The textile mill is placed near water, in a city called Lodwar because the climate in the city is good year round. The people working in the textile mill will have no problems with the weather, and there is a lake nearby that runs the energy of the mill. Buses will be used for transportation of workers from Lodwar to the mil, as Lodwar has a good system of buses used for transportation. The violence is in distant cities, Lodwar is the most peaceful place currently in Kenya, even though it has some violence.

Important Figures Odinga is an important person in

the construction of the mill because he supports the lower classes. He can provide money for the construction of the Mill, and the transportation for the people. -->

Dr.Leakey is an important figure in Kenya because he supports anti-corruption. With Dr.Leakey's support, the Textile mill can be safe, and have good workers<------

Reasons for Textile Mill Location

The supporters of Odinga are raging war all over Nairobi and Mombasa and the textile mill can be destructed in those placed. It would be safer to place it up in the north.

Reasons for Textile Mill Location

The 2nd important factor in the placement of the Mill is the packed population in the Bigger towns. It is better to put it in smaller towns with just the right amount of people other then putting it in towns with not only war, but too many people.

The 3rd important factor for the placement of the mill is the technology in the highly developed towns. Technology is increasing, and the textile mill is for the old generation. Textile mill needs to be placed in an area with less technology so it grows into a modern city like Nairobi.

The Government

Kenya is a Republic. Kibaki is currently the leader in Kenya, and technically he still has full authority of the people. Kibaki was selected as the leader in the 2002 Elections for presidents by the people, but they turned out to be a ruthless leader. Odinga is currently the “wanted” leader for Kenya, and the people are raging war to get him the “real” power of the government.

Economic Statistics

Only privately owned foreign companies are allowed in Kenya because Kibaki does not wish to let the foreign companies overpower Kenya.

There has been a lot of U.S support in Kenya in the last 3 years, some of the most important include US support in the 2006 flood, AIDS Foundation founded in Kenya, and recently helping to form a power-sharing deal in Kenya.

Production of a Textile Mill

There is not enough raw materials to make a mill because the civil acts are taking all the money that the government has. Kenya already Imports more materials then it exports and Kenya is in a major debt, like most of the African countries.

Production of a Textile Mill

As shown on the map on the first slide, the water current in the Lake can provide the energy to run the mill, and there is plenty of sunlight in Kenya. The only problem is money.

Production of a Textile Mill

Yes, they have excess capital in order to partner with CK

Partnering with CK would be a good choice for both sides of the mill because that way there is jobs provided by CK for people that need one and CK gets cheap labor because of the GDP in Kenya.

Production of a Textile Mill

Yes, there is enough labor force. The current civil acts are causing people to loose jobs and there is major unemployment. People would be more then happy to get a job in a textile mill up in a peaceful area, even if all they are getting is soup and bread.

Production of a Textile Mill At this time, Calvin Klein

should not open a textile mill in Kenya. Even though the place is quite peaceful, and if they made a mill there would be enough workforce, there is no airport near the mill. The goods would have to be shipped or sent to another city, which is dangerous. Calvin Klein can try again later when Kenya is stable and prosperous.
