The Chamber office receives inquiries on a daily basis from people who live in states such as Tennessee and Virginia who are moving to Tracy to follow Amazon for work. As of now, the excitement has been job, jobs, jobs, but are we ready for servicing those employees once they are hired and on the job? This is where our business community needs to be ready. Amazon is bringing more than just jobs to Tracy; they are bringing customers for our businesses. From pest control, to real estate, to restaurants; these employees will need all the essentials. Are we ready to roll out the red carpet and make them feel welcome? The Chamber is preparing to provide a detailed relocation packet to feature all the helpful information a new resident would need. A list of Chamber member businesses will also be featured in the relocation packet and the Chamber will continue to refer new residents to the business directory on our website for their business services www.tracychamber.org. Although you may think calling your local Chamber of Commerce is old fashioned and not the most popular thing to do in this age of technology, I can tell you from experience that there are still people who prefer to talk to a live person and get an honest opinion about the community and its businesses. Our office receives those calls on a daily basis and the Chamber is here to provide the information new residents are looking for. The entire Tracy community needs to prepare for Amazon’s opening and embrace the opportunities that are coming with it. Whether you’re an entrepreneur or you own a retail store, you need to identify how you will take advantage of the captive audience Amazon is bringing your way! We will have over a thousand more employees working here in Tracy and not commuting to another city. Although some of Amazon’s employees may all not live here in Tracy, they will need to stop for gas, grab a bite to eat and shop during their lunch break which will result in visiting our Tracy businesses. There is a constant buzz in the community about Amazon building a fulfillment center in Tracy. The center is slated to open in October of this year, and hiring has already begun for their 1,000 plus anticipated employees.

The Chamber is getting ready to provide the necessary information and resources our new residents/employees will need; Are you ready?
