What is the SHRM Foundation?
• Nonprofit affiliate of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM)
• Legally separate, 501(c)(3) organization
• Separate budget and Board of Directors from SHRM
SHRM Foundation Overview
Mission:
The SHRM Foundation advances global human capital knowledge and practice by
providing thought leadership and educational support; and sponsoring,
funding and driving the adoption of cutting edge, actionable, evidence-based research.
How is the SHRM Foundation Funded?
• Tax-deductible donations are collected from individuals, chapters and state councils
• SHRM matches donations and covers the Foundation’s operating/overhead expenses
• Thereby, all your donations (every penny!!) stay within the Foundation and are used to fund scholarships, future-focused research, grants, and educational products
• Donated funds do not go into SHRM’s budget and are not used for lobbying or other activities outside the Foundation’s program of work
SHRM Foundation Program of Work
• Strategic thought leadership initiative The SHRM Foundation is conducting a multi-phase program to identify and analyze critical trends likely to impact the workplace in 5-10 years.
• Innovative academic research grants The SHRM Foundation is a leading funder of HR research. More than $1.8 million awarded in past three years.
• Scholarships More than $100,000 annually awarded in education and certification scholarships to professional and student SHRM members, and doctoral students.
• Educational resources Effective Practice Guidelines, Executive Briefings, DVDs, and webinars
Thought Leadership Initiative
Conducting a multi-phase program with the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) to identify and analyze critical trends likely to impact the workplace in the next 5-10 years.
Three themes that have been identified: 1. Evolution of Work and the Worker (featured in 2014)2. Engaging and Integrating a Global Workforce (2015)3. Use of Talent Analytics for Competitive Advantage (2016)

• $25,000 annually for SHRM student members for education or Assurance of Learning exam– Online Application; applications are due November 1
