Camellia Chapter No. 63 A New Year is upon us already – Happy 2017 to you all! Practice on November 30 went well. Thank you to everyone who came to the practice,

and to those who helped set up and take down the room! At our meeting on December 7, people brought quite a bit of food to donate to Food for People. We also started a “thank you” gift that we plan to continue through the year (or two). We are very grateful to those who come to meet-ings, both from our own Chapter and those who come to helpfillinstations.Ourfirst“thankyou”giftswenttoNan-cy Bay who was Conductress for the evening and to Deb-orah Fogle, our Warder. After the meeting, we had some refreshments and a gift exchange. There was a sign-up sheet for people to volunteer to bring goodies to future meetings. If you were not at the De-cember meeting, or if you did not yet sign up because you were checking your calendar or something, there are still dates open, and you are welcome to sign up for a month (or two) to bring refreshments. Thank you! And a very big Thank You to those who have already chosen their month(s) to bring food. This year we will participate in the Books for Bikes pro-gram,andAliciaGarrisonhasagreed tohelpfindus twobikes to give to the children at a grade school yet to be named. Brethren, We are about to change our meeting night again. Please attend our January 18, 2017 stated meeting and make your questions known. There are several reasons for considering the change. The third Wednesday meeting date has caused some unforeseen problems. It has made paying our bills verydifficultbecausemostbillsareduebeforeourstatedmeeting.IthasalsomadeitdifficulttoposteventsintheTrestleboard. Because of lag time in sending in the articles, printingandmaildelays, itmakesschedulingverydifficult. A resolution was passed by vote of the Lodge at the November stated meeting to change our stated meetings tothefirstWednesdayofthemonth.Thiswillbevotedonat our January stated meeting. Eel River Empire Lodge installation will be held on Jan-uary 18, 2017 at 7PM in Fortuna Masonic Hall. Bring your best friend and a big bib. We will be having our Annual Crab Feed on January 21, 2017 at 5 PM. We hope to see a good turnout.

Eureka Court No. 109Order of the Amaranth

Honored Ladies and Sir Knights. We hope that your Christmas Holidays, or your Ha-nukah if you prefer, were everything you hoped they would be. The weather is still very wintery and Spring is a while away. But we will all look to the Future and hope that Spring will be right around the corner. Our January Meeting: January 25th. Theme: Joys oftheNewYear.ThiswillbeAdvanceNight.Alloffi-cerspleasebepreparedtostepintotheofficeyouwillbe holding next Year. February Meeting: This a reminder to all commit-tees that reports are due in February. Light refresh-ments will be available after the meeting. We continue to see major hi-way construction due to slides and other natural occurrences. Perhaps by May or June we can again travel without worrying about rocks and dirt falling on our heads. For those who may be interested, the decision in Weaverville is to change the four-way stop on the East side of town to a four-way light. The powers that be think that will be better for the highway than a round-about or four way stop sign. So, in the following months there will be a little more road construction in town. But this too shall pass and all will be okay. A discussion was held prior to the December meeting about the good and bad of moving our meet-ing place back to Eureka. Perhaps we will have some information on that next month. In the meantime, let’s all work toward building our Court and all getting involved in the business at hand. We have a wonderful group of people who are mem-bers, and we all need to work together for the success of our Order. Plan to attend one or two of our meetings and en-joy the friendships, fellowships, and joy of your fellow members. We miss you all and hope to see you soon.

Love to all the Ladies and Gentlemen of our Court,JoAnna and Bill

Ferndale Chapter No. 23

Old man winter has certainly arrived in style with lots of rain and bone chilling

temperatures. Randy and I would like to thank He-lene and Larry Nicholson and our Chapter for taking over the helm at our December meeting so that we could attend our granddaughters Christmas program. With many members out sick we had a skeleton crew even with help from our neighbors. We brought toys for the Community Chest and had a cookie exchange with the left overs going home with Helene and Nancy to make plates for some of our shut ins. I did make it to the meeting in time to install our Martha Donna Meng and take care of the business at hand. Also we would like to thank those who were able to help out at the Fortuna Ice Rink . It was a great fund raiser for the Chapter. Our next meeting will be a Happy New Year theme and we will be honoring our star point Ruth all the Ruth’s are invited. Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year with family and friends. Until next time ,Patti Cady WM and Randy Cady WP

Hello Friends and Family! The holidays have come and gone, and we hope you enjoyed the season and were able to celebrate with friends and family. This month we will be serving for the Scottish Rite Installation . Our January meet-ing theme is Thursday Night Lights, for football sea-son, so wear your favorite teams jersey, we hope to see you there!

Bethel No. 86,Job’s Daughters

Happy New Year, and best wishes for 2017! In November, we continued to participate in Eastern Star installations in Ferndale where wepresentedtheflagforPattiandRandyCady, and in Fortuna where we brought into the Chap-terRoomfigurinesofthefiveStarPointheroinesand placed them on the pedestals behind the Star Point chairs for Bridie Hansen and Jim Widdoes. On December 11, we presented the flag forthe Six Rivers Lodge installation where our Past Associate Bethel Guardian Steve Jacobs was in-stalled as Worshipful Master. At our meeting on November 21, the Daugh-ters asked adults to stand in at their stations to do their charges – from memory! We had fun with Mrs. Sally Hansen doing the Honored Queen’s charge, Mr. Gary Quintrell as Sr. Princess, Ms. Sherri McKenna as Jr. Princess, Mrs. Heidi Quin-trell as Guide, and Mrs. Bridie Hansen as Marshal. At our meeting on December 5, Mrs. Heidi Quintrell tearfully gave her last remarks as Bethel Guardian as she is stepping down after six years as our fearless leader. Installation of new council members was held at our regular meeting on De-cember 19. We want to thank everyone who has supported our lasagna sales this year. We made lasagnas and delivered them the weekend of December 17-18. Then we have a break for the holidays before meeting again on January 2 for our last meeting of this term. We plan our Bethel installation for January 8, with details yet to come. Thank you, one and all, for your support of our Bethel! Happiest of New Year wishes to you all – Bethel No. 86 Arcata, JDI

Aahmes RedwoodShrine Club

Talk about a clowning achievement. Redwood Shrine Club’s “Joker Clowns” nearly outdid themselves in 2016. There was hardly any community activity or event that wasn’t attended by the 10 mem-ber clown unit. They participated in 8 parades; 3 kids I.D. programs; 4 elementary school carnivals; 4 screen-ing clinics; 6 shrine dinners; and 11 monthly meetings donating a total of 884 hours — not including travel involving 2 trips to Santa Rosa; 3 to Ukiah; 2 to Fort Bragg; 2 to Ferndale; 2 to Rio Dell; 1 to Scotia; 1 to Car-son City, Nevada; 11 to Eureka; 19 to Fortuna; and, 1 each to McKinleyville and Blue Lake. All this of course is just a beginning to set the stage for 2017. So, come out and join us for what will be a great time for all, es-pecially the kids. Jim Widdoes, Head Clown
