    To remove:1 Remove Screws (A) (2 pcs) and remove the face

    cover .

    To attach:2 Follow the above procedure in reverse.

    Replacing the face cover

    Replacing the top cover

    To remove:1 Open the face cover.

    2 Remove the caps (2 pcs), Screw (B) and Screw(C).Raise the carrying handle and remove Screw (D).

    3 Raise the top cover and disconnect the bobbinwinder connector . Renove the top cover from rearside. Presser dial comes off together.

    To attach:4 Raise the carrying handle, insert the top cover

    from rear side.

    5 Connect the bobbin winder connector to the Aboard.

    6 Tighten Screws (B), (C), (D).

    7 Attach the caps.

    Changing External Parts (2)

    Replacing the belt cover

    To remove:1LoosenScrew(A).

    2 Remove the Caps and remove Screws (B) and(C).

    3 Remove the hook under the belt cover while pushing below and remove the belt cover.

    To attach:4 Match the belt cover position with the front cover.

    5 Attach the belt cover while pushing the hook below.

    6 Tighten the Screws (A), (B) and (C).

    7Attach the caps .

    Replacing the bed coverTo remove:1Remove the extension table.

    2 Remove Screws (A) (2 pcs) and remove the bedcover.

    To attach:3 Follow the above procedure in reverse.

    Replacing the baseTo remove:1 Remove the extension table.

    2 Remove the belt cover.

    3 Disconnect the connector from the printed circuitboard S1 .

    4 Loosen Screws (A) and (B) and remove the base.

    To attach:5 Insert the connector cords between the base and

    arm. Make sure that the cords should not becaught between the arm and base unit whenattaching it, then tighten Screws (4 pieces) temporarily.

    6 Attach the extension table.

    7 Match the extension table, base and free armposition and tighten Screw (B).

    8 Tighten the rest of Screws (A).

    9 Insert the connector tothe printed circuitboard S1 from below the releasing arm .

    10 Attach the belt cover.

    To remove:

    1 Open the face cover and remove the top cover, beltcover and extension table.

    2 Loosen Screw (A) and remove the arm thread guide(rear) .

    3 Loosen Screw(B).

    4 Loosen Screw (C) and remove (D).

    5 Disconnect the each connector and remove the front cover.

    Note: Unlock the hooks while removing the front cover.

    To attach:

    6 Follow the above procedure in reverse.

    1 Remove the face cover, top cover and belt cover.

    2 Loosen Screws (A), (B), (C) and remove Screw (D)and remove the rear cover.

    Note: Lower the presser foot.

    Changing Thread Tension Unit

    To remove:1 Remove the front cover.

    2.Lowerthepresserfootlifter.

    3 Remove Screws (A), (B).

    4 Pull the connector out from the U board and remove the thread tension unit.

    To attach:

    3 Follow the above procedure in reverse.

    Note: After changing the thread tension, check the tension release mechanism. (See page 26)

    1 Remove the needle plate and bed cover.

    2 Loosen Screw (A) and remove the threadcutter cover .

    3 Remove Screws (B) (2 pcs) and remove the threadcutter unit.

    4 Insert the pin and into the thread cutter hole andattach the thread cutter unit by Screw (B).

    Note: After changing the thread cutter unit, check the driving arm function with turning the

    handwheel. 1 Lower the needle bar at its lowest position. 2 Push the driving arm (1) down and insert the pin into the ditch of the cutter driving cam .

    3 Turn the handwheel to drive the cutter slide plate. 4 Driving arm (1) disengage from the stopper and return to the home position (upper position).

    To remove:

    1 Remove the face cover and the top cover.

    2 Loosen the Screw (A).

    3 Disconnect the bobbin winding motor and the needlethreader sensor from the printed circuit board U.

    * Remove the cords from cord guide .

    4 Remove Screws (B) (2 pieces) and remove the motor.

    * Remove the lamp supporter before replace the motor.

    To attach:

    5 Insert the convex part of the needle bar supporter into the forked part of the moval body .

    6 Attach the motor by Screw (B).

    7 Insert the each cord in the cord guide and connect to the circuit board U. Attach the front cover.

    8 Attach the face cover and top cover.

    To remove:

    1 Remove the front cover.

    2 Disconnect the each connector from the printed circuit board A.

    3. Remove Screws (A) (8 pieces) and remove the printed circuit board A with the Card guide .

    To remove:

    Printed circuit board F1To remove:1 Remove the front cover.2 Pull out the connector from the printed circuit board A.3 Remove Screws (A) (2 pieces) and remove the Printed circuit board F 1 .

    Replacing Switching Power Supply

    To remove:

    1 Remove the top cover, belt cover, base, and rear cover.

    2 Remove Screws (A) and (B), and remove the switching power supply .

    3 Disconnect the herness from switching powersupply.

    To attach:

    4 Follow the above procedure in reverse.

    Replacing DC Motor and Motor Belt Tension Adjustment

    Replacing DC Motor

    To remove:1 Remove the belt cover.

    2 Remove the motor belt.

    3 Disconnect the Motor connector from the printed circuit board A.

    4 Remove Screws (A) (2 pieces) and replace the motor.

    To attach:5 Follow the above procedure in reverse.

    Adjusting motor belt tension

    1 Tighten Screws (A) (2 pieces) temporarily.

    2 Adjust the Belt deflection to about 5.0 mm by pressing the middle of the motor belt with your finger with approximately 200 grams of pressure .3 Tighten Screws (A) securely.

    4 Attach the belt cover.

    Adjusting Needle Drop PositionWhen the straight stitch is selected on the touch panel, the needle should be positioned inthe center of the needle plate hole.When the zigzag stitch is selected with the zigzag width set to the maximum (7.0 ), theclearance between the side of the needle and the edge of hole of the needle plate at the leftand right needle position should be 0.2 mm or more.

    1 Remove the top cover and slect the pattern No. 1(Straight stitch).

    Lower the needle to its lowest position by turning the handwheel toward you.

    2 Loosen the Screw (A). Move the Zigzag rod left or right to set the needle in the center of the Hole of the needle plate , then tighten Screw (A).

    3 Select the pattern No.6 (Zigzag). Set the zigzag width to maximum (7.0).

    4 Turn the handwheel toward you to check if the clearance between the side of the needle and the edge of the Hole of the needle plate , at the left and right needle position, is 0.2 mm or more .

    5 Attach the top cover.

    Adjusting Hook TimingWhen the pattern No.2 is selected, the amount of ascending travel of the needle bar from itslowest position to the position where the tip of the rotary hook exactly meets the right sideof the needle should be 3.25 to 3.55 mm.

    1 Remove the presser foot, needle plate and bobbin holder.

    2 Remove the extension table and bed cover.

    3 Turn the power switch ON and select the pattern No.2.

    4 Press the ADJUST key and set the zigzag width at 0 by manual adjustment, then turn the power switch OFF.

    5 Lower the needle to its lowest position by turning the handwheel toward you.

    6 In this condition, if the convex of the feed lifting cam is in the lowest position, loosen screws of the lower shaft gear (G) .

    7 Raise the needle bar further 3.4 mm from the lowest position .

    8 Turn the lower shaft gear until the tip of rotary hook meets with the right side of the needle . Tighten the screws of the lower shaft gear (A).

    9 Reattach the bobbin holder, needle plate and presser foot.

    10 Shut thebed cover and extension table.

    Adjusting Needle Bar HeightThe standard distance between the upper edge of the needle eye and the tip of the rotaryhook should be in the range of 1.6 - 2.0 mm when the rotary hook meets the right side of theneedle in ascending travel of needle from its lowest position.

    1 Remove the presser foot, Needle plate and Bobbin holder.

    2 Turn the power switch ON and select the patternNo.2.

    3 Press ADJUST key and set the zigzag width at 0, then turn the power switch OFF.

    4 Turn the handwheel to raise the needle bar from the lowest position until the tip of the rotary hook meets with the right side of the needle .

    5 Open the face cover and loosen Screw (A) as shown.

    6 Move the Needle bar up or down to adjust the needle bar height.

    7 Tighten the Screw (A). Be sure that the groove onthe needle bar facing right in the front.

    8 Shut the face cover.

    9 Reattach the Bobbin holder, Needle plate and presser foot.

    Adjusting Clearance between Needle and HookThe clearance between needle and rotary hook should be -0.10 to + 0.05 mm.

    1 Remove the needle, needle plate, bobbin holder, and bed cover, and attach the Test pin .

    2 Turn the power switch ON and select the pattern No. 8, then set the zigzag width at 7.0 by pressing ADJUST key.

    3 Loosen Screws (A), (B), (C) and tighten Screw (C)temporarily.

    4 Turn the handwheel toward you and adjust the clearance between the Test pin and the Tip of rotary hook to - 0.10 to + 0.05 mm by moving the Rotary hook set plate up or down.

    5 Tighten the screws (A), (B), (C) firmly.

    6 Check the rotary hook driver gear and the lower shaft gear backlash. If gears mesh or engage tightly or loosely, check Adjusting Backlash between Hook Drive and Lower Shaft Gear.

    7 Reattach the bed cover,bobbin holder, needle plate,extension table and needle.

    Adjusting Backlash between Hook Drive Gear and LowerShaft GearThe rotary play of the hook should be 0.8 mm or less when the tip of the rotary hook iswithin the width of the feed dog as shown below.Adjust the backlash after the adjustment of the clearance between needle and rotary hook.

    To check:1 Turn the power switch OFF2 Remove the extension table and bed cover.3 Loosen the Hexagonal socket screw (A). Jog the hook race with fingers to check the rotary play. If the play is larger than 0.8 mm or the gears do not turn smoothly, adjust the backlash as follows

    Adjustment procedure:

    1 Turn the Lower shaft bushing (Eccentric), in th direction of A when the play at rotary hook tip is too large.2 Turn the Lower shaft bushing (Eccentric), in the direction of B when the play at rotary hook tip is too small.

    3 Tighten the Hexagonal socket screw (A).

    4 Reattach the bed cover and extension table.

    Lower shaft bushing The rotary hook play should be 0.8 mm or less.

    Adjusting Presser Foot Position and HeightWhen the presser foot is raised, the clearance between the presser foot and the needleplate should be 0.6 mm.When the presser foot is lowered, the edge of the foot and the feed dog window on theneedle plate should be parallel.

    1 Open the face cover.

    2 Raise the presser foot, loosen Screw (A) to adjust the presser foot position and presser foot height, then tighten screw (A).

    3 Attach the face cover.

    Adjusting Feed Dog HeightWhen the pressure adjusting dial is set at 3 and the presser foot is lowered, the highestposition of the feed dog should be 0.80 to 0.90 mm from the surface of the needle plate.

    To adjust feed dog height1 Remove the extension table,bed cover and thread cutter cover.2 Set the pressure dial at 3 and lower the presser bar lifter, then turn the power switch ON.3 Turn the handwheel toward you until the feed dog comes to its highest position.4 Loosen Screw (A).5 Loosen Nut and adjust the feed dog height to 0.8 to 0.90 mm by turning the adjusting screw (B).6 Tighten Nut .7 Tighten Screw (A).

    To adjust the feed dog position parallel toneedle plate

    Turn the handwheel toward you until the feed dogcomes to its highest position, the feed dog and theneedle plate should be parallel. If not, follow theinstructions below.1 Prepare the hexagonal socket screw (C) and insert it to the Threaded hole and screw it until the tip of threaded screw reaches the bottom.2 Loosen Screw (D).3 Turn the hexagonal socket screw (C) and adjust the feed dog parallel to the needle plate.4 Tighten Screw (D).5 Loosen the hexagonal socket screw (C) and remove it.6 Reattach the thread cutter cover, bed cover and extension table.

    Adjusting Height of Embroidery Foot PSpace between the needle plate and the bottom surface of the Foot (P) should be0.7 to 1.5 mm, when the needle bar is at its lowest position.

    1 Set the pressure dial at 2 and remove the top cover.

    2 Lower the needle bar and lower the presser bar lifter.

    3 Insert the 1.2 mm Thickness gauge between the Embroidery Foot (P) and the needle plate.

    4 While pressing the Pressure bar actuator down against the upper shaft cam, loosen the Screw (A) and push it down to the direction of arrow, then tighten Screw (A) again.

    5 Reattach the rear cover. (Set the Pressure dial at 3.)

    NOTE: After this adjustment, must perform Foot sensor adjustment. (See page 32)

    Adjusting Upper Shaft Shield Plate PositionWhen the machine is set for zigzag stitch, the needle should start to swing 8.3 to 8.7 mmabove the surface of the needle plate.

    1 Set up the machine in Adjust Mode. Turn the power switch ON while pressing the Start/Stop button (Keep pressing button until the LCD shows the Adjusting window.)

    2 Turn the handwheel toward you and raise the needle8.5 mm above the surface of the needle plate.

    3 Remove the base and loosen the Screw (A) of theupper shaft shield plate . Turn the upper shaft shieldplate until PH sensor signal changes from H to L, andtighten the Screw (A).

    4 Position the right face of the Upper shaft shield plate in the center of slit of the Upper shaft sensor and tighten Screw.

    5 Reattach the base.

    Adjusting Tension Release MechanismWhen the presser foot lifter is raised, the tension release mechanism should work correctly.If not, adjust as follows.

    Adjusting tension release claw

    1 Remove the top cover unit.

    2. Lower the presser foot and turn the threadtension dial until the convex part of tensiondial is set at the tension release claw .In this condition, loosen screw (A) andadjust the tension release adjusting plateto touch the tension discs supporter .The tension discs should be opened slightly.

    3. Tighten screw (A).

    To Adjust the thread releasing plate

    4. Lower the presser foot, turn the threadtension dial until the flat surface positiontouches the releasing claw .

    5. Loosen screw (B).

    6. Set the thread releasing lever so it touchesthe thread release plate slightly andtighten screw (B).

    7. When the presser foot is raised, the tensiondiscs should be opened.

    Note: The clearance between the tension discsupporter and the thread releasing plateshould be 0.5 to 1.0 mm when thepresser foot is lowered.

    Adjusting Needle Thread TensionThe standard upper thread tension should be 59 to 67 grams when the machine is set forpattern No.1 and the tension dial is set at AUTO, measured with a #50 polyester threadbeing pulled at approximately 110 mm/sec. in the direction of arrow.

    1 Turn the power switch ON and select the patternNo. 1. Press the needle up/down button twice.

    2 Set the thread tension [3.4] by pressing ADJUST key.

    2 Lower the presser foot.

    3 Open the face cover and adjust the thread tension.

    (A) If the thread tension is less than 59 g, .................turn the screw in the direction of .(B) If the thread tension is more than 67 g, ...............turn the screw in the direction of +

    Replacing Threader Plate and AdjustmentIf the hook on the threader plate is damaged, replace it as follows.

    To replace:1 Remove the foot holder.

    2 Turn the power switch ON. Raise the needlewhile pressing the needle up/down button.

    3 Lower the threader while pushing the threader button .

    4 Turn off the poawer switch.

    5 Loosen screaws (2pcs)(A) and replace the threaderplate .

    Adjustment procedure:1. If the threader hook thrusts or hits against either

    left or right edge of the needle eye: Loosen Screws(A) and adjust the position of the threader plate .

    2. If the threader hook thrusts against either top orbottom edge of the needle eye, or misses the needleeye:

    Remove the face cover and loosen Screw (B). Movethe Threader position adjusting holder (G) up ordown to adjust the hook position.

    Adjusting Needle Threader SwitchAdjust the upper switch position as follows if the instructional display will not disappear.

    1. Remove screws (A) ( 2 pieces) and removethe motor cover .

    2. Loosen screw (B) and adjust the position of switchposition by moving it up or down, so that the needlethreader stops with a 3 mm gap between the slider and the top end of the guide slot.

    3. Attach the motor cover with Screws (A).

    TTP Adjusting Modeif a different pattern appears on the touch panel when you pressed the touch panel forselecting a desired pattern, follow the instructions below.

    To adjust touch panel:

    1 While pressing the Needle Up/Down button , turn the power switch ON . (Keep pressing the Needle Up/Down button until the PRESS MARK and + mark appears.)

    2 Press + mark with the touch pen or the tip of the additional spool pin. (Press to in order.)

    3 When you press the fifth + , ADJUSTMENT END will appear on the touch panel.

    4 Turn the power switch OFF.

    5 Turn the power switch ON and check the Touch panel again.

    Adjusting Stretch Stitch BalanceWhen a stretch pattern is sewn with the feed balancing dial set at the standard settingmark , the pattern should be as indicated with the mark in the following figure.If not (If the forward feeding and backward feeding are out of balance), make an adjustmentas follows:

    1 Set up the machine in Adjust Mode. Turn the power switch ON while pressing the Start/Stop button (Keep pressing button until the LCD shows the Adjusting window.)2 Press 8 Adjust on the touch panel.3 Set the feed balancing dial at the standard setting mark .4 Check the sewing results. (The standard length of the five pieces of figure 8 is 34 mm .)5 Remove the base lid.6 If the length of the stitch pattern is extended more than the standard length, turn the Adjusting screw in the direction of A. If the length of the stitch pattern is shorter than the standard length, turn the Adjusting screw in the direction of B.7 Check the sewing results.8 Press (X) key and turn the power OFF.9 Reattach the base lid .

    Adjusting Presser Foot Lifter SensorTo adjust the presser foot sensor

    1 Start the machine in Adjust Mode. Turn the power switch ON while pressing the Start/Stop button and the reverse button at the same time. (Keep pressing both buttons until LCD shows Adjust Mode.)

    2. Press the Foot UD key on the touch panel.

    3 Remove the top cover.

    4. Loosen Screw (A) and adjust the Switch fixing plate and make sure the screen shows H when the presser foot is raised and screen shows L when the presser foot is lowered, then tighten the Screw (A).

    * After turning the power switch ON, in this condition, the Tension release plate should be pushed by the Tension release lever .

    5 Press X key and turn the power switch OFF.

    6 Attach the top cover.

    * Turn the power switch ON and check if the sensor works properly when the patternNo.16 is selected.

    Adjusting Buttonhole Lever

    To adjust buttonhole lever:

    1 Start up the machine in Adjust Mode. Turn the power switch ON while pressing the Start/Stop button. (Keep pressing the button until the LCD shows Adjusting window.)

    2 Press BH Sensor key on the touch panel.

    3 Loosen screw (A) and move the BH lever guide , so that the screen shows L when the BH lever is lowered. Then tighten Screw (A).

    4 Attach the BH Foot (R) and lower the BH lever .

    5 Insert the 1.6 mm thickness gauge between the slider and the spring holder to set the space at 1.6 mm.

    6. Loosen Screw (B) until the touch panel shows H.

    7 Screw in the screw until the screen indication changes from H to L.

    8 Press X key and turn the power switch OFF.

    Adjusting Presser Foot SensorTo adjust foot sensor position

    1 Start the machine in Adjust Mode. Turn the power switch ON while pressing the Start/Stop button and the reverse button at the same time. (Keep pressing both buttons until LCD shows Adjust Mode.)2. Press the Foot Sensor key on the touch panel.3 Attach the Standard presser foot , set the pressure dial at 3 , lower the feed dog and the presser foot.4. Lower the needle bar to the lowest position .5 Loosen the Foot sensor shield plate screw (A).6 Move the foot sensor shield plate to the left most until it touches the sensor lightly. (L will appear on the touch panel.)7. Remove the standard foot and lower the presser bar. (H will appear on the touch panel.)

    To check:

    8 Set the pressure dial at 2.

    9 Change the foot to Embroidery foot P and slowly lower the presser foot lifter.

    10 Turn the handwheel to raise the needle bar to its highest position.

    11 When slightly moving the foot sensor shield plate within its play, check the indication on the touch panel.

    If the screen shows H: The foot sensor is properly adjusted. Press the X key and turn the power switch OFF.

    If the screen shows L: Readjust the height of Embroidery foot P and proceed with the adjusting steps again from step 1 to 7.

    Adjusting Remaining Bobbin Thread Sensor

    To adjust buttonhole lever:1 Start the machine in Adjust Mode. Turn the power switch ON while pressing the Start/Stop button and the reverse button at the same time. (Keep pressing both buttons until LCD shows Adjust Mode.)

    2 Press Bobbin key on the touch panel.

    3 Insert the gauge bobbin (9.2 mm in diameter) in the bobbin holder and press the Key button. (The numbers will appear under the Key button. Press the Key button several times and check if the same number appears each time.)

    4 Press MEM1 button. (The data for step 3 is registered in MEM 1.)

    5 Insert the gauge bobbin (10.3 mm in diameter) in the bobbin holder and press the Key button. (The numbers will appear under the Key button. Press the Key button several times and check if the same number appears each time.)

    6. Press MEM 2 button. (The data for Step 5 is registered in MEM 2.)

    7 Make sure the difference of numbers for MEM 1 and MEM 2 is 4 or more. (The mean number of MEM 1 and MEM 2 will be the standard data.)

    8 Press OK button.

    9 Turn the power switch OFF.

    1 Remove the base.

    3 Tighten Screws (A).

    2. Press the Solenoidr key on the touch panel.

    3 Remove the bed cover, base and thread cutter cover.

    4 Lower the needle bar at its lowest position.

    5 When lower the actuator arm , L will be indicated on the Solenoid 2 window of the touch panel. If the screen dose not show L, loosen Screw (A) and adjust it by moving the switch to left or right.

    6 When raise the actuator arm (1), H will be indicated on the Solenoid 2 window of the touch panel. If the screen dose not show H, loosen Screw (A) and adjust it by moving the switch to left or right.

    7 Attach the thread cutter cover, bed cover and base.

    Adjust the sewing start position as follows. (Method of not removing base)

    Adjusting the Sewing Start Position

    Note:If the start position shifts greatly, see page 41.

    1 Remove the Y carriage cover .

    2 Remove the foot holder and attach the embroideryhoop (ST).

    3 Place the template on the embroidery hoop (ST).

    4 Turn the power switch ON. Select the embroidery modeand select pattern NO.1.

    5 Check the needle if it is enter the start position hole of the template.

    6 Turn the power switch OFF.

    7 When threr is a gap, loosen Screws (A) (4 pcs) andadjust that the needle comes to center.

    8 Turn the power switch ON again. Select the patternNO.1 and check the start position.

    9 Remove the template and the embroidery hoop. Selectthe conventional sewing mode and return the carriageto normal position.

    10 Turn the power switch OFF and attach the Y carriagecover.

    To Adjust Upper Shaft Declutch Device[Correct position of the upper shaft declutch device (E)]

    When the flat part of the upper shaft (C) is leveled,the take up crank (D) should be at the angle of 12.3degree s (B).

    To reduce the play of the declutch piece, loosen the set-screw (F) and (G).While pushing the upper shaft declutch device in thederection of (I), tighten the setscrew (F). Then tighten thesetscrew (G). Make sure that the declutch piece (H) movessmoothly.
