CONSIDER YOUR ELECTRICITY PURCHASE OPTIONS

Instead of buying electricity at the regulated tariff from SP Services (SPS), eligible C&I consumers now have more options to manage their electricity cost.

What are your CHOICES?

From 1 July 2015 onwards, small contestable consumers are allowed to switch back any of their C&I accounts to be non-contestable and buy electricity from SPS at the regulated tariff.

This only applies to a contestable consumer whose aggregate average monthly electricity consumption (AMC) over the past 12 months for all his C&I accounts is less than 4,000 kWh at the point of switching back (refer to Annex 4 to find out how eligibility for reversion is determined).

Check with your retailer whether you need to pay early termination charges before making the decision to switch back.

Find out whether you qualify:• Via MyPower Portal, www.mypower.com.sg• Receive an Official Notification Letter from the Energy Market Authority or SPS that you are eligible• Call SP Services at 1800-233 8000 or email them at [email protected]

Electricity supply to your business will not be affected by the choice you make.

It is EASY to switch

Tell your retailer you want to switch.

Consider grouping together with others to negotiate for a better deal from retailers.

C

Before signing the contract with the retailer:

Compare your current rate with the rates offered by different retailers.

• Discuss with the retailers your electricity needs and ask for a quotation.

• Obtain from the different retailers a comparison of your estimated bill amount against your current rate.

A

Watch out for other contractual terms and conditions.

• Does your new contract say that prices may increase during the contract period or that your contract will be renewed automatically?

• How far in advance will the retailer notify you of any price changes?

• Are there any fixed or pass-through charges? Is a security deposit required?

• Is there a minimum contract period and penalty for ending the contract early?

• Billing Options - How and when you will be billed? What is the billing cycle?

• When and how will you pay? Are there flexible payment options or incentives for early payment or late payment charges? What happens if you have an outstanding debt?

Metering Arrangements for Contestable Consumers

Your existing meter will be replaced with an Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) meter to measure and remotely read your half-hourly consumption.

You will need to pay a monthly

meter charge of $1.83 per

single-phase meter and $2.49 per

3-phase meter. This will be capped

at $12.50 if multiple meters are required at your premises.

AMI

Do Not Contact List

If your company does not wish to be contacted by any retailers, you can opt-out to be contacted at www.mypower.com.sg or inform SPS via their hotline.

Retailers will stop contacting your

company not later than 30 days of your request.

How Electricity is DELIVERED to you

101 ON SINGAPORE’S ELECTRICITY INDUSTRYANNEX 1

Retailers sell electricity to contestable consumers (currently only C&I consumers), while SPS supplies electricity to non-contestable consumers.

Electricity is generated by power plants run by power generation companies (gencos).

SP PowerGrid (the Transmission Company) operates the power grid that delivers electricity islandwide.

Power Grid

How the ELECTRICITY MARKET works

Gencos compete to generate and sell electricity in the WEM every half-hour

Retailers buy electricity in bulk from the WEM to supply to consumers

Consumers buy electricity from retailers and SPS

SPS provides services such as meter reading, meter data management and facilitatecustomer transfers between retailers.

The average monthly consumption (AMC), used to determine eligibility for contestability, is calculated over a preceding continuous period not exceeding 12 months from the date of application. If only less than one month of consumption data is available, the electricity consumption during that month shall be treated as the AMC.
