Catholic Daughters Awards At last Friday’s Mass, Mrs. Evelyn Kinzel from the Catholic Daughters presented awards to the winners of their annual contest for 6 th , 7 th and 8 th graders. The themes for this year were, “Whatever you do for the least of my Brethren, You do for me” and “Helping the Needy where I live.” The categories were Art, Computer Art, Essay, Poetry, Music, and Photography. Essay Honorable Mention are Clarissa Ball, Barbara Twichel, Lauren Dull, Kate Schaffer and Kendall Wahl. Placing 3 rd was Brynn Bohrer, 2 nd was Lauren Bodine and 1 st place was Emily Bundy. In the Poetry Division, Honorable Mention went to Meg Parkan, Ella Kate Wilkinson and Clara Stevens. Placing 3 rd was Kellan Wahl, 2 nd was Kate Schafer and 1 st place was Jace Thompson. In the Art Division, Honorable Mention went to Cadie Reichert, Lillian Grace Bland and Lauren Bodine. Placing 3rd was Kellan Wahl, 2nd was Molly Molvig and 1st place went to Lily Dover . In computer art, Honorable Mention went to Cadie Reichert. Placing 3rd was Erica Hellegaard, 2nd was Gabrielle Stock and 1st place went to Ellen Pender. In the Photography Division, Placing 3 rd was Cindy Pham, 2 nd was Katelyn Anderson and 1 st place went to Lily Dover. All first place winners in each category have been sent to the State Catholic Daughters Chairman. The state winning entries are then sent on to the national competition. These leadership skills are also displayed in the school setting and these individuals work hard to do their best in the classroom. This year’s recipients are Molly McGrail and Marcus Wittman. The 2017 Jeffrey Knudson Peace Award Mass was held on Friday, May 19th at 8:15 a.m. at St. Pat's Co-Cathedral. In the spring of 2009, the Annual Peace Awards were renamed the Jeffrey Knudson Peace Awards in honor of 8th grader Jeffrey Knudson. Jeffrey was certainly a true peacemaker and a true representative of this award. The following students received the 2017 peace awards, Olivia Tourtlotte, Christian Martinez, Dominique Evans, Jaden Hampton, Brighid Eaton and Thomas Jackson. Congratulations to all of our recipients! Lunch Account Information With the end of the school year upon us, we will not accept meal charges as of May 2, 2016. If you have any questions concerning your child’s account balance, please contact Diane @ 867-4050. Account balances will be transferred to the next school year. School Supply Lists will be located on the SFU webpage and mailed home with report cards. The lists will also be posted at Wal-Mart Shopko and Target for your shipping convenience. Thank You! Thanks for your generosity and time! SFU staff would also like to thank all the parents and family mem-bers who have volunteered in many capacities over the 2015-16 school year. Your help makes our system work in a personal and caring way! Lost and Found Box is full of items that need to be taken home before Friday, June 3rd. They will then be donated to St. Vincent DePaul. Congratulations to Gabrielle Stock, this year’s recipient of the Elks Student Leadership Award! Students were recog-nized for their outstanding character, classroom involvement and service within the community. Parents, school and staff are also a key part to their success. Celebrate Saint Francis! As we begin the process of moving into our brand new Saint Francis K8 school, we would like to celebrate the parish schools that have served so many students in Billings over the past one hundred years. On Wednesday, May 31, we will celebrate Saint Francis Intermediate/Saint Pius X from 4:00-5:00, Saint Francis Primary/Holy Rosary from 5:00-6:00, and Saint Francis Upper/Fratt from 6:00-8:00. At each school there will be refreshments, tours and memorabilia from years past. The celebration will conclude with appetizers at Saint Francis Upper/Fratt. SFU 7/8 Volleyball

2017-2018 Season

The following is basic information about the FIRST SEASON in our NEW GYM!!!!

Practices will be held IMMEDIATELY after school. Practice will begin the first week of school. Practice will be held 4 days a week. Games are held on Saturdays in a round robin fashion. First weekend of play is September 9 and the last is October 7. Players involved in other sports/activities are ENCOURAGED to play. . . coaches will be flexible with other schedules. We want to

get as many girls involved in school sponsored volleyball as possible. NO previous volleyball experience is needed. Practices will focus on developing skills and knowledge of the game. In order to practice/play, sports physical forms must be turned into the office. Volleyball is a school sponsored sport so it comes at no cost to families. Coaches at this point are:

The school will furnish helmets, shoulder pads, knee/thigh pads, game pants and

game jerseys.

Practices

Practices are at Colton Field. Practice is from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday

through Friday. We expect to practice on snowy and rainy days.

Games

Games are normally scheduled with the 7th grade team playing first followed by

the 8th grade team. Players are required to remain until both games have been

completed and the grounds have been cleaned. The head coach has a release slip

for a parent to sign if the parent wishes to provide the player a ride home af-

ter an away game.
