We think that the crystals will grow better in the Dark.

Devin went to Shaun's house and we gathered the equipment which were 4 glass jars, 4 straws, Alum potash, 4 bits of cotton, cellotape and a box.

First we put hot water in a massive jar and added 3 tea spoons of alum potash and shook it well. Then we poured it in to the 4 jars. After that we tied the cotton to the straw and got a rubber band and put the straw on top of the jar and tied the rubber band around the top of the jar. Then we put food colouring in the jar.

No. When we put our experiment in the box the suns rays couldn’t heat the water so the crystals couldn’t grow because it wasn’t warm enough. So we put the crystals on the class window sill, that’s when we started to see results. Then a few weeks later the crystals had grown half a centimetre long so crystals do grow better in light than dark. Please note that we grew these in winter so they didn't grow to their full size.

We want to share this info with Riverdale students because they might want to do it for fun or for their P.I. We also want to share this info with Mrs Peck and Mr Merriman because this may work with plants so they will know to plant the plant in the sun.
