Twenty-Third Sunday in Ordinary Time

PASTOR’S CORNER PAGE Dear Sisters and Brothers in the Lord,

Today is the 23rd Sunday in Ordinary Time, like any other Sunday of the year, it is the “Day of the Lord”, or as in the early church, it is the Lord’s Day of Resurrec-

on. But on this day, September 8, the Church’s cal-endar of the saints, today marks the Feast of the Birth of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Today, I am celebra ng the Eucharist with pilgrims in Medjugorje and offering the Mass for out parish community of Queen of Apostles. Although the Church had not given a final stand on Mary’s appari on in Medjugorje, pilgrims like me have come to visit the place that has become sacred and holy. I bring with me all your inten ons and prayers and to ask through her intercession every blessings for our parish families. As we celebrate her birthday through our “Ice Cream Sunday”, may we ever gaze upon her always; she who looks at us as her children. I wish to offer my gra tude to our parish Ladies Guild who organized and provided the ice cream and other goodies.

O Mary, Queen of Apostles, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee!

+ fr. Jeff

Family Faith Forma on

Faith forma on is more than just “Sunday School.” It is a life-long process. At Queen of Apostles, our Family Faith Forma on minis-

Dear Parishioners,

Queen of Apostles School has started for the school year. We welcome Mrs. Trela

as she moves from her Vice Principal posi on to Principal job this year. She is a long me member of our school community, as a teacher since 2004 and Vice Principal for four years. Mrs. Trela is looking forward to partnering with families for students’ academic and spiritual growth through-out the year.

We have been very fortunate to have Tony Talaich and his maintenance team caring for our school. He and a small team were able to get new windows installed in each of the 1st through 8th grade classrooms and the office in August. Every-one is apprecia ng the new windows.

And finally, we heard about this a er the first day of school. There was a kindergartner who was reluctant to stay for the first morning of school, but she did, and in just a few short hours she didn’t want to leave. We’ve got great teachers!
