Righteous Father, the world does not know you, but I know you; and these know that you have sent me. I made your name known to them, and I will make it known, so that the love with which you have loved me may be in them, and I in them. — John 17:25-26 Things are up in the air! Like all of you, my family and I have been living in the uncertainty of this time. The past two months have been unlike anything I have experienced. I admit that I was not prepared for this as a parent, a husband, or a pastor (they don’t train you for pandemics). Add no school to the mix, an unexpected move with a fluid departure date, and an unknown return to “in-person” worship…and, yeah, things have been up in the air! I do not simply want a return to normal; I need to return to some structure. I like structure. I like knowing what to expect and how to plan for the expected. And, I would like to feel confident that Walmart will have some Charmin when I go there next… Am I alone in feeling this way? I’m guessing I am not alone. I was shopping the other day when I crossed paths with a member of our church. She and I had a wonderful conversation. Continued from page 1

My message this Sunday will discuss the “oneness” to which we are called as a Christian community. Our lesson comes from John 17, which concludes with these verses: “Righteous Father, the world does not know you, but I know you; and these know that you have sent me. I made your name known to them, and I will make it known, so that the love with which you have loved me may be in them, and I in them.” (John 17:25-26) Jesus appeals to his Father. He has made the name of his Father known to his disciples/followers so that they will know the love of God through Jesus. Things may be up in the air for you. I know they are for me. And, at the end of the day, I simply miss being in community with other believers. I miss the unity shared through a common faith. The Good News for all of us, though, is that the love of God in Jesus Christ is still very real! Nothing can separate us from that love. In this time of the unexpected, rest in the assurance of God’s love for you and know the power of His love in Jesus Christ. Blessings, Pastor Ross
