Dear Riverhill Membership, I hope you are all well and staying safe and healthy through these connued difficult mes. We had sent out informaon regarding the hot and dry condions over the past several weeks. As stated, we have been substanally curtailed in pumping our waters sources unl further noce. With the addion of the new pond on #4 and the reclaimed water availability, we will be watering the course predominantly from this source. Kevin and his crew have worked hard to keep the course in the best possible shape. We have a great stand of grass throughout the golf course, but we will see turf condions drying out for a period of me unl we experience cooler temperatures and much needed rainfall. Thank you for your paence as we get through these hot and dry mes. This is the reason we built the lake on #4 and entered into this long term agreement with the City of Kerrville for the reclaimed water program. We look forward to a return to normal with our watering programs. As an important reminder, please abide by the cart rules as posted by the golf shop. It will make a tremendous difference and a courtesy to all concerned when following these rules. We are in the process of resurveying areas of the golf course. We have been approached over the years with many quesons on property lines and feel it is me to define these areas. You will see survey flags throughout the next few months. Please do not remove these flags. Although 2020 has been a difficult year in many aspects, The Club is in a great place with almost 650 members. We have experienced higher volumes in the Turning Point and acvity throughout The Club. We have a terrific membership and staff and appreciate the great support from our membership. Riverhill Proud!! Dear Riverhill Membership,

I hope you are all well and staying safe and healthy through these continued difficult times. We had sent out information regarding the hot and dry conditions over the past several weeks. As stated, we have been substantially curtailed in pumping our waters sources until further notice. With the addition of the new pond on #4 and the reclaimed water availability, we will be watering the course predominantly from this source. Kevin and his crew have worked hard to keep the course in the best possible shape. We have a great stand of grass throughout the golf course, but we will see turf conditions drying out for a period of time until we experience cooler temperatures and much needed rainfall. Thank you for your patience as we get through these hot and dry times. We have been approached over the years with many questions on property lines and feel it is time to define these areas. You will see survey flags throughout the next few months. Please do not remove these flags. Although 2020 has been a difficult year in many aspects, The Club is in a great place with almost 650 members. We have experienced higher volumes in the Turning Point and activity throughout The Club. We have a terrific membership and staff and appreciate the great support from our membership. From the Desk of Bryan Hargrove Membership Director

The “Time To Get Off The Fence” membership drive is over and the response was overwhelming. It exceeded all of

my expectations. Let me say “Thanks” to the membership that brought in new referrals during this campaign. Your

contribution to our membership growth will not go unrewarded. I also want to point out that our staff worked

extremely hard in making our guests feel welcome. As did our membership, when I was touring these potential

members around the club. RIVERHILL PROUD!!

With more new members coming to the club, please follow the proper protocol concerning COVID-19. Wear masks

when entering any building at the club. Maintain proper social distancing. And, use the sanitizers often.

REMINDER: TABC (Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission) law prohibits bringing any alcohol on the premises where

alcohol is sold. This includes the golf course, tennis courts, fitness center, swimming pool, and any buildings. We

could lose our license if this law is violated. Your cooperation is appreciated.

One bright side with Covid is the golf course has gotten busier as membership has grown as many people are coming back to the game. A few reminders while coming to the club to play, please check into the golf shop prior to your round so we make sure we have accurate names in the group, you can pick up your pin sheet and can be aware of anything going that day. GHIN Handicap entry can be done by our staff by either dropping in the box or at the counter and can also be done on the GHIN app. If entering on the app we do need your scorecard returned for our records, if dropping for staff to enter make sure full name, member number, tee played and date are on the card. Controlling cart traffic with increased member play and extremely dry conditions is important so all of us can have the best playing conditions possible for the fall. Please pair up or if you choose not to pair up the extra carts taken need to stay on the path. Minimizing turf damage is of great importance, please do your part to help to prevent cart path only conditions. Ball marks. Till the heat breaks our greens will be soft. Under soft conditions even pitch shots make marks. Please repair yours and a couple others while playing. Divots: Even though it is dry still sand your divots, this will help get the fairways back once we get some rain.

We strive to continue to grow the junior program and this fall the practices will be Wednesday’s at 4:00 (9 and under) and 5:00 (10 and over), starting Sept. 2nd. Also we will continue the monthly Jr playdays one Saturday afternoon a month. If you know of any juniors that would like to learn how to play or ones that already play and want to continue to improve their games, have them call the golf shop. Collins Cup: The Collins Cup teams will be picked after the Fall Member-Member. The Club Championship, Byron Nelson Invitational and Fall Member-Member are the last qualifying events of the year with the Top 36 players earning spots into the Ryder Cup style event. The fall will be busy with the following activities: A Round to Remember Sept 12th Salvation Army Open Sept. 14th Ladies Club Championship Sept. 18th - 19th Men’s Club Championship Sept. 18th - 20th

Men’s Golf Association (MGA)

Greetings from the MGA! As you’re reading this, September will have arrived and Fall is in the air. Now that the

chuckle is out of the way, here is some news about our upcoming schedule.

This month on the 25th and 26th, we are going to hold a Ryder Cup MGA Team Championship. It will include a Friday

night get together where we will pick the teams. The MGA will provide some food and hats with your team logo. The

next morning, play will begin with an 8:30am shotgun start. This should be great fun and participation will earn you

Collins Cup points.

In October we will have two events. On the 10th we will have Night Golf. This will include dinner at 6:00pm followed

by a 9 hole match at 7:00pm. On Thursday the 22nd, we will hold our Annual Fall Cookout. The festivities will begin

with our Big Break contest. This is the event where we setup 9 stations for competing in putting and chipping

challenges. That will be followed by the cookout. Additionally, we hope to provide some entertainment this year. As

always, the Big Break Contest and the cookout will be open to members and their spouses.

Page 5: September 2020riverhillcc.com/wp-content/uploads/September-2020...One bright side with ovid is the golf course has gotten busier as membership has grown as many people are coming back

We’re bringing back the Trifecta format in November. On the 7th we will hold the Turkey Triple. As before, this will include Best Ball, Scramble and Alternate Shot formats. However, we have an interesting and devious twist for our First Flight participants. Their 6 hole scramble will be a Worst Shot Scramble. Instead of picking the best shot, they will have to play the worst shots. That ought to make for some interesting post-match conversations. As always, we will hold the Annual Breakfast in December. That will be followed by a 4 man scramble. Once again, the deadline for submitting this article occurred prior to our August event, the Short Game Challenge. So, I don’t have any results to report. If you won, puff out your chest and let everyone know. Until next month, Happy Golfing! Jay Dunn Riverhill Women’s Golf Association

Make September a Month to Remember

I truly thought the golfing days would slow down a bit in August. Boy was I wrong! Let’s just start right off with some fun!

On July 25th our fearless leader, Diane Henry, shot an Eagle on #3 from 93 yards out using a 9 iron! What a feat!!!! The shot was witnessed by Rhonda Taylor, Carol Swanson

July Ace of the Month was Judy Fellows

The more I practice the luckier I get ~ Gary Player

Many thanks to the eleven ladies who came out and played “Two Free Pars” on July 29th. First Net Marlene Grothues, 2nd Net Judy Fellows, 3rd Net Carol Swanson and Low Gross Diane Henry.

For the August 5th scramble RWGA was thrilled to see some new faces back in the swing of things! Welcome back Linda Ehrenreich, Barbara Holloway and Sally Peterson!

The scramble found three teams one stroke apart with two teams tying at 69. Card matching gave the tie to winners, Gill Davidson, Glenda Bumpus, Carol Swanson and Sally Peterson. WELL DONE and CONGRATULATIONS!!!

In a very tight match, Gill and Patty finished 1up. Congratulations Ladies you make us proud!!!

Diana was playing #15 when SHAZAM she broke her favorite wood! Most importantly, even though she was disap-pointed, she never stopped smiling! RIVERHILL PROUD!

Swanson was low gross, Marlene Grothues was 1st low net and second low net was split between Patty Armstrong

and Judy Fellows.
