Hello Chapter Members,

Happy June. Although the weather doesn’t

seem to cooperate, we are enjoying the cool May

we’ve had.

Your newsletter is the very best place to find

information about the chapter: meetings,

programs, teachers, and generally what’s

happening. We thank Dawn Rivard for her

attention to detail in producing this newsletter.

Earlier this year I gave sketchbooks to

everyone. (If you did not receive one, notify me.)

Please bring your

sketchbook to our

June chapter meeting.

By now you should

have a cover page

finished or ready to

design. There will be a

special table to place

them for all to see.

May’s meeting

was a huge success. We all came away with skills,

new friends, new paint brushes, and a greater

appreciation for all the teachers available to us.

Everyone who helped with hospitality is to

be commended. While Patty Clark is our

hospitality chairwoman, she definitely has been

wearing many hats of late (hospitality and

programs) and we appreciate everything she

does.

Pat Getteymeyer and I took care of the

Caring Place this month. We did Shayron

Monahan’s little penguin. The caring place ladies

enjoyed the project.

I can’t wait to hear

news from the SDP’s final

convention. It is sad to see

the end of an era, but

perhaps its time was over.

Looking forward to good

things from National in the

future.

Our June teacher for an adorable pot or

pumpkin is Tami Carmody. Good news—there is

no prep work!

Be sure to sign up

in advance for as many

months as you can. It

helps the teachers plan

if they know how many

students they will have.

Please answer the

call from committee

chairs to join them so

we can keep the

chapter running

smoothly. Mark your calendars. As you know

this chapter runs on volunteers.

June 2019 Newsletter

Pro g r am s

Greetings Chapter Members,

With our cool, wet spring,

hopefully we've all had a chance to

get a little more painting done than

usual. There are lots of projects to

finish up, seminar pieces to finish or

prep, and our own personal projects

to continue working on. Lately I've

been thinking about the fun of

painting the objects we collect. I

know some you like scouring thrift stores, antique shops

or eBay for your favorite things. Why not paint them too?

Raggedy Ann's or other dolls, antique kitchenware,

Americana, flags and other memorabilia would look great

with a painted piece displayed right along with them.

There are a lot of fun projects out there that would look

great for Fourth of July and could be displayed all

summer long.

Our June 8 class with Tami Carmody is coming up

quickly. There is no prep, and the paint is supplied. The

pumpkin vase, $10, and flower pot, $5, are available from

Tami on that day. Tami is asking that we come prepared

with a number 2 and 4 filbert. She will have some

available for purchase also. Glass painting brushes aren't mandatory, but if you have them,

bring them. Brushes of the softer variety, not too stiff, will be helpful.

July sign ups for Kaye Singer's class, “Mrs. Whoo-ligans,” designed by Lisbeth Stull, are

going on now. If you need your Halloween fix, here's your chance; our only Halloween project

this year. Prep sheets will be available at June chapter meeting, don’t forget to pick yours up.

At our August paint-in and business meeting, we are excited to have Mary Kate Erickson teaching us “Oyster Shell Santa,” also

a Lisbeth Stull pattern. The shell and embellishment packages will be available for $10 if you would like to purchase one.

Beginning in June we will also have the chance to sign up for “Merry Maker's Greeting,” a Jo Sonja Jansen design taught by

Mary Robinson in September. I, for one, am very interested to learn more about Jo Sonja’s style from one of our Chapter's long

time favorite teachers.

Remember, chapter meeting classes are $15, and paint-ins are $10, payable to me by the last Saturday of the month before

class. Thank you!

Happy Painting!

Ways & Means

We had some wonderful

baskets last month and made

$67.00. We will have raffles

from Patty Clark, Sue Crumb

and Mary Davis for June. Also

our yearly long auction for the

Mark Menendez original art is

up to $55.00. Don’t miss out on

a beautiful colored pencil

artwork.

they mourn the loss of their

May 14. Our sincere
