Physical Place

There are three main landforms, the

Altiplano, the Yungas, and the Oriente.

Altiplano

The Altiplano is in the

western portion of Bolivia

It is in-between two ranges

of the Andes Mountains.

The Altiplano is one of the

most inhabited areas in the

world.

“It is a cold, grey, windswept

land that looks similar to the

surface of the moon.”

Yungas

East of the Altiplano is the Yungas, which means

“warm lands.”

The Yangus is a series of soft hills, mountain

valleys, and forests.

Most of the food from Bolivia is grown there.

Oriente

The largest area in Bolivia

is Oriente which is

flat land.

Tropical rainforests—part

of the Amazon Basin—are

found in the north part of

this region.

Grasslands, where large

herds of cattle graze, are

located in the south of the

Oriente

Bolivia was named after the famous Latin American freedom fighter Simón Bolívar.

It’s among the earth’s coldest, warmest, windiest and steamiest spots.

It is the poorest country in South America but it has lots of minerals and Natural Recourses

The current flag of Bolivia was officially adopted on

November 30, 1851.

The red and green colors were part of the original flag

of 1825. Red is said to recall valor and green indicates

fertility. The centered band of yellow symbolizes the

country's mineral resources, and the coat of arms

within that band is topped by a condor.
