Immunization Reminder for 6th Graders The State of Montana requires that all students entering the 7th

grade receive a tetanus diphtheria vaccine (Td or Tdap) after the age of 11 or within the last five years. When you go for your sport physicals this spring, ask for this vaccine. Whenever you receive the vaccine, please bring in the docu-mentation to the St. Francis School office so it can be entered in your child’s permanent record. This vaccination is required before the start of our 2017-18 school year. For further medical or religious exemption questions, please con-tact the Montana Immunization Program at 1-406-444-5580.

Bussing Request Form If you are interested in bussing for the 2017-18 school year, please visit the BCS website and choose the Bussing Information tab under Admissions. Bussing areas will be expanded in 2017-18. Please submit a bussing request form if you are interested in bussing, but have been unable to utilize the system in past years because of your location. Cost and bussing options are also available on the website. Cross Country If your student has any interest in being on next fall's SFU Cross Country team, please contact Pam Muskett, plmuskett@gmail.com. There are also packets with some information at the counter near Mrs. Fallang's desk. Catholic Daughters Awards At last Friday’s Mass, Mrs. Evelyn Kinzel from the Catholic Daughters presented awards to the winners of their annual contest for 6th, 7th and 8th graders. The themes for this year were, “Whatever you do for the least of my Brethren, You do for me” and “Helping the Needy where I live.” The categories were Art, Computer Art, Essay, Poetry, Music, and Photography. Essay Honorable Mention are Clarissa Ball, Barbara Twichel, Lauren Dull, Kate Schaffer and Kendall Wahl. Placing 3rd was Brynn Bohrer, 2nd was Lauren Bodine and 1st place was Emily Bundy. In the Poetry Division, Honorable Mention went to Meg Parkan, Ella Kate Wilkinson and Clara Stevens. Placing 3rd was Kellan Wahl, 2nd was Kate Schafer and 1st place was Jace Thompson. In the Art Division, Honorable Mention went to Cadie Reichert, Lillian Grace Bland and Lauren Bodine. Placing 3rd was Kellan Wahl, 2nd was Molly Molvig and 1st place went to Lily Dover . In computer art, Honorable Mention went to Cadie Reichert. Placing 3rd was Erica Hellegaard, 2nd was Gabrielle Stock and 1st place went to Ellen Pender. In the Photography Division, Placing 3rd was Cindy Pham, 2nd was Katelyn Anderson and 1st place went to Lily Dover. All first place winners in each category have been sent to the State Catholic Daughters Chairman. The state winning entries are then sent on to the national competition. Congratulations to all the winners! Currently enrolled families who refer a new student to BCS who enrolls and attends our school in 2017-

Noah Keller Memorial –Student Athlete Award This individual should represent all the key characteristics of being a student-athlete. He/she should be a student that excels in one or more sports that are offered at St. Francis. This student-athlete is to represent the true meaning of team, teamwork and the true sprit of competition. This individual places the team above self; he or she encourages others and is someone who is looked up to by his/her teammates. This individual displays true sportsmanship and represents the school and the Catholic community in a very positive manner. These leadership skills are also displayed in the school setting and these individuals work hard to do their best in the classroom. This year’s recipients are Molly McGrail and Marcus Wittman. Congratulations to both!

The 2017 Jeffrey Knudson Peace Award Mass was held on Friday, May 19th at 8:15 a.m. at St. Pat's Co-Cathedral. In the spring of 2009, the Annual Peace Awards were renamed the Jeffrey Knudson Peace Awards in honor of 8th grader Jeffrey Knudson. Jeffrey was certainly a true peacemaker and a true representative of this award. The following students received the 2017 peace awards, Olivia Tourtlotte, Christian Martinez, Dominique Evans, Jaden Hampton, Brighid Eaton and Thomas Jackson. Congratulations to all of our recipients! Lunch Account Information With the end of the school year upon us, we will not accept meal charges as of May 2, 2016. If you have any questions concerning your child’s account balance, please contact Diane @ 867-4050. Account balances will be transferred to the next school year. School Supply Lists will be located on the SFU webpage and mailed home with report cards. The lists will also be posted at Wal-Mart Shopko and Target for your shipping convenience. Thank You! Celebrate Saint Francis! As we begin the process of moving into our brand new Saint Francis K8 school, we would like to celebrate the parish schools that have served so many students in Billings over the past one hundred years. On Wednesday, May 31, we will celebrate Saint Francis Intermediate/Saint Pius X from 4:00-5:00, Saint Francis Primary/Holy Rosary from 5:00-6:00, and Saint Francis Upper/Fratt from 6:00-8:00. At each school there will be refreshments, tours and memorabilia from years past. The celebration will conclude with appetizers at Saint Francis Upper/Fratt. Apply For Scholarship Summer Art Academy will be held from June 5th—9th on the campus of Rocky Mountain College. This camp is for young artists ages 8-14. SFU 7/8 Volleyball

2017-2018 Season

The following is basic information about the FIRST SEASON in our NEW GYM!!!!

Practices will be held IMMEDIATELY after school. Practice will begin the first week of school. Practice will be held 4 days a week. Games are held on Saturdays in a round robin fashion. First weekend of play is September 9 and the last is October 7. Players involved in other sports/activities are ENCOURAGED to play. . . coaches will be flexible with other schedules. We want to

get as many girls involved in school sponsored volleyball as possible. NO previous volleyball experience is needed. Practices will focus on developing skills and knowledge of the game. In order to practice/play, sports physical forms must be turned into the office. Volleyball is a school sponsored sport so it comes at no cost to families. Coaches at this point are:

Game Plan

The Ram Camp gives each athlete an opportunity to improve his skills. The camp will focus on fundamental techniques of the game of football. The Ram Football Staff, along with current and former Billing Central players, will provide the instruction. In addition to fundamental instruction, games and activities will be conducted.

The school will furnish helmets, shoulder pads, knee/thigh pads, game pants and

game jerseys.

Practices

Practices are at Colton Field. Practice is from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday

through Friday. We expect to practice on snowy and rainy days.

Games

Games are normally scheduled with the 7th grade team playing first followed by

the 8th grade team. Players are required to remain until both games have been

completed and the grounds have been cleaned. The head coach has a release slip

for a parent to sign if the parent wishes to provide the player a ride home af-

ter an away game.
