supplied with 3no. blanking caps.
FlexibilitySkeletank® 1500 storage units are suitable for both trafficked and landscaped areas. In domestic driveways, cover is set at 500mm (less for landscaped areas), allowing the units to be combined with Skeletank Controflow Mini-Flow Control Chambers (SELH03001) to provide shallow, on-plot source control SuDS. This in turn can dramatically reduce the size and scope of surface water drainage networks downstream.

Skeletank® Installation Guidelines
Setting OutSet out the position of the RWP Filter Chambers (SELH03002), Catchpit Chamber with Silt Capacity (SELH03006), Controflow Mini-Flow Control Chamber (SELH03001/SELH03007) and Skeletank® 1500 storage unit(s) in accordance with the Contract Drawings.
Preparation & Installation of the Skeletanks®
1. Excavate to formation level allowing for a minimum of 100mm for the granular bedding material.
2. Place the bedding material ensuring that it is perfectly level in all directions. It is recommended that screed rails be used for this purpose.
3. Once the bedding material is levelled avoid walking over it.
4. Place a Skeletank® 1500 at the required location.
5. Using a spirit level check that the Skeletank® 1500 is level.
6. Connect all inlet and outlet pipework using standard underground pipes and fittings.
7. The top spigot connections of the Skeletank® 1500 unit can also be used for ventilation if required.
8. Backfill in accordance with the standard detail drawing or specific contract requirements, taking care not to damage the tank.
Preparation and Installation of the Chambers
1. Set out the location of the chambers
• Rainwater Filter Chamber (SELH03002)
• Skeletank® Controflow Mini-Flow Control Chamber (SELH03001/SELH03007)
• Skeletank® Catchpit Chamber (SELH03006)
2. Excavate to the required depth, set the chambers on a bed of concrete in accordance with the standard detail drawing. Flow control and catchpit chambers are supplied with a secondary cover; this cover must be left in place during construction to prevent any debris i.e. stone, mortar, bricks etc. falling into the chamber. It is recommended that this cover be left in place when the brickwork and final choice of cover & frame has been fixed. Before completion ensure that the secondary cover is not trapped by mortar and can easily be removed.
3. If it is necessary to reduce the height of the chamber, remove the secondary cover, cut the chamber to the required height and replace the secondary cover before installation.
4. Connect the pipe work using standard underground pipes and fittings.
5. Backfill in accordance with the standard detail drawing or specific Contract requirements.
