Tax Exemption under Section 80G of IT Act

Construction of 240 bath room cum toilets in STS villages by Lions Clubs International and Lions Clubs District 324A8

Single Teacher Schools is constructing bathroom cum toilets in villages under Prime Minister’s “Swach Bharath Abhiyan” where its centers were functioning. As of now, 250+ bathroom cum toilets are already constructed.

As a continuation of the project, it is planned to construct additional 240 bath room cum toilets in 24 villages at a cost of Rs.86 Lakhs, with the support from Lions Clubs. Rs.65 lakhs towards this project was donated by Lions Clubs International, balance amount Rs.21 lakhs will be shared by Lions Club of

West Mambalam, Lions Club of Avarampu, Lions Club of Madras Sterling Avenue and Lions Club of Madras Prince.

On May 24th, in Maduramangalam village of Kancheepuram district, Bhoomi Puja was performed. Sri.S.Vedanthamji, President of Swami Vivekananda Rural Development Society,

Sri.K.N.Krishnamurthy, President of STS, Sri.R.P.Krishnammachari Honorary Secretary of STS, Sri.G.Krishnaswamy, Advisory Board Member of STS participated and honored the occasion. On behalf of Lions Club, present Governor of Lions Club 324A8 Lion Sri.K.Prithivi Kumar, Upcoming Governor Lion Sri.Ramamurthy and other Lions Club members participated.

After the Bhumi Pooja, the chief guests visited the place of construction and interacted with the beneficiaries.

PMJF Lion Dr.Naresh Agarwal, Governor of International Lions Club, inaugurated the building on 2-June-2018 in a function held at Vadathur village.

In continuance of the function, a meeting was held on the same day evening in Hotel Le Royal Meridian, Chennai. Dr.Naresh Agarwal, president of International Lions Club appreciated the Educational and Healthcare services done by Single Teacher Schools during the meeting. Dr.Naresh Agarwal honored Sri.R.P.Krishnammachari by Commemorative Medal on the occasion.

Dr. K.S.BABAI , Secretary , Meenakshi Sundarrajan College of Engineering , Chennai & District Governor 324A1 Lions Clubs International , initiated the project of “Constructing classrooms with toilet facilities in 14 villages”.

As a part of it, Lions Club of Ponmanam, has contributed to construct a school building in Vadathur village, Thiruvallur district, at a cost of Rs.5.5 lakhs.

During the occassion Sri.R.P.Krishnammachari dontated $1Lakh (Rs.67 Lakhs) to International Lions Club. The fund will be utilized for the rehabilitation services of future occurrences of natural calamities.

Sri.B.R.Haran, very dynamic activist of Single Teacher Schools since its inception, expired on 4th July 2018 Wednesday night due to cardiac arrest.

Sri.B.R.Haran was a senior journalist had been writing to various Tamil and English magazines and online web portals. His writings covering varied topics on the society were authentic with fact and evidences. He was very compassionate towards animals. He also contributed towards rehabilitation of temple elephants and protection of cows from slaughter houses.

Apart from a journalist profession, he was a great orator with good eloquent skills. With a view to spread Bharaathiyar’s patriotic message, he played the role for

the characters – Subramaniya Shiva and Mandayam Srinivachar.

Sri. B.R. Haran worked as Honorary Secretary of Single Teacher Schools. He had taken keen interest in development of the schools and also upgrading the teaching skills of the Acharyas.

Sri. B.R. Haran was also responsible for the Social Audit of the schools as a 3rd Party. He had interacted with all the 650 Acharyas frequently and exchanged various ideas on teaching.

Students and Teachers at all STS centres paid their homage to Sri.B.R.Haran on 5-July-2018, at the beginning of their classes.

Dr. K.S.BABAI , Secretary , Meenakshi Sundararajan College of Engineering , Chennai & District Governor 324A1 Lions Clubs International has arranged financial aid to construct 14 Single Teacher schools buildings.

Dr. K.S.Babai has collected Rs.24 lakhs from various donors. School Buildings with toilet facility will be constructed with this fund in 8 villages of Tiruvallur District.

Dr.K.S.Babai handed over the cheques to Single Teacher School officials at her college campus. Following this, on 16th July 2018, Bhoomi Puja for the construction of School building with toilet facility was performed in Velliyur and Guruvayal villages of Tiruvallur Sanch and Odhappai and Velagapuram villages of Poondi sanch.

International Lions Club - District 324A1 contributed for building Single Teacher Schools

Single Teacher Schools, a part of Swami Vivekananda Rural Development Society, conducted Annual Training Camp for Teachers working in Single Teacher Schools, on May 12th and 13th. The camp was held at the Training Centre of SVRDS at Ulundai Village of Tiruvallur district.

Sri.Isaikkavi Ramanan, a versatile and multi-dimensional personality, participated in the camp and during his keynote address, appreciated the services of STS teachers and called every STS teacher is a living Educational Institution.

During his speech he mentioned that – “Every one of us has a social responsibility. As teachers you have a greater role to social upliftment. Every teacher should follow his/her conscience. Teachers have to attend each and every child individually and improve his/her intimacy with them. Every child is to be nurtured with the National sprit and pride in our age old culture and traditions. Teachers should mix with children honestly without concealing anything. Through children, their parents also need to be educated. The place where you live is the school. Every one of you is a school”. He explained the duties of parents and responsibilities of teachers elaborately.

Earlier in the keynote address, Sri.Vedanthamji, delivered his presidential address. Sri.Vedantamji mentioned that – “the specialty of STS is to teach our age old culture along with academic education. The essence of our culture is told in a single line: “Dharamam Chara, Sathyam Vada”. That is we have to lead the path of dharma

and talk truth. You should follow these principles in your life and also insist your students to follow these virtues in their life.”

Honorary Secretary of STS Sri.R.P.Krishnamachari, while delivering his inaugural speech, introduced Sri.Isaikkavi Ramanan, and also appreciated the services of Sri.Vedanthamji.

Sri.Gopalan, treasurer of STS, STS Advisory board members Sri.G.Krishna Swamy, Sri.Deccan Murthy also participated.

After his lecture, Sri.Isaikkavi Ramanan handled the interactive session by replying to questions asked by the teachers. As requested by the teachers, he sung few Bharathiyar’s songs. Sri.Ramanan also distributed the small booklet on Bharathiyar’s songs published by archeologist Padama Bushan Dr.R.Nagasami to all STS teachers.

After lunch break, Smt.Padampriya Venkatadhri guided the STS teachers using presentations and lecture. Following that, Sri.Jagadisn Nagappattinam district coordinator of STS and Smt.Vasantha Jagadisan held cultural training sessions to STS teachers.

On the second day of the camp, teachers from Jai Gopal Garodia Hindu Vidyalaya Matriculation Higher Secondary School of West Mambalam and GK Shetty Hindu Vidyalaya Matriculation Higher Secondary School of Adambakkam trained STS teachers with various teaching methodologies.

STS office staff Sri.Vijayaragavan, Sri.Jagadesan, Smt.Vasantha Jagadesan, Sri.Rajkumar, Sri.Senthil, Smt.Subashree, Smt.Sujatha and Smt.Vasumathi have made necessary arrangements for the camp. More than 200 teachers and field supervisors participated in the camp.

Annual training camp for teachers working in Single Teacher Schools was conducted on May 19th and 20th at Swami Vivekananda Rural Development Society Training Centre at Ulundai village, Tiruvallur district.

Editor of “Amudasurabhi” monthly magazine, Sri.Tiruppur Krishnan was the chief guest and delivered key note address for the teachers. Sri.Tiruppur Krishnan during his speech told “Teacher-Student relationship is more important than relationships like father, mother, son or daughter. The role of teachers in nurturing students as good citizens is vital. Teaching profession is divine. Every teacher should treat his/her students as his/her own children and educate them with all means to attain higher status in the society.”

After his speech, Sri.Tiruppur Krishnan answered the questions posed by the teachers.

Earlier to his speech, president of Single Teacher Schools Sri.K.N.Krishnamurthy delivered the

welcome address and introduced Sri.Tiruppur Krishnan to the audience. Member of STS Advisory Board Sri.Thanikachalam explained various service activities of Single Teacher Schools

Following that, CSR coordinator of Kone Elevator India Pvt Ltd Sri.Roofas held an interactive session with the teachers.

After that, “Job Mela” was conducted on behalf of Saint Gobain India Private Ltd. Sri.Sivaprakasam, NNTF explained various job opportunities and related training offered by the company using presentations and lecture.

After lunch break, Smt.Padmapriya and BR Haran from Sharada Infotech discussed about the social audit and its followup.

Later, Nagappattinam district coordinator of Single Teacher Schools Sri.Jagadesan and Smt.Vasantha Jagadesan trained the teachers in Cultural and heritage.


Around 180 teachers participated in the two day camp.

“Encourage the students” – Keezambur Sankara Subramaniyan’s advice to teachers at Annual training camp

Annual training camp of STS teachers third batch, was conducted on May 26th and 27th in Swami Vivkekananda Rural Development Society Training Center at Ulundai village of Tiruvallur district.

Editor of “Kalaimagal” monthly magazine Sri.Keezambur Sankara Subramanian was the chief guest of the occasion and spoke on the topic “Benignant Teachers”. He advised that each student is to be encouraged differently based on their distinct behavioural characteristics. And this will create distinct personalities among the students.

He mentioned that “Dr.APJ Abdul Kalam got inspiration to become a scientist after reading the series of articles on Neil Armstrong first human visited the moon published in Dinamani newspaper. Like this, you need to bring out great personalities from your students after reading and getting inspiration from Abdul Kalam’s book "Ü‚Q„ Cø°èœ" (Wings of Fire).

"Ü‚Q„ Cø°èœ" (Wings of Fire ) book to all teachers

During Annual training camp of STS teachers conducted on 26th May 2018, Honorary Secretary of STS Sri.R.P.Krishnammachari announced that all Single Teacher Schools teachers will be given APJ Abdul Kalam’s "Ü‚Q„ Cø°èœ" (Wings of Fire) book.

As a first phase of this scheme, Sri.R.P.Krishnammachari distributed the book to all field supervisors, during their training session conducted on 4th July 2018,. Sr.B.R.Haran, STS office bearers were also present.

Rs.5 lakhs was donated to Swami Vivekananda Rural Community Development college of Pondicherry. Rs.1 lakh was donated to Single Teacher Schools run by Swami Vivekananda Rural Development Society. Rs.50,000 was donated towards uniform for students studying in Sri Ramakrishna Mission Ashram at T.Nagar, Chennai.

Sri.Chitturi Tirupathi Rao, retired chief executive of All India Radio, has been donating every year Rs.1 lakh to Single Teacher Schools, and he has been supporting for the last 10 years. Sri. Tirupathi Rao who has worked in many parts of India is keenly interested in social activities.

Sri Tirupathi Rao wished to see the activities of Single Teacher Schools visited Training Centre at Ulundai on 27th April 2018.

Later Sri.Tirupathi Rao visited Single Teacher Schools functioning at Guruvoyal village of Tiruvallur district. He met the students, and affectionately offered many sweets he brought to them. After a discussion with Sri.Tirupathi Rao, children performed Prarthanai, Pledge and a social awareness song on Child labour. They also demonstrated the lessons they learnt.

International Hindu Conference was held in Mauritius on 18th and 19th of May. On behalf of Single Teacher Schools, its founder Sri.S.Vedanthamji, Honorary Secretary, Industrialist Sri.R.P.Krishnammachari and Dr.Girija Seshadri, Secretary of Viswa Hindu Vidya Kendra participated in the conference.

Single Teacher Schools and Saint Gobain India Limited together conducted an Eye camp in Podavur Panchayat Union of Sriperumpudur Taluk on 11th June 2018. On behalf of Saint Gobain Sri.R.Ramprabhu, Sri.Saravanakumar, Sri.Uchchimahapi, Ms. Devipriya participated. The camp was conducted in the presence of Smt.Datchayani, Secretary of Podavur Panchayat.

Opthamologists from Sankara Netrayalaya diagnosed the villagers and gave medical advice. 106 villagers were benefited by the eye camp. 22 villagers are adivised for cataract, 10 persons for Fundus treatment and 66 villagers are advised to wear spectacles. 3 persons are given spectacles in the camp itself. Free spectacles will be provided to the rest of the participants shortly.

International Yoga Day at Single Teacher Schools

Yoga is the important aspect of our ancient Vedic civilization. Pioneered by Patanajali in the form of yoga sutras and followed by Patanajali many rishis and seers shaped this art till date. Yoga is one of the greatest contribution of India to the world. By our Prime Minister’s efforts, UN Council has declared 21st June, the longest day as the International Yoga Day. From 2015 onwards, 21st June has been celebrated as the International Yoga Day.

Single Teacher Schools, educating rural children with cultural values, celebrates International Yoga Day every year. This year, students in all Single Teacher Schools centres performed yoga and Surya Namaskar. Students also talked about the importance of yoga on that day. Teachers also explained about cleanliness, hygiene and physical health on this day to the students and their parents. Parents who participated in yoga day celebrations appreciated services rendered by Single Teacher Schools.

Single Teacher Schools and JK Fenner India Limited together conducted a free Eye camp in Kandur Panchayat Union of Sriperumpudur Taluk on 16th May 2018. On behalf of JK Fenner, Sri.K.Kumar (Senior Manager Human Resource), Sri.Saravana Marthandam (SCM) and Sri.M.S.Janardhanan participated in the camp.

Donation to Single Teacher schools ensures 100% Tax Exemption under section 35 AC of the Income Tax Act

Under Prime Minister’s Swach Bharath Abhiyan 17 Bathroom cum Toilets constructed at Ramathandalam Village

Single Teacher Schools is constructing bathroom cum toilets in villages through Prime Minister’s Swach Bharath Abhiyan. Single Teacher Schools has constructed more than 250 such facilities so far in rural villages.

10th, 11th and 12th standard (2017-2018 batch) Higher Secondary students of West Mambalam Jai Gopal Garodia Hindu Vidyalaya Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Adambakkam GK Shetty Hindu Vidyalaya Matriculation Higher Secondary School contributed their savings to construct 12 bathroom cum toilets in the village. Also Masonic Charitable Trust, Chennai has donated to construct 5 bathroom cum toilets.This project of constructing 17 Bathroom cum Toilets costed Rs. 8.7 Lakhs.

In a simple programme organized in Ramathandalam village on 14th June 2018, these 17 toilets were handed over to the beneficiaries. Honorary Secretary of Single Teacher Schools Sri.R.P.Krishnammachari made the welcome address and Single Teacher Schools president Sri.K.N.Krishamurthy explained the various welfare activities of Single Teacher Schools.

Correspondent of Hindu Vidyalaya schools Dr Girija Seshadri, Student representatives, and Captain Dr.Biswa Kumar, Sri.Ganapathy and Sri.Kamakoti from Mesonic Charitable Trust were the chiet guests of the occasion and handed over the toilets to the beneficiaries.

On Saturday 1st April 2018, Sports day was conducted at Veliyur village, Thiruvallur sanch in a grand manner. 398 students and 17 teachers from 17 schools with 2 field supervisors along with Single Teacher Schools office team participated in the sports day. Running, Frog race, Sac Walk, Water filling, Lemon and spoon, Musical chair, cultural program for students, running and musical chair for teachers were conducted.

Winners were awarded with medals and trophies.
