SEWING THREAD Sewing thread is a smooth, evenly spun,
hard twisted ply yarn, thread by a special finishing process to make it resistant to stresses in its passage through the eye of a needle and though the material involved in seaming and stitching operation.

Cotton/Cotton-PolyesterCommon thread choices of seam stresses High strength, durability and ease of useThey create a well-defined line of machine
stitchesTerm mercerized is often used with this
type of thread

100 Percent SilkOften chosen for its gorgeous sheen
most trouble-free threads to use for machine quilting
Strong and durable Do not stretch, and is similar to polyester
thread in that respect.

EmbroiderySheen and decorativeWide variety to choose
Embroidery floss used for hand embroidery is often made of Egyptian cotton, machine embroidery thread of
choice is often rayon

Metallic ThreadCore wrapped with a metal foil which may be coated with silver alloy, and color is added to this foil with a polyester film which may also
be applied as an undercoatingMetallic thread is one of the most durable
available on the market

Bobbin Lightweight
Very thin threadMost common bobbin threads are cotton,
spun poly, cotton-wrapped poly, and filament poly

CONSTRUCTION AND MANUFACTURING PROCESS
Filament thread means that Z twist is applied to the thread after right twist (S twist) is applied to the filament i.e spun by melting and doubling of 2 to 3 filaments is performed
![Page 11: Sewing thread and its types](https://reader034.vdocuments.us/reader034/viewer/2022052200/58ab6f221a28abb54e8b530d/html5/thumbnails/11.jpg)
Spun thread means(Z twist) (second twist) is applied to the staple
(shortfiber)after doubling (first twist) of right twisted single yarn
and doubling of 2 to 3 yarns is performed
![Page 12: Sewing thread and its types](https://reader034.vdocuments.us/reader034/viewer/2022052200/58ab6f221a28abb54e8b530d/html5/thumbnails/12.jpg)
Wooly thread is a thread that doubling of these two yarns is performed and the twist
is applied. This thread is called filament expansion processed thread

Monofilament thread is just the same as long fiber that is spun
by melting and a long yarn without twist. In addition to sewing thread, this thread is
used for fishing thread or the like
