Almost everything made by humans to solve a need or

fulfill a want/desire is a technology

only technology courses no science course required

Pre-reqs./Proficiencies: Basic Reading & Basic Algebra

Computer Science Elective, Free Elective, Technical

Students explore lifestyle changes that empower them to reduce both

their personal and community Carbon Footprint…greener society

through technology.

Theoretical and practical concepts of energy sources with an

emphasis on solving problems related to sustainable renewable

energy use and conservation.

CTE105-Green Technology: (cont.)

Carbon footprint calculations, the expanded use of wind,

solar and hydroelectric power

Hands-on lab experiments, elementary engineering

projects and computer internet research

Students discover several aspects contributing to carbon

emissions and developing a Low Carbon Diet

Could add additional Intensive classification to the

INTENSIVE COURSE DESIGNATION Science & Technology

Application Statement: Students will learn to explain

how science and technology influence each other and

how both can be used to explore natural and human-

created systems.

COURSE CRITERIA

Students discuss the attributes of science and/or

technology, i.e. what science and technology are

Students evaluate the validity and limitations of science

and technology claims in news reports, text books and

magazine articles.

Students relate what they are learning in the classroom

about science and technology to their personal lives,

and/or community.

COURSE CRITERIA

Demonstrate and apply knowledge of major scientific or

technological concepts under study.

Students participate in the analysis of a lab experiment,

technological article, or case study with an appropriate

hypothesis and conclusion.

Note: All five statements must be met in order to classify

the course as Science & Technology Intensive
