• Our P6 and P7 pupils started the project by working in co-operative learning groups to think about what they already knew about Pakistan.

• They made notes about what they thought about Pakistan - the culture, way of life, appearance, clothing, weather, flag, currency and much more.

• We soon found out there was a lot we didn’t know.

• We also discovered that some of our thoughts about Pakistan we not true:

• Kiera said: “I used to think that none of the buildings looked modern. Now I know there is a mixture of old and new”

• Dominick said: “I used to think that all parts of Pakistan were rural. Now I know that there are big cities too.”

• Paul said: “I used to think there were no five star hotels or big entertainment areas like we have, (such as the Quay or Braehead) Now I know there are several of these in Pakistan.

• Carly said: “I used to think there was not a lot of cars. Now I know there are plenty of modern cars in Pakistan.”

• Pupils in each of the Pakistani schools completed the same exercise (you can see some of their work on our International Education notice area outside Mrs Hunter’s office)

• Pupils in P7 were amused at some of the things the Pakistani children thought about us.

• We have sent our worksheets over to them and we think they will also be amused at some of the things we thought.

• British children like to eat scorpions, lizards and tortoises.

• We always eat fast food and junk food.• They have hot weather, dry but sometimes rainy.

Mostly it’s dry.• They pass most of their time playing video

games instead of going out and having fun.• People in the UK are kind to foreign people.

Here are some of the things Here are some of the things they said:they said:

• Their country is clean, their traffic obeys the law and people respect each other.

• Their hair colour is golden and their eye colour is brown.

• As you can see, some of their perceptions (what they think) are correct, but some are not.

• It is important that we get know a person before we make judgements about them!

• To help us understand more about their country and culture they made some interesting artefacts which you will find on display in our International Education area (outside Mrs Hunter’s office)
