MEDICAL & SPEAKERS
Blood Pressure Screening
Wednesday, October 7
10:00 am - 10:30 am
Susan Malec, RN, and
Jamie Yates, RN, will take
your blood pressure and share
the results.
Breast cancer is the second most common kind of cancer in women. About 1 in 8 women in the United States will get breast cancer at some point in their lives.
The good news is that many women can sur-
vive breast cancer if it’s found and treated
early. A mammogram, the screening test for
breast cancer, can help find breast cancer
early, when it’s easier to treat. If you are a woman age 50 to 74, be sure to get a mammogram every 2 years. You may also choose to get them more often.
Talk to a doctor about your risk for breast can-
cer, especially if a close family member of
yours had breast or ovarian cancer. Your doc-
tor can help you decide when and how often to
get mammograms.
Did you know breast cancer can occur in men.
Over 2,000 men are diagnosed each year.
Worried about cost? Mammograms are cov-
ered for women over age 40 under the health-
care reform law.
Early detection improves the overall cure rate
and survival. A clinical breast exam and mam-
mograms are very important. The outlook for
women with breast cancer is now better than it
has ever been.
Wednesday, October 7
10:30 am - 11:30 am
Learn about the importance of an annual
mammogram and about the newest tech-
nology that is now available, called 3D
mammography/tomosynthesis. How
does it differ from traditional mamm-
grams? Is it more radiation? What is the
difference between a diagnostic mammo-
gram and a screening mammogram?
