Improvisational Piecing Workshop

Improvisational Piecing Do you want to learn to let loose with your piecing? In this workshop students will get tips and tricks for making fun, spontaneous quilts. As each student works on her own improvisational piece there will be ample time for experimentation and real time problem solving.

Supply List

Sewing machine in good working order Basic sewing supplies (pins, needle for machine, seam ripper etc.) Scissors Rotary cutter, mat and rulers. We will be working with small pieces, so a small mat is adequate. Bring a

couple of your favorite acrylic rulers. Neutral thread Fabric scraps from your stash – an assortment of light, medium, and dark values. Now I know you’re go-

ing to ask me how many scraps and how big? That’s hard to quantify – but a grocery bag worth of scraps, whatever sizes you have will work. Remember this is Improvisational Piecing – we’ll improv with whatever you come up with!

3, ½ yards of solid fabrics – 1 light, 1 medium, 1 dark value all in the same color family

October's workshop with Tinna Tarr on Improvisational Piecing is fill-

ing up fast. I have room for 9 more max. Already have 16. Please ask folks to email me if they want to sign up - ronni.longwell@yahoo. com. $25. A supply list is attached that can be printed in the newsletter. Location to be determined based on size of group. Ronni Longwell

Update: Emergency Fund

The Museum has received 185 donations totaling $21,000 to off-set the cost of replacing our broken air handler. A new energy efficient unit must be custom-made at a cost of $88,000. With major gifts from three anonymous donors and the Theodore Edson Parker Foundation, we hope to restore climate control to the Museum by mid-October. We are grateful to the members, quilt guilds and supporters, who have contributed to the Emergency Fund this summer. Thank you!
